To give the person the fairest and most benefit of the doubt, this is someone who doesn’t do research and comments on vibes rather than personal thoughts. Not all reboots are bad, it is just that the problem with reboots is that there are too many bad ones in a modern era full of reboots remakes and sequels. There are obvious differences between a remake and a reboot and a sequel, yet Ask Air and a majority of his subscribers either don't know or don't care about the difference unless it fits their biased narrative.

It seems like Jeff is below average at every effort he attempts, but he thinks he wants to be better. Take the cooking contest, he throws away his dishes because he knows they are not good enough, he's mediocre at best at anything and everything he does and it frustrates him. And that's a real thing a lot of people face. He encounters failure after failure, and honestly, I get his frustration. Natural selection breeds an instinct for success, at the end of the day it's not "it's 2024", it's that we are still animals and natural pressures from millions of years ago are still present, they're not going anywhere. Consistent failure is not healthy for anyone to undergo, we need success, as cliche as it sounds; everyone needs a "win". Too much or too little and people's behavior becomes unhealthy, even the basic need of success should be in moderation. He has a flawless routine, he strives to be better, and never gets it. He wants a basic degree of control, and yet it's always chaotic. But the moral of this is that he trusts his friends that he can do better, and even though he actually can't the outcome is better. While he is a child and he is inevitably immature in many aspects, his actual approach to things seems mature and calculated. To consistently fail, given his difficulties, and his ego, it's really rough. The desire to feel better, the showboating, ect. is less indicative that he's full of himself, but instead that he is consistently unfulfilled. He doesn't know how to act like a respectable person, because his personal needs have never been met. He clearly has empathy, so it's probably a case that his need for fulfillment/validation superceeds his need for etiquette.

The whole 'all reboots are trash' talking point can be so easily debunked if you're not in a constant state of 'new thing bad.' Hell, Marvel Comics rebooted their Ultimate Comics line this year, and it's been a commercial and critical success. Old readers like me love the new spin on characters and the new universe, and it's brought in a ton of new readers (like my younger brother, who never wanted to keep up with monthly comics until he read The Ultimates.) And the books are constantly hitting the top 10 of the highest selling comics each month. But no, I guess all these amazing issues and characters are just automatically bad because its a reboot. No other discussion needed.

If a reboot ruins your childhood, then your childhood wasn't as good as you think. The old show is still the very same, no matter what reboot, spin off, remake, or revival they make, the original series' gonna be the very same, and therefore your experience watching it should stay the same, unless your personal conviction is fragile and volatile enough to be affected by things you can easily ignore and more on.

Personally I relate a lot to Jeff as a late teen. I have OCD which does include strong and high anxiety. i strive to be perfect, hes a great character and shows kids its okay to have the strong emotions. nice job depicting him a good way instead of a brat.
