This channel is for helping the everyday individual in helping with EV installs, rough in wiring or to trouble shoot parts of electrical systems as well. I do enjoy the occasional product review and DIYer projects.
I'm a former Powerwall installer for Tesla Energy for 5+ years. I have done hundreds of installs. Before Tesla I owned and operated my own electrical company for over 10 years. I currently hold A Master's Electrical License.
I'm looking forward to helping where I can with questions I come across on TH-cam or elsewhere.

Animal Barrier Screen Install | Keeping the "Pest" out from under your property
In this DIY video I install an easy to install animal screen that will help keep the local animals & "pest" from making homes under my house and barn. I don't mind cats and other animals, but I don't want them making a home under mine and raising their young and causing possible other problems like damaging the insulation, wiring or plumbing.

50yr old electrical engineer here....just installed some of these TR plugs in my office. Have not run into them before. Your advice on them is excellent and I very much appreciate it. =) They certainly make testing voltage with multimeter leads somewhat of a pain.
Yes, sir. They are definitely not Leeds friendly. But it does keep kids with forks out of them. Thank you for watching and commenting . I’m glad it was helpful.
You didn’t video the most important part … wiring alignment to the timer
It’s all in the video. Unless I misunderstanding what you mean.
Why is it that you don’t just run the cable straight from the panel right to the charger? Why do you have a break in a junction box thanks sorry if it’s a dumb question, but I don’t understand why you have to stop and have a break. thanks for the help.
No dumb questions. Only the ones that are not asked. Bobby, the device I had there previously had its own “whip “ from the manufacturer. Not all manufacturers allow you to hardwire their devices. This one specifically allowed for it to run directly to the EV charger. In this case I would’ve had to pull a new run of number six wires which I didn’t wanna do. You’re absolutely right it would be better in the long run to have less connections. Just down the road I’ll be changing this one to another. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@YourFloridaElectrician Hey. Thanks!
Thank you also for contributing to the channel.
thanks for the video.

Thank you you just saved my life. The only video that makes sense.
That’s why I’m here. 🙌 Thank you for watching, supporting the channel .
How beefy is the 21' cable to handle 48 amps is it 6 gauge?
Honestly don't see the size used by the manufacture. Ones fused at 60 amps will usually have #6 wire. This one is only at 50 amps so it's possible could be the next size down. 🤷♀
Can you torque in odd numbers as well? Say 37 inch pounds?
Yes. The graduations on the dial are even but you can get the red dial in between the graduations so you can get an odd number as well. Thanks for watching and commenting .
Can you not control them individually?
You absolutely can! You can also group them together like I did. Thanks for watching and commenting
Speakers are a little too high. Left, Right and surround tweeters should be at ear height when seated (about 40" from ground). TV should be centered at or just above eye height when seated... If bottom of TV is above eye height, you may have neck pain over time.
Tv bottom is about eye height. Speakers are a little high but didn't know what kind of sofa we were getting yet. (didn't want the speakers behind it) Looks great from where we are sitting given all the seat recline and even reclined our feet are not in the way of the screen. I asked everyone after this comment to see if anyone has experienced any neck pain yet and so far no problems. Luckily it worked out for us here. Do you do Audio installs for a living? Just wondering. Thanks for watching and the valuable input for us all.😉
Nice clean setup!
Thanks Todd 🤩
Very detailed ❤❤
Yes. Some people like the detailed, but it’s not for everyone.. I figure I’m gonna record it anyway might as well include the details. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 🙏
Great video. Can you help me understand why there aren’t 2 hots (red and black), a white return, and then a ground? The plugged version uses 6/3 with nema 14-50. I appreciate any help. Thanks
Well Karl, The Ev charger is strictly 240 volts, no neutral needed. The plugged version 6/3 has that configuration because everyone is installing a NEMA 14-50 or range outlet which as two hot, one neutral and ground. The neutral on the plug going to the EV charger is not wired because it doesn't need it. A range on the other hand uses the neutral wire because it has 120-volt loads. Like the display and when certain heating levels of the cook top are desired. Hope this answers your question. The best compliment if you liked the content is to like, share and subscribe to the channel. 👍

