Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R 2022
Today we're doing an intermediate service on the legendary Suzuki Hayabusa while I share some thoughts on some of the silly questions we get asked.
I have mixed emotions about this bike because I can concede that it is a better bike than the Honda Blackbird but I can't bring myself to like it more.
My sentimentality comes through and while personal feelings do not affect the outcome of a service, i can't help but reflect on my own bike and the one that took it down.
So i really hope you enjoy

Ducati Monster 800 on the road again
มุมมอง 659หลายเดือนก่อน
No big project here today. Just a nice quick resurrection of a little black monster that had been dormant for 4 years. needed a fuel pump, a new battery, a little bit of attention and a lot of love. So that's what we gave it. I usually narrate some introspective questions, but this time I couldn't think of anything to write so I just said what I saw like the good old days of the earlier videos....
Honda VFR800 resurrection
มุมมอง 16K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we had the opportunity to restore this Sports Touring icon to more than it's former glory. The bike was sat for an extremely long period without being used. and the inside of the fuel tank was quite scary, so the bike received the full treatment. It got totally new suspensions and a full combined brake hose kit, with all the brakes fully overhauled. some other minor trick bits at the cust...
Honda Fireblade full bike build
มุมมอง 1.8K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
This bike is a beautiful representation of the way humans interact with technology. It's a 2002 Honda CBR954 that came in for a service with 60K on the odometer. It wasn't quite running right and needed a rebuild to bring it back to its former glory. So there's no disassembly in this video because the bike was already worked on before we decided to rebuild it. But we do get to see a bike appear...
CB1000R Minor service, majorly enjoyable... for me anyway.

Today I was all alone in my shop. I could have called in sick but decided to actually do some work instead... someone else's job.
Ducati 1198 rebuild quick overview

this is not a full overhaul. the bike just had high mileage and so needed a top end rebuild and i though it would be nice to see a complete bike emerge from a skeleton around an engine
Suzuki DRZ400 engine rebuild
มุมมอง 10K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we're rebuilding a Trick Suzuki DRZ400 Super Motard. The engine suffered from catastrophic oil consumption and needed a new top end and bottom end. And while we were in there we added some bling. apologies for the stop in narration, there was a problem with copyright music. this was one of my early videos before i made it big on here ( ;). and like a youtube noob I had the radio on in the...
Ducati ST4S Shifty business
มุมมอง 9Kปีที่แล้ว
Today we're fixing a 2003 Ducati ST4S with shifting trouble. This happens to a lot of bikes when an internal spring breaks on the selector mechanism. The result is that you can only select gears one way and not the other. This particular bike has had a very expensive history but the owner dearly loves it and so do we. Luckily today's job was only a minor repair. But as the sped-up and edited vi...

Servicing a GSX1400, a regular day at Flywheels
มุมมอง 22K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Instead of a video about a full custom project from start to finish, I've been asked what a regular day here looks like. So here you go. Some nice trick bits going on a Ducati monster and a nice Suzuki gets some maintenance. Hope you enjoy.
Honda Firestorm Project - Part 1
มุมมอง 14K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a 2002 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm. The owner had big plans for it a few years ago so gave it to a mechanic who gave up half way. So the bike sat in his storage for around 5 years in a disassembled state. The time has come to do something with it. This is not a full restoration, the goal for this part 1 video is to fix all the problems, add a few trick bits (sprockets, braided lines, reser...
Oil Filter Crushing... how we save the planet one filter at a time.
มุมมอง 5972 ปีที่แล้ว
gofund.me/abde4184 Every service gets a new oil filter and everyone throws the old one straight in the bin. but no one really knows exactly how much used engine oil and scrap metal ends up in landfill. So I've finally done an experiment to show exactly how much from each used oil filter can be recycled. Now all I need is an actual OIL FILTER CRUSHER to save my poor tired arms. Please visit our ...

