honestly, as a kid growing up with high functioning autism, I relate to jeff a lot and his struggles. I always felt like everyone around was me was super immature and that everything should be going my way because I felt I was smarter than everyone. And if something wasn’t going my way, I would breakdown. I’m a lot better now but that was a really confusing time in my life.
Appreciate your comment but lets not use the term "functioning autistic" anymore. I did the same thing for a long time but its really ableist. I dont think you had bad intentions. A more fitting term is "Lower/higher support needs" ❤
@chichiro8625 ...Why? How? You can't just say something is ableist with no explanation. How is it at all offensive for someone to refer to themselves how they were officially diagnosed? You don't get to make that kind of decision for other people without a reason. Maybe you find it hurtful or "ableist" but I was actually diagnosed with low functioning Pervasive Developmental Disorder (now lumped into the general ASD diagnosis) and I think I'd want to punch someone if they tried to tell me I'm just "high support needs" .. that sound WAY more demeaning to me! Low functioning is a correct label. I struggle just to feed myself. I don't understand how it's mean to say that my disability impairs my ability to function? The only people I ever see saying anything against functioning labels were diagnosed as high functioning or self diagnosed and it's really irritating to me.. >_>
@@chichiro8625I use it for myself man, we shouldn’t use it for anyone that feels insulted by the term, but we can use it for ourselves if it feels the most comfortable

This video sorta helped me out tbh. Have been overthinking how to be near- perfect when it comes to health, which has ironically made my life worse lately. I think I'm gonna try to remind myself that doing too much isn't always gonna do more for my personal progress. Thank you! :)

It seems like Jeff is below average at every effort he attempts, but he thinks he wants to be better. Take the cooking contest, he throws away his dishes because he knows they are not good enough, he's mediocre at best at anything and everything he does and it frustrates him. And that's a real thing a lot of people face. He encounters failure after failure, and honestly, I get his frustration. Natural selection breeds an instinct for success, at the end of the day it's not "it's 2024", it's that we are still animals and natural pressures from millions of years ago are still present, they're not going anywhere. Consistent failure is not healthy for anyone to undergo, we need success, as cliche as it sounds; everyone needs a "win". Too much or too little and people's behavior becomes unhealthy, even the basic need of success should be in moderation. He has a flawless routine, he strives to be better, and never gets it. He wants a basic degree of control, and yet it's always chaotic. But the moral of this is that he trusts his friends that he can do better, and even though he actually can't the outcome is better. While he is a child and he is inevitably immature in many aspects, his actual approach to things seems mature and calculated. To consistently fail, given his difficulties, and his ego, it's really rough. The desire to feel better, the showboating, ect. is less indicative that he's full of himself, but instead that he is consistently unfulfilled. He doesn't know how to act like a respectable person, because his personal needs have never been met. He clearly has empathy, so it's probably a case that his need for fulfillment/validation superceeds his need for etiquette.
I always loved Jeff, he's always been a parallel to me. I always need things done a set way, 90 percent of things on this planet gross me out, and much more. Most of my thongs are due to things like autism, but what really makes the contrast is the fact that all these things were dismissed by my parents, believing that I could just learn the autistic traits out of me. Despite them knowing I'm autistic even before middleschool, I know way more about autism than my own family, leading to complications that cause me to see myself as below even a dog.
im pretty sure that also affected jeffs life cuz a father figure is actually really important for a child's confidence and self esteem which jeff does NOT have
ngl growing up watching Clarence i always felt that Jeff was one of those characters that either had autism representation or ocd (coming from someone who is on the high functioning spectrum herself) i’ve always seen jeff to have asperger’s syndrome, for example, the episode where he fights clarence over his fries there was some seems where he yelled really loud when clarence asked to touch his fries which reminds me of how i use to act whenever another child wanted to play with my horse toys.
