Nissan Maxima 7th Gen 2010 - How to Replace Front Engine Mount - Part 2
2010 Nissan Maxima -- I had to replace the front lower engine mount (large one). I was experiencing some noise, jerking, and hard shifting issues that mimicked transmission, wheel bearing, or cvt axle issues. The Lower mount was shot and I had gone through two torque mounts due to the damage lower mount. After replacing the large lower engine mount the issues where 97% resolved -- much better now. Car runs like new again.
Parts - Beck / Arnley Front Engine Mount $65.00 versus the $250 nissan mount and the autozone/orielly beck /arnley mount for $150. Dealer quoted of over $500 for the this job. The job actually cost $65.00 B&A Mount ordered online.

Fuck Nissan
My girlfriend just paid three thousand five hundred dollars for this
Excellent video!
Never said if you lossened the subframe or jack the engine you just skip tight over that
I went ahead and dropped the steering column and removed the steering power motor to find out there is no coupler but a splined shaft 😢. 2013 Sante Fe 2.0T with the same issue. It’s amplified when applying the brakes sometimes.
Please don't say 'hondie' 😂
Very informative. Will attempt to install the coupler cushion tomorrow in my Santa Fe I bought new. It only has 60K miles on it. Pitiful engineering to have such a weak point in a place so hard to get to. I'm definitely not a Hyundai fan. My first and most likely last Hyundai product. Thanks for taking your time to post this video! Great job!
You should show how to take it apart from the beginning! Not what you did while putting it back together!
I followed this video and fixed the coupler. No more clunking steering wheel! $12 part from AutoZone. Only issue is that my airbag light stays on. I disconnected the negative terminal before doing any work or undoing the harnesses underneath the steering wheel. Anybody have issues with that? All the cables looked like they were intact and I made sure everything was plugged back in correctly. When I scanned With my OBD tool, I got a “resistance too high” code. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for this helpful video!
That was really helpful. I have the same problem right now. Thanks Bro.
U didn't say or show nothing about to spark plugs in the back
Thank to share, very helpful, best regards from Madagascar !
Transmissions is too hot. Change fluid once a year....
Its best to sneak a trade in because I tried many ways to fix my issue. I knoticed some used car dealerships has other nissians that I wondered if people did the same thing. They tried to sell me another one but fuck that!
Thank you very much Eric for this very useful video, clunking noise just started on my Santa Fe, will try to replace that coupler myself this coming weekends.
Very helpful 👍 in the right mood and took a bit over 1hr. Thanks for posting
Cam shaft sensor man that what was wrong with mine
Cost more then the car is worth to fix it
U say it's stuck in 6 gear these doesnt have gears
Are all of those connectors unique? As in, they will not fit in any other spots? Debating whether I need to label everything as I remove it
Do you have to disconnect battery
Watched this seven years after it was posted...After watching the whole video-You can tell the dude's an amateur...But it doesn't matter. He has the most important thing of all...Common sense. There are plenty of "Professional" mechanics out there that just don't have much, and aren't all that mechanically inclined in the first place.
Useless
You find this useless...Not realizing that it reveals that you are useless.
Oh and your spark plug socket. The term is Thin Wall. MatCo makes a great 9" extension with magnetic sparkplug socket set in 3/8. Price is around 250-350 for lifetime tools but depending on your vendor can be sold separately at a much lower price for job needed. Tools make all the difference. Another handy used tool for nissan engine work is a 16" 1/4"drive ratchet with flex head for pulley bolts that are low torqued or a 16" 3/8"drive ratchet with flex head for same tight long fits but at higher torque Matco/Snapon/Caldwell/Capri make these. Ever changing your headers look into half-moon wrench sets (Sunex-Snapon-Matco)will save your day. And you can never be without XL off-set ratcheting wrench sets Perfect for many tight spot with minimal swing-arc clearance. Surprisingly Gearwrench makes a great set up to 24mm for around 250. Compared to usually 500 to 800 bucks from Snapon/Matco while just as good. If you do any suspension work. Great wrenches are a must.
I'm a VW mechanic for the last 2 years, no formal schooling all self taught except for new VW specific certifications. Watching your video for an easier time to see the process through on my 2010 max. I noticed you organize your disassembly by numbering hoses and parts you remove. I laughed, I thought I was the only one anal enough to do such things. But you know what with every job I have done Ive never had an issue with forgetting something on big engine or suspension jobs. This happens alot in many shops, especially when your tasked with multiple bays and jobs. Great Vid. Your car is a set of legos. Take it apart well and it will go back together well.
Did it run better after the sparkplug change?
I am facing the issue of occasional left pulling in Hyundai Elantra after calibrating the steering angle sensor as well, it is any symptom of bad flexible coupling..
Many models over several years have this issue. Replacement part cheap, $5-$10; time and difficulty to replace, 2-5 yours and very difficult if you have not done it before with all connectors having access issues and different removal methods. To fix, your on your back under the steering wheel. When this part is degraded it represents a serious hazard and frankly it should be a recall item; the manufacturer should not continue to produce this part which consistently fails. It is very difficult for an unskilled person to make this repair and if you goof, you will need more parts and double the time to repair.
