    When I try to do the retraction my left shoulders feels like a sharp pain. Why is that? If I just do the depression it is all fine

      Hi, have you tried doing it without hanging? Just put your arms forward or upward without any weights, try it again :)

      @@jtvk8337 quick question I think my shoulder rotated inward starting near the top or at the top looks like hunching. Is it normal?What is the possible root cause and what exercise to fix it?

      @@Roll2me It is completely normal to have a slight protraction (rounding) at the top of a pull up, try practicing with lower intensities (australian pull ups), as well as driving the elbows back at the top of the pull up ;D

    Here is another helpful tip: just hang loose. One thing that will increase your pull-up potential is GRIP STRENGHT! Just hang on the bar for as long as you can. Aim for 30-60 seconds or more for better grip strength.

      Try doing it with your arms in front of you instead of above you, that means try it in a bodyweight row position :)

      It can be a complimentary exercise at the end of your pull workout, doing chin ups will help your strengthen your biceps, hence strengthening your pull ups!

      Protraction is when you move your shoulder blades away from each other, most often you can say 'rounding your back'. Retraction is the opposite, pinching your shoulder blades together, as a result, pushing your chest out :)

      There isn't any big difference. The major difference is wood/metal and markings. Wood feels much better than metal, and markings are convenient.
