Living an Ordered Life and Vocation: The Bucket System
Trying to do "all the things" but feel like you're not making headway? Do you sometimes obsess in one area only to feel like a failure in the others? You're not alone. I feel that way often, as I look at a clean home and neglected kids, or a happy marriage with no dinner plans ... So let's jump into The Bucket System to see if we can all find that balance, those baby steps, that move the need in "all the areas" of our vocation.
**I can't wait to hear below what YOUR seven buckets are!***

    I very seriously considering working with Coach Carol. She seems wonderful, and I’m grateful that you have recommended her and so many other helpful resources related to marriage. I wanted to get your opinion on what would be the best way to start with Coach Carol if on a very limited budget. I saw she has a course for $197 or 2 phone calls for $300. If you had to choose between the course or the phone calls which one of those would you choose first?

    • @bloominginthelight
      @bloominginthelight 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First off, she has a free assessment call. I would always suggest starting there bc 1. it's free, and 2. she gets to know you a bit. Second, the least expensive option is her monthly group coaching: $47/month gets you three group coaching sessions (1 hour each) plus the private FB group. The course will be incredibly beneficial, on top of any coaching, to understand the basics and the mindset work. The individual calls move the needle quickly. She will explain it all in the free assessment. I have personally done her RENEW program (not offered often), individual calls, and I'm in her monthly group program.

    Have you lost weight fasting?

      @bloominginthelight 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I threw my scale away. 😉 And ... Before that I did lose a little and lost two inches in my natural waist. My "honesty" skirt is fitting looser as well. Fasting can cause body recomp and weighing yourself accurately is actually a very complicated process. A 19:5 fasting regimen has been proven to lose about a pound of fat a week after initial adjustment phase. I suggest Gin's 28-day start book or Dr Mindy's 28-day plan if you're still getting a period and want to protect hormones. Dr Mindy will have you cut out bread, vegetable fats, processed food, and another category I can't remember. The book AC: Appetite Correction also has some great ways to get you to 19:5. I can't do 19:5 while supporting progesterone after 5 dpo until I bleed, but I can usually do just fine for first three weeks.

    "we have what we value". The word "value" has been key for me. I decluttered over 50% of our stuff 10 yrs ago. I was just exhausted, overwhelmed, and needed simplicity badly. Minimalism on TH-cam really helped motivate me to do all the hard work of really streamlining possessions. But, but the pressure/marketing to consume is EVERYWHERE! A difficult season (C#V$D), maybe a different influencer or friend, etc, and I fell into patterns of consuming (not wreckless consuming, just your average on-line consuming) again. But, my values around my Christian faith and my deep desire to "be like Jesus" are honestly what brings me back, again & again, to challenging myself to die to self...each day...more & more. Identifying myself with Christ instead of worldly possessions is a constant challenge, but it helps me live more in the will of God. Hope this makes sense.🇨🇦♥️

    • @bloominginthelight
      @bloominginthelight 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It does make sense! It's easy to let the world tell us what we need to be happy. I'm reading Messy Minimalism. It's a Christian book and I've enjoyed her candor about letting go, consuming again, and finally getting to that place of identity. I look around at the various gifts and little objects I've bought over the years since claiming I'm a minimalist. I'm not buying huge things but yet, they all add up. How many cute water bottles do two children need? ;)

      @@bloominginthelight don't give up. Few tread in the footsteps of Christ, but it's WORTH it. Everytime I recommit to challenging my definition of a "need" vs a "want" and release my hold on a possession, I'm actually exercising that muscle of "dying to Christ" and exercising the muscle of trusting God to meet my TRUE needs. Now...this is not to say that we should never have nice things are engage in aesthetic pleasures. Enjoy your vase of flowers and your beautiful dress. They have been given to you by God for enjoyment. But, figure out where the saturation point is where the "gifts" no longer fill you with gratitude to God and become expectations.🇨🇦♥️

I shared both the OCD and the GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) titles in the description bc as Dr Chad explains, to him they're on a continuum. If you relate to this video, you may want to check out either title. I found even skipping ahead to the "solution" was so helpful and thankfully much of my work with @CoachCarolCatholic has aligned with his treatment plan: capturing thoughts, labeling, creating distance from thoughts, self-care.

He has a really stressful job which is what brings it on. His job also keeps him away most of the week until Sunday (before sunrise til at least 9 pm every night). He does have good intentions many times. But he drinks heavily, smokes, and doesn’t always lead us spiritually. I’m really at a point of distrust and frustration. I’m just so tired of our children seeing this. So I know I’m guilty of the things you’re saying but it’s so hard with his behavior being so bad. I want our children to know that hurtful behavior is not ok. Any advice? I am looking for a Christian therapist. I have asked him to go to marriage counseling for a long time. He refuses. We have a Catholic marriage and I don’t believe in divorce but what if you feel like you might’ve made a mistake? I love him but it gets so bad sometimes and it’s been going on for so long. If you need inspiration, check out the Empowered Wife podcast by Laura Doyle as well we Coach Carol's TH-cam channel. You don't need marriage counseling. You just need to work the skills. Feeling like you made a mistake is natural, and untrue. I'll keep you in my prayers. Please touch base again after reading the book. I KNOW you can do this and things WILL get better. You can find your joy and light no matter how he is acting, and once you become safe and respectful, things may shift. Yet, with the skills, you can find your joy either way!