Nissan Driver: I just need to downshift CVT: What's that?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
My maxima made it a whole 66k miles
Thanks for the thorough video! Going to try and tackle next weekend. Good to be prepared.
It's a very easy job. So long as you have the tools on hand.
My santa fe highlander 2014 having same problem.I will try to do in one day.Thank you very much for your information, very clear details. How many hours did you do that job?
Oem used all da way. Hey there Oem. . Hey brother I noticed Afther replacing them m mounts my hose from the raidiator began to leak a small drip Wen I turn off car. Just minor 2 drops or so. So cud it b the movement coursed that to move ? Another question To get to the lower hose that connect to raidiator is a bitch due to it being in a hard position. Is it posible to replace the clamps with out removing the entire bumper. Two sections drip alil. One upset on da t neck were u fill it the one connecting to the raidiator nd the lower one both connect to raidiator. But the positions r hard to Gt to u hve the same car. Can u hlp me out to get to it Upper small hose refill area dat go to raidiator n lower go to raidiator
How Nissan paired this cvt trans with this engine application blows my mind. Your cvt is basically done after this happens. Hope you were able to get it fixed through warranty because the trans will have to be replaced
The reason for them doing this is monetary. A CVT transmission is cheaper to build than the standard AT (planetary gear transmission). But the CVT from the beginning was KNOW to have problems. It is a peace of garbage. And is MUCH costlier to diagnose the problem; not to mention repair it. Yes, you will hear "glory" stories and some do well. But most do not experience that. My Nissan Maxima was bad from the day I bought it brand new. Nissan refused to doing anything about it. They said, "It was normal". Yet the CVT vibrates the entire car between 20 to 30 RPM. I hate it. Than I found out that there is NOTHING that can be done about it; except change the transmission; but they refuse. They say "Learn to gun the engine and you won't have the vibration". That is true, but I have never (88 yrs old now) gunned an engine in ALL of the cars I have ever had. Sad indeed. I suggest that a buyer choose the "Toyota Avalon" (same elite car like the Nissan Maxima) with the standard transmission. It easily gets 300,000+ miles; and rarely a transmission problem. Oh indeed. I haven't the money so I have to live with the peace of crap. For what it's worth.
th-cam.com/video/C4hOkNrfA0c/w-d-xo.html Hi friend got leak maxima 2013 I don't know it seem fuel leak but do you know from where here is the video Your help appreciated I don't know where to search o. The internet about this problem
So...what was out come did you run off a cliff...that's why you didn't say outcome or how you stopped it ?????????
Brother u kind of made it alil More difficult. U cud hve just remove the fan raidiator &. Torque mount . Simple Replace it. Done . I Didint hve to remove. Battery. Tpm. But. Every one does it dif. Also. Better to go to a local Mivhanic. Shop around job cost about $100. $120. Cus this car from 2009. Up is more work Also don’t buy cheap Ebay mounts btr to get a. Use Oem mount from eBay that will last u at lease 5 Years then a Afther market that brake in 5 months
Why need to remove torque mount?
Aftermarket last a few months. Get the OEM. Am having to replace 4 aftermarket. Gggghhhhrrrrr
@@leo3325 if you don’t loosen them, then they will break from the pressure. Broke one arm today...ggggrrrrr
Still a great video. Took me 5 hours today.
Do not Pry on this. Very bad advice. The best way is to just take the bracket off. four bolts instead of the 8 he told you to take off the side mount. Might of worked for you but not really a good idea.
take the radiator out and don't take a chance of breaking the new mount. They have oil in them
I'm not sure why anyone would subscribe to this. It's not educational at all
I can not for the life of my remove the forward most harness plug on the right side of the steering ECU under the wheel. You can clearly see it around 17:45, its one of what you call the power connectors, any tips? its got a blue retainer on top of the clip but I cant get the thing to come out of the plug...
I see he don't care to answer viewers questions. Nice to know how long.
Change your cam sensors both
Below is the link for the complete service manual. Its for a 2009 but it should work for up to 2014. This hurts because it's not a geared transmission.... He threw the car into sport mode mid-ride and just needs to flick it off and let the computer adjust the position of the belt on the CVT
You the man
Thank you for the video... Nissan wanted $596 from me to change the spark plugs
Hi Eric I have a 07 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL and I'm having similar problems the whining yes I paid about 200+ for a sensor and had it installed 5 mos later it's back and now its sounds like it's in high gear in when I get to 3 so I started shifting out Manually even though I can hear it change out to 3 again from there its a light feel when shifting to 4 to 5 and still that whining sound its like stress on the transmission do you have any idea what's wrong???? I also notice that it will smokes after I get off the freeway
Overheating CVT. Use higher quality oil.
Thanks Mr Ash finished my 2009 Maxima sv today. Couldn't have done it without, studied your video over and over for weeks. Changed my O2 oxygen bank 1 while I had the manifold off. Thanks again great job!
