Shooting street photography on film is a very good exercise and I'm really enjoying how these over exposed images look. The fact that my camera are overexposing in camera makes me shoot in a different way. I might get the camera fixed, but for the moment I will try some rolls and just keep in mind that the shutter speeds are off by a stop.

Easy photography system for everyone

I use this system for street and everyday situations, it totally changed how I expose, and for me, this is the sweet spot for straight out of camera images. To be precise when you can't recover, or even want, from SOOC images, is a must. I love shooting in auto modes when I am sure I will be back home editing raws from a casual photowalk etc. For clients or SOOC work I always use this method. P...

Hello! What external light meter are you using here? Are you using this to escape the battery complications (ie finding a 1.35v battery that’s inexpensive and last)? Thank you!!
Yes, the hard to find battery and not knowing how good the in camera light meter was, I opted to go for a keks em01 light meter. It works great. I later found out my speeds in camera was off, so a little repair will help with that. But the Keks light meter was awesome
@camloff há 0 segundo I built my large image bank pics from Portugal, UK, Brasil, Egypt, by means of Nikon D90 + Nikkor glass and got prizes. It works very well after some years. In the Hurghada, crystal Red Sea my d90 was used inside a UW plastic system and it was possible to have good shots with 18 mm lens in the Giftun coral reefs and fishes. I was amazed.
How can you set color -2 with a monochrome film simulation?😮
This is something AI did, but I chose to not use it. There is a comment thread here where people say you can use the wb slider du adjust the color. It has a impact on you bnw, hope you find it useful..
Beautiful work 🙌🏽

Very cool vid and interesting locations. Thank you for sharing your thought process, Kim. I also have never heard of the 60-30-10 rule before, but sounds intriguing!
Thank you Robert! I’ve always liked how other photographers shared their ‘vision’ on why they take a photo, so wanted to contribute. I like this format at the time, but let’s see how long before something else takes over the brain here 🤣 That 603010 rule took me by surprise, a real nice practice and fun to experiment with 📸
very nice, really!
Thank you so much Vera! Super inspiring for me to get your voice on this. 🙌😍
Very nice video and photos!
Thank you! I was very lucky with the amazing morning light. Now the grey season seem to be starting, but it’s also good in a way. 📷✨
What do you think about the x100vi?
I sold my xt5 for the x100 and been super happy. Build quality and handling the camera has been a big boost compared to the xt5. Specs say different, but I really love the flog2 and stabilisation better as well. Overall; very pleased and gets me inspired as I find it an eye catching beauty… 🤩

Another great one! Never heard of the 60-30-10, but what a great little exercise in awareness when shooting. Thanks for that!
Thank you Matt, same here, I’ve just came across that rule and it makes for great practice and just simple awareness of why some things might work. Will be experimenting with it further here 🤜✨🤛

Hello my frend
Hi sam, have a great day
I tested the Leica Lux app and I think it's cheeky to offer such an app and then at such a high price. You get very few setting options and just under 10 presets that are somehow supposed to look like what would be typical for a Leica. There are many apps that simulate the look, it would be an opportunity for Leica to open up a completely different market with a real free version. Even the native iPhone app in portrait mode has more setting options, apart from the fact that the app is not stable and crashes, but this is also heard about the M 11. Perhaps a feature. LOL But it clearly fits in with the obvious strategy. Technology from Asian / price from Wetzlar. So sad. As a former Leica user, I can no longer understand all this. Alternative: ProCamera. (17.99€) or Camera+ Legacy (5,99€) with "I love analog" Filters.
Oui, j’aime beaucoup.😊 j’aime le rendu, cette souplesse des couleurs. Ce mari bien avec la pluie. Bravo et merci pour la recette, je vais l’essayer. Au plaisir
Makes me so happy you enjoy it. Cool to try different stuff. All the good vibes to you on your shoot 📷✨
Brilliant! Love the extra use of B roll footage Kim! Was there a shot of the dual cctv crucifix shadow?
Hahaha, yes, haha, the cctv crucifix. I got a photo I believe, I must go back and see if I find it. Makes so much more sense now with your touch on it 🙌😍
@qimsim_ 🤜✨️🤛
Cheers for sharing, Kim. It is always so cool to see the video complimenting the images I saw earlier on IG. Maybe I lack some imagination, but I seem to get it in a more roundabout way in your video than looking at your images. Surely just me. Love what you're doing there. Wabi-sabi with beautiful light and shadows, lots of creative ideas. Beautiful!
Huge love Robert, makes me super happy. The hunger for more photos feels so good. I had a dip in photography vibes for some weeks, but feel refreshed and energised again. So good ✨much thanks to good words like yours here… wabi-sabi 💚 amazing

