What a joke, they just ruined the spirit of tournament, in tournament there are loser and winner, later there will be no second place or maybe third place, just make anyone who's in second or third place to be first place

I mean, two super strong players played equally and become world champions together, is it better or worse than forcing them to keep playing and keep drawing until one player randomly blundering at the very last second in a drawn position? Is the resulting winner more deserving than having two?

Way i see it is every player who went there knew how it would work and understood that things could very well end up in a tiebreak especially at this high a level. If both of them decide they don't want to follow the rules anymore then either carry on tomorrow, find a way to discriminate or remove them both

This unfinished tournament failed to produce a champion because the finalists agreed to DRAW the tournament. Actually, we don't have two champions, we only have two finalists. FIDE got scared and got lazy when all that was needed was to stick to its rules or maybe an Armageddon game. FIDE's goal is to produce a champion but it succumbed and, thus, failed in its main mission.

While I feel rather uneasy about this turn of events, joint first place is something that has been implemented in many other sports, just not in chess. Either FIDE comes up with better tie breaks (ie. Throw down with Armageddon), or have a better pairing system.

Anyone who is really mad about this is dumb, its fine and interesting and new and a pretty decent thing to do. If you want the competitors to have more say in their sports and not just be a pawn (no pun intended) to the arbitrary rules of administrators/officials/bureaucrats then both the wardrobe compromise and co-championship is a good thing.

Fide decisions in this tournament has been a joke, making up new rules just for one player dont do good to the chess world IMO

Magnus relevance is far more greater than his willing to compete. To me it was a disrespect for competition which is what the whole thing was suppose to be at the first place. Jan should’ve hold his ground and tried to win it, even if he could lost it, that’s what competition is all about. Strange times we live in.

It's kinda wholesome in a way, but they should have a rule to prevent it to happen. It's incredible that FIDE has so many rules about clothes and other things unrelated to chess, but they didn't think to put an Armageddon game after a certain number of draws, to decide the champion.
