    Hello. I was wondering, what app are you using now as your base? What does your workflow look like? I really liked your Minimal Obsidian video and your overall minimalist approach. Personally, I'm struggling quite a bit with the structure of the system right now. I would need some minimalist visual approach to navigate my notes. :D Would you like to do some quick shorts video and show something from your workflow? 🙂 Have a beautiful day! :)

    This video gave me food for thought. While I enjoy Obsidian as my PKM, I was looking for something that would be more of a Life OS. I’ve been considering Capacities. I’m currently using Craft, but since it’s primarily a note taking app, I’m pushing the limits. I love the idea of a visual dashboard as a jumping off point!

      @@dsuthapong It really was. But now I'm in a deep, deep rabbit hole. I've gone a little futher than your theme and have learnt a little CSS, so I can create my own callouts (and a few other tweaks), and now I'm about to starting theming it in Bear's dark theme 'Charcoal'. My productivity has dropped out of my shoes right now, but I'm having fun making Obsidian lovely to use (I'm a designer by trade, so I'm prone to the shallow, shiny trinkets in life!)

    This is just a regurgitation of "How to take Smart Notes" by Sonke Ahrens. He misrepresents the original system Luhmann used. I'm shilling intensely here: read "Antinet Zettelkasten" by Scott Scheper (or search Scott Scheper on youtube) for a real, accurate representation on what system Luhmann actually implemented.

    3:54: this is not a Hub-note, but an Indexcard. The Index was an essential element of Luhmanns Zettelkasten, that should be mentioned. Also the term "fleeting note" is not something Luhmann used, and frankly I dont see the point of mentioning something which is thrown away anyway.

    Do you crystalize your captured stuff every day? I often capture things that sound interesting but without a concrete research behind. How to you make permanent notes out of this kind of captured data ?

    • @dsuthapong
      @dsuthapong 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I capture stuff everyday, and when I have time, I turn those raw data (daily and reference notes) into permanent notes 1-2 times a week. When I create permanent notes, I ask myself these questions: - What I want to remember? - What are the key learnings from this material? - What would my future self want to know? - What could be useful in the future? You also have to be careful not to write too many/too much on permanent notes, but shouldn’t restrict yourself to the point where you have too few permanent notes 😂 Creating permanent notes is definitely a balancing act. Once you start doing this, you can “feel” whether you are creating too much, or too little. And you can adjust overtime. Good luck !! Hope this is helpful.

    Your approach seems more natural for the way I process information. I've read Tiago's book and adapted Obsidian to PARA, but I have an internal feeling that it's a struggle for me, constantly wondering where to place a note. At work, I noticed that my method aligns with the atomic approach (Atomic Notes)-breaking everything down into small elements, thereby reducing mental blockages. Here, I have an issue with PARA... I am not sure how this looked like a year ago, but now it seems like we need one more app to get this done. There is an app called "Actions for Obsidian", which costs at least 10$ (at least it is a one-off payment), that packs the Obsidian actions. That's really upside-down and the Obsidian app itself should provide at least some basic actions. That said, creating an action to quickly add a new note is pretty easy.

    Why is a permanent note not prefixed with an emoji or letter? Thanks for all your excellent work Darin, your channel should be much bigger in my opinion!

      Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏🏻 I personally don’t prefix permanent notes since I see them as the “core notes” of the system, so i do not like them to be cluttered with any characters. But this is just my personally preference :)

    For callouts, I like to use templater's callout option. You just set a hotkey to it (mine is CMD + OPTION + C), then it brings you up to all the possible callout functions. Its useful because you don't have to remember the different types of callouts (hints, tips, warnings, etc.)

      Whoa! That’s helpful. Thank you! I always forgot all the callout options and need to look up the documentation 😂

    Hi Darin, great video with awesome visuals and explanation of how Obsidian works, thank you for putting the time in making this video. Question for you, is there any way I can use the Apple Notes app on my iphone but have that sync with Obsidian somehow? Or is my only option to use the Obsidian ios app once I make the switch to Obsidian?

      Thanks so much for your feedback Shant🙏🏻 To your question, the simplest and realistic way to take notes on the iphone and have them synced with Obsidian is to use the Obsidian iOS app. There must be a way to sync apple notes with Obsidian (like using Zapier or iOS shortcuts) but i think those approaches are too complicated 😆

    Incredible, thank you for your valuable content Darin. I'm curious, do you incorporate technical knowledge into your Zettelkasten system as well? For example how to use a software? While Zettelkasten seems effective for conceptual ideas, follow-up questions, and reflections, I'm uncertain about integrating technical content. I worry it might inundate my Zettelkasten with numerous reference notes.

      Thanks for your kind words 🙏🏻 And great questions about technical content. For targeted and specific content like “how to use a software” I normally use Apple notes. I think zettelkasten would be overkill for those kinds of content.

      @@dsuthapong I totally agree, and it makes a lot of sense to me. Thank you again, Darin. Keep it up! 🙌