Can I replace my timer box with a Leviton 1288 switch as I have solar hot water and I only need to turn the water heater on once a month. The switch looks like it switches power between two outputs. I’d like to use the switch to also power a 220v outlet (to also be added) to handle like a 24amp or 16amp level 2 car charger.
Send me the link to the 1288 switch so I can check it out.
The Leviton 1288 switch will only switch one load at 220 volts. (Line in - Line out) This can be used to switch your water heater on / off if you want. Maybe you can use a Smart EV switcher? You can make a plug for your water heater or dryer and share one with your EV. Here's a link. amzn.to/4eJTKpD
Many many and more to come
This company is by far the worst I’ve dealt with. I’ve written a few reviews about them, highlighting issues from their non-existent support to the time an employee called me, begging me to change my 1-star review because they feared being fired. The unit lacks a reset button, so when it freezes, you’re left with no choice but to cut power at the breaker. After charging, the EV often no longer recognizes the charger as connected unless you physically disconnect it, reset the breaker, or go into the app to “force” a start. As for the hardware, it’s incredibly frustrating. Until recently, you couldn’t even buy a hardware version; you had to remove and hardwire the plug. Worse, you couldn’t simply wire in the end because the plug wiring was undersized for the required load (cheap). Then there’s the problem with the connectors-the tight spaces and odd sizing make it nearly impossible to find the right connectors that can handle the voltage safely. My experience has been terrible from start to finish, from unboxing the unit to dealing with their lackluster support and even receiving those desperate calls about changing my review. And the constant freezing and locking up of the unit? Just another headache. The company’s marketing is just as questionable. Every TH-cam review seems to be from someone who either received the unit for free or was paid to advertise it. Notice how you never see genuine reviews from regular homeowners or businesses? That alone should make you think... why is that ?

Yes another bad hair day. It’s normal for me. 😅
When I was a kid my dad would have me check these for him at work and I had no idea what that button did. He'd always be pissed when he had to go and hit all the resets in the building.
I don’t know why he would be pissed. He wanted you to check them. lol 😆 Thanks for watching and commenting
Thats a normal day in Ohio the work here is hell. Ridiculous a license isnt required in Ohio for electrical work. Anyone can install it for most part. Homeowner needs to pull permit tho. Seen alot of hack work here and it sucks going behind them to fix it
Wow. You should take some video and post it showing some of the shit work being done over there. 👉

