    Lived New Mexico for about 10 years and Santa Fe for part of that time. Santa Fe has gotten to expensive to rent or buy. If you come from California, Denver, New York etc. it may not seem expensive, but for the average family it is just too expensive even to rent an apartment. Getting overcrowded and the homeless people taking over the streets and store fronts. Trash and people waste is becoming a problem plus more crime. Loved the city back in the nineties. Love the weather except driving in the snow during the winter months, though the roads are maintained pretty well.

    Los Alamos has a lot more tax dollars because Triad has brought in a lot of tax dollars for infrastructure. Santa Fe tax dollars seem to disappear. The police and road repairs are nonexistent

    The cost of living is so insane here I’m looking at buying a house in Clovis instead (Clovis is a Midwestern/Texan dumpy town that’s still technically in New Mexico). I love Santa Fe so much but housing prices here are so ridiculous. Even a modest home here is in the millions and a run-down shack costs $400k minimum. I don’t want to be a renter until I die.

    Pronouncing the Spanish names of neighborhoods/developments with a heavy Spanish accent is not only kinda stupid, it also makes it very difficult for the majority of your viewers.

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are lots of people who move here from out of state and get their license and start selling real estate. I’m sure they will pronounce all of the subdivisions just the way you like. We will continue to pronounce street names, subdivisions, and anything else that is a Spanish or Native American word properly. And in doing so, we will find people that appreciate that and want to work with us. It’s ok if we are not for you, you can hire a Realtor based on their pronunciation instead of their real estate expertise. If you do decide to move to Santa Fe, it would be nice if you would take the time to have some respect and learn how to pronounce things properly over time.

    Are the locals friendly? I mean to others moving into the area for work who arent from there

    • @Livinginsantafe
      @Livinginsantafe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s a good number of us locals living in Santa Fe that are friendly. Santa Fe is a tourist town after all, it’s been that way for a long time. If you want to be successful in business and in life, you have to learn to take care of other people no matter where they come from. But there’s others that would prefer to put a border around Santa Fe and not let anyone in! Selfishly of course, they want to keep a good thing to themselves and they don’t want Santa Fe to change. And then theres your typical A-hole types that would be unfriendly no matter where they were dropped on the planet! 🌎 It’s a mix! Theres so many people relocating to Santa Fe, especially people taking jobs at LANL. You’ll find plenty of people who are in the same situation as you, and lots of our clients who have relocated are loving it. If you go back and look at it historically, people have been coming to Santa Fe for the same reasons for the last 400 years! The weather, the climate, the culture, the food, the history. If you run into an occasional jerk, just have to smile, shake your head and move on with your day. There’s too much to love and life is too short to let idiots ruin it for you.

    If you're trying to compare Santa Fe to urban life like Chicago, NYC, LA, yes it's vastly different; you might compare it better to Sedona, Flagstaff, Bisbee, San Luis Obispo, Auburn, Truckee, Bend. Smaller artsy, collegiate, retirement mountain towns.

      Definitely not a walking city, unless you’re just enjoying the downtown area on the historic plaza, or taking a stroll down canyon road. But yea, you’re definitely gonna need a vehicle to enjoy everything around town. Parking is actually not that bad unless it’s during one of the many events taking place. We eat downtown all the time, there’s always a meter spot that’ll open up. But during the Indian art market or Spanish art market … forget about it.

      Yes, you definitely can find a 2/2 condo for under $300K. For crime, what I recommend people do is use a crime comparing website like BestPlaces.net, put where you’re coming from and compare it to Santa Fe so you have a sense on if you’re moving into worse crime, about the same, or perhaps Santa Fe is safer. It really all depends on where you’re coming from.

The information I have found seems to be about 3.5 as the highest rate is this correct? Also are there parcels available for building in sizes of 18 to 20 acers and are horses ( say 2 ) forbidden by city ordinance ( excuse the spelling engineering major)?

      I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been treated poorly. I’m a local. And I’ve been mistreated by locals on occasion also. I don’t necessarily think it’s “locals” being mean to new resident’s or if it’s just that you ran into an asshat that treats everyone poorly. I’ve also been treated poorly by transplants, or people moving into our Santa Fe. On the flip side, my brother and I have been treated with the utmost respect and we’ve built incredible relationships with people moving here. Everywhere we go, there’s going to be trash humans and good ones. We try to attract good hearted people, because that’s who we are. And we want to stay as far away from the assholes as possible. Thanks for your comment!

    I'm going to guess that Benjamin is a Sagittarius and Brian is a Virgo.

      Haha! You nailed Benjamin down! I’m actually a Cancer, born right around the 4th of July. 😜 🎆

    Good stuff, except for the use of stock footage that’s obviously not Santa Fe or NM 🥴 Why not use actual footage of Dale Ball trails, SFNF, etc?

      We’ve gone out and shot as much of our own footage as we can. But sometimes, we have to use stock just to get a video live. But as we keep shooting, we will be getting close to 100% of all our own footage.
