Thinking of getting an off-road van, you have to watch this.
Is the additional cost for an off-road van worth the expense.
Well, in my opinion, absolutely and without doubt, YES.
Ok, I'll acknowledge that it's not for everyone, and some feel more comfortable with the security of the bitumen and a grassy, (or dusty) caravan park, but access to remote and ruggedly beautiful locations that an off-road van allows, can generate lifelong and unforgettable memories of secluded corners of paradise around our beautiful country.
Here's a glimpse of what's on offer to those prepared to tolerate the corrugations, sand and dust, and are happy to do some digging and get out the maxtrax when needed, and there is no doubt you will need to at some stage.
I hope you enjoy this short little vid.

    Our great grandfather William McKinlay was droving sheep when he died near Farina in 1914. He was alone and the sheep scattered. He was probably buried at Higgins Dam about 17 km east of Farina.

      @JD-oc3jx They were certainly tough as nails back in those days, I am constantly amazed at what was achieved by the early pioneers in these remote regions. Your Great Grandfather would be pleased to see what is going on in Farina now. It is wonderful to see the place coming back to life.

      Hi Dianne, You're the second person to say that. I was starting to think I was losing my marbles, however, In the West MacDonnell vid, right at the end, I mention that next up was going to be Trephina Gorge and I showed 4 or 5 teaser photos, so I think that is what you have seen. Hi Richard, I take it you are referring to the attachments on the deck of the board, they seem quite strong, I've not noticed any deformation in the deck at all when using the seat. You don't really put a huge amount of weight on the backrest. It is really just giving your back some extra support. The setup works a treat👍 Cheers Andrew &Lisa

      @TerraRoundOz ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Desmond, wow sounds like an amazing trip, you sure are covering a lot of ground and all the top spots. In August the flys should not be too bad, but I would definitely get a fly head net just in case, you can get them on line or any camping shop ( in Australia anyway). Regarding the walking poles, yes, definitely take one, they make the hikes so much easier. Good sturdy hiking shoes and quality socks are a must, you will live in them. The centre of Australia does get very cold at night but warms up after 8am, a good puffer jacket is great, light and easy to scrunch up and pack away. A light wide brim hat is a good take as well. It is very different country to what you are use to, dry and dusty but beautiful in its own way. Have a fantastic time. Cheers Andrew & Lisa