Interesting. I’m not aware of it. If you could send me a link to Amazon so I can look at it.??
Another great video. Keep them coming!
Glad you liked it, but I need a lot more videos. Not easy part-time.
Question, re the long dashboard lightbar I have the trim off as you describe but stuck on how to feed the connector through the trim side hole into the interior of the glovebox, looks like you run it though some gap at the bottom of the closest side of the curved bracket in the glovebox but for the life of me cannot work out how to get the connector from outside to inside of the glovebox. Any tips/tricks much appreciated.
If I recall correctly, when you take that end piece off, there is a hole there just big enough for the connector to slide into the glove box. Make sure the glove box is open.
Thanks mate, the challenge I had was yes you can poke the cable through the hole on the trim side, just no corresponding hole in the glovebox inside. Finally worked out that it needed to route into the glovebox via a small gap in/around the closest side of the glovebox "lever". A really tricky job, after 1/2 an hr of no luck and cursing madly, finally resorted to get a piece of thin wire as a conduit to connect the 2 holes and get the cable through. Maybe things are a little different for my 2024 MY RHD, but def not a simple job for a DIYer. Also another note for others, the dash light strip I was supplied was 110mm long but the length of the dashboard vent is 135mm, so unless I got sent the wrong product you need to start sticking the dashboard LED lights approx 100mm (4 inch) from the end. It would be a much better product if the LED light length fitted the whole length of the dash!
@pjjt4396 agreed! Mine I had to do something similar. Seem to be a couple inches shy to being all across on both sides. Looks great though when you’re going down the road.
life saver
I try. Glad it helped.
I decided to buy this very same model just because of this video so their sponsorship of this video is working for them. 😄
That’s awesome @elgatomarcus! Glad to hear. Are you doing the install yourself?
Curious of how your install came out? Do you want to share?
@@YourFloridaElectrician My brother installed and it was uneventful. I am very happy with the results. I went hard wired but with 40 amps and it's faster than I imagined.
@ElGatoMarcus Glad to Marcus! Glad it went well. Enjoyed the charger. It’s the one I use most currently.
I recently purchased a Legrand tamper resistant 15 amp by mistake, I was pissed. Before I was going to return it, I tried plugging things in a few times and I couldn't tell the difference, so I installed it and it seems fine. They may be better now, or at least the Legrand brand seems to be.
They can be frustrating at times. Once you figure out you just have to wiggle it a bit the headache goes away. Sucks even if you don't have kids the code requires them for new installations. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hate those fucking things. I near about smashed the plug through the wall before it'll let me put something in sometimes.
I hear ya! Just rock it back-and-forth it’ll go in.. 👍

Thanks for the kind words, man. And thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you great video. I learned allot. Is this on a 100w circuit or a 60watt. I think a 100w handles a 80 amp charger. Would that be a level 3 model ? Just a question I am new and just getting started.
60 amp circuit. Glad the video is helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Those lights look extremely cheap. As in cheap quality.
I thought so too but they work really well for the price. So well I had to turn them down a notch. They were too bright!
Hola de cuánto es el ke usa el Niple ke sale de la planta
Very little it cost to do things correctly.
When you work as an electrician apprentice you get all the fun chores, like running romex in attics where it is 200 degrees thru all kinds of dust, insulation, bat poop etc. And staying on the studs, where if you slip and put a hand or foot thru the ceiling. Then you learn all kinds of new skills. Just think what this job of yours would have cost. That is why people still try to do it yourself for this and plumbing. But, thanks to Yoo hoo tube we can at least ask a few questions, like: "can I watch" and "I will get an inspection for code, just want to let you know".
All of us in the trade had to go through it and that’s how you learn. There’s no getting to the top without starting at the bottom. I thank God for TH-cam helping all of us people prepare the learning phase where somebody went before us and they can explain how it’s done.
Extremely dangerous & everything will cause a fire...
There is an NEC & NFPA Books for a reason. The installation will work but better if done correctly.
loke it, neat job
@EdCar52 Thanks man for the kind words!
where are you located
That’s from St. Cloud, but that was recorded last night. Surprisingly tonight does nothing but a little little bit of wind
Very helpful. What did you do with the ground wire that came with the light?
The mounting strap for the light fixture has a ground connected to it. It was connected to the ground in the electrical box. See time at 7:50 in the video. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Salt is a good conductor
Very good 👍
Go figure .....
I have an EV so I’m figuring I won’t be driving through saltwater over my car for sure. 👍
@@YourFloridaElectrician Not all EVs are bad but Teslas QC sucks, the waterproof seals failed. I drove a 2016 Leaf through over 2 feet of water years ago, no damage per multiple dealer maintenance. I drive a 2023 chevy bolt now, I have yet to test it on a flooded road.
Well I have a Tesla so I will definitely NOT be making wakes through any saltwater anytime soon intentionally. That's awesome about the Leaf and bolt. I heard if the water gets into the car via through the door it seems to find it's way into the battery. Not sure if all cars are like that. I'm hoping the message gets out to anyone with an EV just to be on the safe side. Sucks to have your car burn but really sucks to have that fire burn your house down as well.
