Welcome to my channel, where I combine two of my greatest passions: Woodworking and tabletop gaming!
My name is T, and I'm a woodworking noob, D&D and MTG enthusiast, and all-around dork. On this channel, you'll see a variety of woodworking projects. If you're looking for expert craftsmanship and perfectly executed projects, you may be in the wrong place... But if you're looking for a good laugh and a relatable journey through the ups and downs of woodworking, you've come to the right place!
I've had my fair share of project fails and workshop mishaps, but that's all part of the learning process, right?
When I first started , I didn't even know how to use a saw . But over time, with practice and patience (and a few band-aids), I've honed my skills and gained confidence in my abilities and am proud to say I can confidently turn on a saw now. Seeing that I am out of Band-Aids, I decided to start bring up my projects on TH-cam.... I need the criticism; My wife is too supportive.

Homemade Wooden ties from scrapwood- Came out AMAZING
Because regular ties are so last year, we’re making ties out of wood. Yup, two of them. Perfect for when you want to say 'I'm fashionable and I know how to use a saw.'

15-minute spline jig for picture frames and more from a single piece of wood

Halfway through my GM screen build I decided to put splines in the box. only one problem.... I didn't have a spline jig. SO I decided to challenge myself and make one, I gave myself twenty minutes (because WHY NOT) And I made no cuts, I kept the camera rolling throughout, I fast forwarded through some parts, and there is ONE tiny hidden cut from when the Battery dies... How Do I Get Complete Plans?
I made up the plans as I went along Don't have formal plans for this sadly. Enough people are asking I may make plans for it sometime though
I just found this video and your channel and I am f***n here for it bro. Love it! Keep it up. Nice mix of ASMR and humor
Thanks!!! ASMR is not on the list of things I thought would be complimented on, sweet
They came out great! Awesome ideas! And you, my friend, are hysterical! Tie on the door knob... naughty naughty! Keep it coming!
Hahaha, thanks man, appreciate it! And I had to- I made a tie didn't I?
@@thewannabecraftsman 🤣
Nice gift build and they look great! I hope that magic card wasn't a Black Lotus!😂 I struggle with the same question, music or no music. I keep trying it on and off but can't tell if it makes a difference.
Thanks, I was surprised how well they came out for not having a plan and just sending it on my first attempt. if I had a black lotus.... if only- thats a new house :D
Cool project and a very unique gift!
Thanks- I thought so as well, he only has two ties and he always wears the same one every week, so thought this might be fun for him
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed your humour, plus building a piece in the same way that I plan to build mine. Well done!
Appreciate it! and yeah, it was a solid build, still have it and use it almost for every project.
i don't understand why everyone wants to make the inside of their mine shaft look like the inside of a chimney with lights, horizontal or vertical, the walls inside mine shafts are rock.........
there is only so many things you can make the inside of a square table look like going on for infinity And some mine shafts do us brick walls. Short answer though- its easier than anything else
What did you wipe is down with - an oil or a finish?
Well Done Pal 👍
Thanks dad --- I mean man
Couldn't stand it. You were at 699 so I had to subscribe! Loved the cart build, I need one too and I was cracking up at your dramatic re-enactment! Well done!😂
Thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoyed the reenactment. was a last minute addition I just deciced to do because it amused me
This is great!
Still use it almost every wood working project!
Just happened across your channel. I dig your vibe. The Always Sunny clip is hilarious. One of my favorite episodes
HAha thanks I think they aren't great for the video- but I was cracking up every time I put one in- so they stayed :D
Thowback to the days of the hidden track.
Video where I got "inspired" to make this th-cam.com/video/3CVHLAg55sQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FunSizeProject
And yes- I BLATANTLY used stuff from IASIP But that's one of the good things about being a small channel- IM not monetized to have the video "DE-monetized" (>^.^)> <(^.^<)
You do you, man. You are hilarious! Thank you.
I appreciate that, thanks!
Love your sense of humor. That work table in background is a repurposed dining table … looks like something I would do. Hubby laughs at me (waste not, want not) 😏. Thrifty cause woods expensive. Was looking for a 2x4 flip top, glad I found this. Awesome!