Thank you! I like that aswell, fun little session
Great video and photos!
Thanks a lot Steffen! 🤜✨🤛
Thanks for the video. For years, I used the Canonet QL17 rangefinder with its fixed 40mm lens until I eventually replaced it with a Leica M6 with 21/35/90mm lenses.
I must say I do have the feeling this will bring me to Leica in some way. Thank you!!
You are so very welcome Kim...kind of liked those light leaks though. Great stuff again Kim.
Thanks again Danny and yeah, haha, I also enjoy the light leak look 📷✨
Very cool video, Kim! 👌Seems you had lots of fun with your "new" Canon film camera. Is that small thing in the hotshoe a light meter? So small!
At first I was a bit sceptical on that light meter, but after a couple rolls I am really starting to enjoy it A LOT. It’s called KEKS-EM01, I got it second hand and been a real nice addition to the camera. Huge, huge thanks Robert

Really like the way of how you see the beautiful in the mundane with crooked lamp posts for example. I really appreciate how you have to take your time to look at the images you create to find the deeper meaning and intent. Thank you for explaining that further in this video. really helps to understand your thought process, Kim.
Robert, I’m looking forward to a good photo walk one day. I feel honoured and your kind words are beautifully, thank you! If anything I say can be of inspiration for anyone, I’m stoked!! Made my day, have a great one sir 🫶
lovely video man, beautiful location.....
Thank you! 😍
@@stillkim17 No need to adjust R and B in the auto white balance setting? I've used your simulation on my GFX 50r and compared it to my Leica SL2 and the look straight out of camera is very very close. Lovely look, maybe i can sell the Leica
That's unfortunate. I got as far as the weird farting noises 14 seconds in and gave up.
😆 Thats funny.
Cool vid, good pointers as well. I think it's a very good all-round recipe, especially also for colourful autumn images.
Agree with you. The greens are beautiful in this one. Looking forward to some more autumn photos. What a season 🍁
Very interesting topic, thanks for reminding us of the zone system, Kim. Heard about it before, but didn't hink it through. Not so much of a B&W shoter at the moment, but absolutely share the idea to get everything right in camera. That said I mostly go by gut feeling and only take a glance at the light meter readings. Actually the exposure compensation dial is the most used dial on my cameras beside the shutter button (A prio). Especially with the Fuji film simulations the look can change drastically with over- and underexposing. Especially for Classig Neg. Not really bothered by blowing out highlights or crushing some blacks. But I think I drifted away a bit from the original topic.... 😅🤣 Changing from DSLR to DSLM absolutely changed my way of shooting (WYSIWYG). Love it!
Yeah, the zone system is brilliant. And how we can ‘break’ the zone rules, blow out and crush on purpose is something I really enjoy. My screen on the x100vi is brighter than what I get on my phone, so I need to adjust the brightness to get a more ‘identical’ exposure when shooting from the screen. With the zone system we can just shoot and knowingly get a wanted exposure. Fantastic we have all these guides to help us do what we love. WYSIWYG 🫶🙌😍
Man, your videos keep getting better by the frame! Love the highlights of the morning shots and the compositions you picked. And the grading is fantastic too! Keep it up bro!
Wow, thank you! Such a good comment to receive. Feels very good 🙌🫶 Right back at you sir, the vibe from your morning shoot with Bae is delicious. ✨
Such a well produced video! I watched it like a movie! The music the colours and first of all beautiful photographs! Cheers!✌❤📸

Excellent video … thanks! I shoot B&W with my X100V and I’ll definitely give this approach a try! 📷😄
Really fantastic cameras. Thank you! and enjoy, hope you like it.
@@stillkim17 I’ve been using full manual control for a week now and it’s yielding excellent results … thanks again! The only thing I might add to make my landscape photography even more deliberate would be manual focus! I’ll also need to see how I get on using my Nisi ND and polarizing filters. 📷🙂

Thank you! Not easy figuring this YT stuff out. Luckily the process is still mad fun 😆🫶
I'll give this one a shot next time I'm in my SOOC phase, for sure. As for me, I use highlight metering. For each time of day I've discovered sort of the right EV comp. and then I just fire away. For example, in direct midday light I shoot with +0.7, in soft sunset light I'm at +0, in the shade during the day (soft diffused weak light, like overcast but weaker) I go -1.0 or -1.3, etc. Nighttime - manual, and I found that many people go full manual for it as well, for obvious reasons.
Awesome! That’s the best thing, when you’ve found your right EV an can just shoot. Nighttime I don’t do too much, might have a little focus on that going forward. We are heading into a long dark season where I live now 😅
@@stillkim17 where I'm from, half of the year the sunset time is around 4-5pm, so anything past that is in complete darkness. Some people say it's nighttime shooting, but really for me it's normal everyday shooting 3-5 months a year. Good luck with that, everything changes in regards to handling the camera during the night.
@@watching-youtube-nowlooking forward to the adventure. Thanks for reminding me 🤜✨🤛
Great video Qim, and excellent way to teach/inform people about metering and dynamic range. Since you asked, I’ll share my way of doing it, which is by no means the right/wrong way to do it, just my preference. I completely eliminated the meter from the display 😂 I use the live view mode to see where I like the look of the image for what I’m going for, and that’s what I take. Does it come with blown highlights and clipped shadows? Sometimes, but if I’m happy with the result, I consider it a win 🤙 Keep those videos coming my friend, they’re great to watch!
Thank you Jorge🙌😍 Live view shooting is great. Crazy that we can watch how the image will become, still amazes me 😆 I’m very happy you enjoyed the watch
