What was going on in Colossae
Something was dreadfully wrong with the church in the City of Colossae. If not addressed it would bring ruin. A problem we too face today.

If Thyateira people now knew the Revelation, I bet at least % 5 of the town would convert to Christianity.Revelation is so mysterious and deep . The most interesting thing is that the first part of the Bible I read was about Jezebel since I am from Thyatira.
Thank you for clarifying the fact that Jonah had, in fact, died, Which is consistent with him as the type of Christ and as mentioned in Matthew 12:40.

How do we know that John Mark and Barnabas were wealthy? Is there a reference for that? I'm doing a research paper on John Mark (including Barnabas in the discussion as well). Thank you!
Hello Dave, I am doing a research paper on some aspects of John Mark's life. I appreciate your study on Mark very much. Could you share any specific books and/or any other references that you used for this video? I would like to do some in-depth research on John Mark. Thank you in advance! I have quite a bit of questions, but for now, could you please tell me what the source for your above quote (in the description of this video) that, "Born in Africa, John Mark grows from a scared youngster to a champion of the continent. The disciple that gives up wealth and luxury to serve his beloved saviour." Why was he a "scared youngster," and how do we know that he gives up wealth and luxury to serve his beloved saviour?" Or, in what way did he give up his wealth? Is that in the early church fathers' writings, or Josephus, etc.?
Very well done
BRILLIANT! It never dawned on me to think of the steadfast son as lost ... and not knowing it. But you are right to point out the synchronous or parallel aspect. I had never seen it. Thanks for that.
I can't quite fathom how Mary was confused at all... considering the virgin birth of Christ. How could she NOT know? Okay... perhaps she had questions and doubts (understandable) - but there was one thing she knew for sure that ONLY she could know - the fact of the virgin birth. By the time all of this was written down I'd guess they all had the benefit of hindsight... but hadn't the virgin birth of the Messiah been predicted/prophesied for decades at this point? centuries even? So how is it possible that Mary had any doubts at all unless... UNLESS... she had reason to doubt - but suggesting such would be SACRILEDGE wouldn't it? She HAD to know... now maybe she didn't know how to deal with it... how to explain it... how to work it into the family dynamics and explain it to her other children... but she HAD to know.
Dave . Glad to see you’re back in the saddle. Love your simple structure, style, and straightforward approach. One thing that I am always baffled by is how little people refer to the original Greek when studying scripture. Hebrew and Greek are very high context languages with vital nuances that do not translate directly into English. In James 2:14 passage reference says “ faith without works is dead.” The Greek word for works is “ergon” which means to carry out an action due to intent or inner desire. So, what James is saying is that if your faith is real, then Gods love should pour out of you, regardless of wealth, status, etc. on the other hand, if someone says they have faith, but their actions do not reflect the kingdom of God, then they are not truthfull
Good insights Thank you
The critical part of this whole thing is the statement to the faithful son. "All that I have is YOURS." Meaning that the older brother is in control. Do you think the older son will do anything for the younger brother once the father is gone? In the end, the younger brother isn't "dead". Nothing else.
You make an interesting point AW. I would take it further and say if the father goes there is no hope for either son. We put our trust in the faithfulness of a father who promises never to leave or forsake.
Wow. God found this video for me tonight. Best message I’ve heard in a long time thank you. Rather life changing to be honest
That’s great to hear Wendy.
What wonderful insights of our dear St Luke carer to St Paul and vital connection in the telling of the life of Jesus he indeed is one of our beloved signposts along "the way " ❤️🔥🙏
Thanks Kim
Dear David, thank you for this and your other commentaries on our wonderful, lift-saving and life-giving faith. You have shared with us, your viewers, helpful insight. I'm grateful to you and the holy spirit for making it possible.
Kind words, thanks Leon
Wow! Wonderful video! Out of all the gospels Luke stood of to me the most and it’s my favourite book. Maybe because I have dreams of becoming a physician
Thanks for your kind comment Abigail
For maybe 8 months I've been talking to a Christian counselor. The main theme is the prodigal son. I guess I feel so ashamed and unworthy, so I can't imagine God forgiving me and taking me back as His daughter. My dad was very abusive, so that's part of the problem, I guess. But I want to see the Father the way he wants me to see Him and to love Him. I've been struggling since 2020. I'm tired of being depressed and slothful. I desire to be whole in Christ. I don't want to hear Jesus say to me, "Why, why, why did you not come to your senses?" I'd appreciate prayers if anyone comes across this. TY
Every middle child: rolling their eyes. Neglected and ignored. The golden child and the golden enabler. lol smh
Excellent story telling.
Thankyou...
Second missionary trip Timothy joined Paul and Silas, not Barnabas.
Love the maps, the pictures. Very well presented, the history, the descriptions.
Ha ha, you are quite right, well spotted. I had not noticed that error.