Thats exactly what this table was made from me and my wife got married and had extra "stuff" so instead of throwing out one of the tables... why not turn it into a workbench?!?! We both hate waste, and yes, wood can be so friggen expensive!
I binged all your videos. Hope you have time to squeeze in videos.
Dude that's one of the coolest compliments I could have gotten Hope you enjoyed them The older ones are definitely..... "less refined"
You got a bright future as a TH-camr. But, dude, riving knife...
I agree with the need/use of a riving knife- I forgot to put it back in after taking it out to make a specific plunge cut on another piece I was working on.
Ha ha ha...dude, I don't even know you, and yet somehow I knew you were going to test the suction rate properly!
Hahaha, great minds think alike!
Whatever this was, it was awesome. Great job.
I THINK it was woodworking... or something that might pass as it.... not sure, but thanks!
Great build! Dropkicking the bucket was hilarious!! 👍👍
Luckily I have like 10 of them
I scrounge wood from dumpsters. I’m getting ready to do that now. I never have used pallet wood, maybe some day.
IF you don't want to spend a day or two just getting the wood READY to use, I would advise straying from pallets. IF you got that time, then pallets are great.
SUPER EASY LOL !!!!
only took like 30-40 minutes, so simple!
thanks for sharing..so sorry you kicked the bucket, but there was entertainment value!
Glad you enjoyed it
I agree 100% about spending the 4 hours instead of $10 extra. I do that too. It teaches me for sure and I complain while I’m doing it but I find the education I learn from the thousand of mistakes that are made trying to square up and perfect shit wood from Home Depot leaves me more proud of my accomplishments when I’m done. Liked and subscribed! Ps I like your commentary.
Thanks And yes, exactly this. Its good practice, you don't get that buying plywood, and if IM spending the money to make my life easier, I might a well buy a vacuum cart.
Thanks for introducing your shop spider buddy!! :-) It just wants to hang out
You bet I'll update the youtubes when it comes by again.
Love a little left handed screw action @ 13:13. Unless it's a trick of video frame doppler.
IT "is" a trick, i just reversed the image, looked weird the other way in the shot it was in. Can't say I have used lefties before in wood working
You are so right about keeping the wife happy. I like the idea of having it blow into the filters. That way you can move it around without dust falling off onto the floor.
Exactly! also prevents a huge updraft near the fan
Awesome found a new favorite
Yay! Thank you!
Great build. I'm thinking of building one for my son. Thanks! You are a funny guy, keep it coming when you can.
Thanks, will do!
I watched your dust collector video and the vacuum joke made me subscribe. I think you dorks that play card games crazy. But my brother loves them and works in a card shop. World of Warcraft is much better ha ha but thanks for bringing my hobby into my brothers world and something I can do for him. Keep it up.
I have tired WOW, it is wayyy to addicting for me. Dnd and MTG is a nice medium, need other people around,, keeps the addicted parts of my personality in check.
Maybe if you make another try magnets. They should glue in easy and allow enough resistance so they don’t slide. But I’ve never tried so maybe a test.
Magnets for which part?
Under the dials instead of the screws. I don’t know if they would move correctly or not. But if you’re going to make more maybe worth a test?
@@FuzzyLiger OH gotcha, that's not a bad Idea actually.... But I did figure out a Much better way once I finished this, I like your idea with magnets as well..... might try them both out next time I make this.
I agree that most things can be done with a 2x4 or 2x6. All the furniture in my kid's rooms are one or the other. New Sub!
Right? Also, I saw your Pheasant tail vid, looked super sweet!
Your good push downwards montage earned a subscribe - well done sir.
Haha, thanks. I watched that part of the video three or four times while trying to connect the two buckets thinking I missed something- just wanted to share the madness..
Yo! those shirtless Henry Cavil pics!
...My friend was using my computer before, I have no idea how those got there...
@@thewannabecraftsman was he using your printer too? I have the same problem
OMG, the vacuum test killed me. Was not expecting that. Haven't had this much fun watching a youtube woodworking video in a long, long time. Thanks. Subbed, and I'm not even done watching the video.
That is legitimately one of the best compliments I think I can get for a video, thanks!