Yes thank you Jesus
What a teaching, God bless you more, need more and more, i thank the Lord Yeshua gor such servant 🙏🏽
Thanks for your kind words
You raise many interesting questions about what was and what happened…. Most of these questions are answered in God’s last message to humans…. The Quran tells us about how Mary was conceived and how she was dedicated to the temple… how Jesus spoke at birth and the message and purpose he was sent with…. His family had no doubt about him… it tells how preached the oneness of God and how God protected him from crucifixion, and how God raised him to heaven, and how God will send him down again… and how Jews and Christians will know he is only a messenger from God like all previous messengers. The Quran tells you the truth about Jesus …. The truth that has neither been changed nor hidden since it was first revealed. The Quran is still recited in its original language and nothing of it has changed since its revelation was completed. I advise you to read it and you shall find all the missing pieces of the puzzle that Christians have been desperately looking for….
Biblical truth
I love this biblical truth
Thanks Susan
Salome i thought was pronounced as "sal-oh-MAY"
Ha ha, me too. Did I pronounce it wrong. I must go back and listen.
I find your videos really interesting…. Can you tell us a little about your background?? You remind me very much of Bible teachers from the Brethren Assemblies that l attended when l was young.
Hi Bob, I grew up in a baptist church in the South of England. But that church came out of the Baptist Union under a pastor called Barney Coombs.
@@DaveRebbettes a lot of Bible teaching today, tends to be motivational …so it’s good to hear good instructive Bible teaching….I look forward to more of your studies!
Didymus the Blind “It helps us to understand the terms ‘first-born’ and ‘only-begotten’ when the Evangelist tells that Mary remained a virgin ‘until she brought forth her first-born son’ [Matt. 1:25]; for neither did Mary, who is to be honored and praised above all others, marry anyone else, nor did she ever become the Mother of anyone else, but even after childbirth she remained always and forever an immaculate virgin” (The Trinity 3:4 [A.D. 386]). Ambrose of Milan “Imitate her [Mary], holy mothers, who in her only dearly beloved Son set forth so great an example of material virtue; for neither have you sweeter children [than Jesus], nor did the Virgin seek the consolation of being able to bear another son” (Letters 63:111 [A.D. 388]).
“ God is not interested in a big church, but He is interested in BIG FAITHFULNESS.” That is so well expressed.
Thanks Graham
If you have faith, it will show by your deeds. How can you call yourself a Christian if you don't want to demonstrate your faith by your works?
Well said Chris
Thank you.
That is a wonderful presentation! Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome
seedy?
Great lessons Dave. The believer really needs to hear this, especially today when there's a proliferation of false doctrines such as the 'once saved always saved' teaching which has wreaked havoc to the faith by removing the fear of God. Your posts resonate with my spirit, much like the teachings of my mentor the late David Pawson who played a big roll in my walk with the Lord. It encourages me to know that there still are preachers who remain true to the call no matter the cost. God bless.
Thanks Simon. David Pawson and I were very close friends. We very near to each other and I have been the Chairman of his Trust for many years. I miss him very much.
Sir, you are my absolute favourite teacher of the Word, and I thank our God for you!!!
Thank you! 😃
Interesting as well as inspiring as always. Thanks Dave.
Your very welcome
Excellent!!!
Thanks Joseph
What a powerful, bold, and needful teaching. I pray that it will be heard by many.
Thanks Mark...
May the Lord bless you, brother. Thank you for these lessons and testimonies.
You are very welcome Mr. H
I virtually leap at my controls, when I see a new video from Dave Rebbettes , his delivery is polished, and his content unrivalled.
😂 I’m EXACTLY the same!!!!
Ha ha, that made me smile...
Thank you, Dave! I so look forward to every new lesson you post! Each one is a true blessing. God bless you and yours.
You are very welcome, Shalom.
Then why did James tell the temple officials that the Son of Man was sitting at the right hand of God just before they killed him.
Hi Stuart, thanks for your comment. I may be wrong but I am not aware that James said this. Could you be thinking of Stephen? Warmest regards, Dave
The TRUTH, as Paul's conclusion cvomes directly from Abraham Romans 4:5 4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
Part of another "::I buy James and sell Paul" THIS IS AN EPIDEMIC , over and over,,
NEARLY EVERYONE STATES "MANY PEOPLE DISLIKE JAMES" SHOW ME- !!! I find just the opposite... "Pauls letters were never NOT considered Scripture , James floundered around until approaching 400!! Such a shame for all of those who who missed "his 50 commandments , for the Christians did not have enough
Paul who had amazing works is hated, James who did who knows what- Is loved and no one questions it- WHERE DID JAMES GET HIS AUTHORITY as there are no signs of power recorded.
I just now happened upon your message, about the Prodigal Son. Thank you so much for the beautiful explanation, of the picture we see , but don't see. It brought tears to my eyes. I have an estranged daughter & I've been wondering about my proper attitude toward her. I now have a better idea of the attitude I should possess, if she ever turns around... Thank you...
Very moving message, thank you. I pray that you find a Godly reconciliation. Dave
What a wonderful video. A work of faith! Thank you so much for this!