I'm a little surprised that you have the fan blowing into the filter box. Intuitively i would have expected the fan to blow out, so the filters catch things on the way in. It would also increase the relative surface area, since the dust doesnt have to enter the fan intake in order to get captured. I need to make my own air filter soon, so maybe i can test it both ways and report back.
I tried it both ways and from what I can tell the air flow is the same. the main reason I had the fan blowing in is otherwise there would be a huge updraft every time I turned the fan on, and it would push dust up and around, and this way the dust particles are located inside the fan, and wont just refall into the air or ground when I move and bump the fan. At least that's what I found, I could be horribly wrong if someone uses an actual air flow tester and does the math. Let me know if you do and what you find!
@@thewannabecraftsman Keeping the loose dust contained in the unit is a great point I hadn't thought of. I'd be inclined to try to make a smaller version that I can ceiling mount, so the airflow from the fan would be less of an issue. Got some good ideas to try out, thanks.
That suction test got me good. Great vid!
hahaha, thanks, was a last minute decision- Er, I mean... how else do you test for suction????
Welcome back, long time no see! And Yes! protect those lungs! nice video and great idea not going the plywood route. You'll definitely re-organize your thinking about wood working processes and how to use materials effectively!
Thanks!! Yeah, I don't plan on taking 6 months between videos again... geez
Was that a brown Recluse?
looking at it as close as TH-cam's resolutions allows I'd think it was either a barn spider or a wolf spider.
I highly doubt it, but I am allergic to spiders either way so I treat it as if they were all venomous.
Great video! I've been thinking about an air purifier and now sounds like a good time to build one. I appreciate the cost breakdown at the end.
Cost a bit, but was a great addition. I had to paint some shelves and I ran this next to the shelving to let dry, there wasn't a spec of dust or anything on the shelves when they were finished. Fan caught everything before it could land on them
That silence, priceless! Great job 🔨👍😊
Hahaha, yes it is! IN all reality, if she didn't care she wouldn't have kept insisting I take care of it, and she was right... it is MUCH better now
You're hilarious AND talented!!❤
💗
Hey. This is one of the best flip top builds I've seen. Did you cut holes in the pipe to pull the wires through?
I looked at your other videos and you're a nerd! BOTH of my Pathfinder games this week got cancelled.
Yes I did, cut a hole into one side right in the middle of the pipe. Lost a decent amount of footage on this build, drilling that hole being among them.
I have a couple of dumb questions, I apologize in advance. #1. Are those 1xs you used for the tops? #2 what diameter pipe did you use?
the entire build is from 2x4s, the first few shots you can see me ripping down the 2x4s in half to get two 3/4" boards which is what they are made of. 1" diameter pipe if memory serves, and i wish I got 1.5. Took me FOREVER to get the wire through the hole in the pipe, was to rigid of a wire, and too sharp of a turn.
I really like making your own light weight bricks. I'll have to use that in further projects. Thx
Thanks! I literally came up with that idea day of. they sell faux brick walls sheeting for like 60 bucks.... Didn't want to spend any money on this. Necessity is the mother of invention I hear...
Man, if plans exist for this I would actually buy them. Love your style. Look forward to watching more videos from you.
Much appreciated! Just finishing up another 2x4 shop build, so keep an eye out for it. And I feel ya, I have gotten emails about plans for this... I just made them up as I went essentially.
The only problem I see is you didn't show removing your assortment of beer cans .Lol Like your design and cost factor.
Thanks, yeah I am surprised it was that cheap and it still functions perfectly. I honestly expected it to fall apart, had to remove the Planar for cleaning, and everything still fits and works perfectly!
Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount, especially if you find a piece that has a chunk missing out of it. I found a piece that had a section that was messed up along the edge. Asked for manager and boom 30% discount. Still not cheap but every bit counts.
Ima be real with you.... I am not entirely sure what you are talking about, and if I am being honest. I am way too lazy to rewatch the video to figure it out :D I'll take the tip though, it does indeed never hurt to ask.
I was referring to your initial comments about the crazy prices for plywood that are being used for these carts. I had found a piece of plywood I needed for a different project that had a defect and I asked the manager of the big box store and got a 30% discount. I'm getting ready to make one of these for my Jointer and my planer and I'll be using 2x4's to try and keep the price reasonable. @@thewannabecraftsman