A customer of ours decided to invest in some clever upgrades so he could enjoy his new bike on longer road trips We installed a 32L Astro Top Box with the Ventura Rack, a set of amazing Denali DM2.0 adjustable Driving lights with fender mounts and switch control harness, a wireless phone charger, a chrome radiator guard, sidestand foot and crash protection. Making a Ducati engine stand

I love DRZ-400 ❤
what rebuild kit did you use? and List of every tool in the video. please and thanks
dude. I'm not sure that's a reasonable request about listing every tool. but I can tell you the rebuild kit is by Wrench Rabbit, it has everything, and very reasonably priced
@@flywheelsmotorcycles lmfaoo i know the tools part was a joke, appreciate you bro
Great watch! Appreciate your dry humour. Is that a gen 1 Hayabusa ;)
this is a 2022 model. Gen 3. thanks for watching
This video was somehow recommended to me by YT. I watched it all and i must say that it's probably one of the most bizarre videos i saw in 2024 and the year has nearly ended so trophy for the channel for great achievement in that respect.🏆 Looking at the title of the vid i wrongly assumed that i'll see something interesting, intriguing or new about 3rd gen Busa but instead i saw a basic bike service accompanied by commentary about dumb questions from workshop's customers. You really got me duped by this somewhat inadequate title of the vid. I'm kinda annoyed really.. Few things to say though: 1-Asking a "service technician" what he(or she) rides is a perfectly good question. I'd want to ask this just out of curiosity or to spark a conversation. Absolutely nothing odd or weird about that in my personal view. I'd ask a dentist what paste they use, again pure curiosity. 2-Some of your customers are indeed dim. Especially the one who pays money for changing fluids and filters on such "covered " and known bike like Busa. It's mind boggling that people can be so inept that lubing the chain or changing oil is commissioned to a workshop.. 3- I mindfully mentioned "service technician" term as all i saw in this vid is basic service. Being a mechanic is ability to work on much more involved stuff. It's a sad reality that real mechanics who tear down vehicles to pieces and fix serious issues get confused with service technicians who change brake pads and spark plugs.. It's like putting a brain surgeon in the same league as a nurse. I hope you are a mechanic, i just didn't see much mechanics in this videos. Regards
thanks for watching.
13:07 - there used to be photos floating around of the end result of people cleaning their chains with the engine running. It wasn't pretty.
True! that's why there's a disclaimer in the description. do as i say not as i do.
You are clearly much smarter than your customers
ouch, I'm certainly not claiming that. just pointing out some of the stupid questions we get, and at some point i have to think that they realise they've asked a stupid question

Brilliant video ! And very professional servicing you performed . Hats off to you mate !
Cheers!
Great video thanks ❤
Bro the music so annoying
I love this bike! Awesome content ;)
The audio is just horrible, but the video is great
Is this a bike channel ?
Thank you no. It’s a bakery
@flywheelsmotorcycles oh, I thought you were cooking up some nice machines...
ever heard the story about Narcissus?
i prefer to think of it as the story of echo
So you sell bkes? Great video, so funny because the Blackbird dethroned the ZZR1100 (320kph), the Busa dethroned the Blackbird and the ZX14 dethroned the Busa, the circle of life lol. Oh what is that red chain lube, where can I buy it and what colours does it come in?
i knew it! you're the first one to ask that. its a new product made by Ipone. comes in red, blue or white. the Aussie supplier is the importer for Pirelli so pretty much any bike shop can get some in for you.
@@flywheelsmotorcycles LMAO thanks the red will work on both bikes:)
Hey Flywheel would love to ask if you fix Bikes?
Sorry no. We are a doggy daycare centre
@@flywheelsmotorcycles 🤣🤍🤍🤍
Would've been better without music. Barely can hear you talking.
i know bro. read the description. early production copyright fail. really sorry. won't happen again
Awesome video, always great to see another bike back from the abyss. Congats on over 1k subscribers.
Thanks mate!! Good looking out 🎉
Thanks for sharing a bit of wisdom. Much needed in today's rat race.
Great to finally see another video. Keep em' coming!
awe!! thanks bud. you keep watching I'll keep making. got a beauty coming up shortly. Hayabusa here we come.
Why does the lower cover have that extra bit of plastic?
lower cover? you mean fairing? you mean the belly pan? Or are you talking about the front cylinder's timing belt cover with the extra air intake at 4:35 ? If so it's purely for ventilation, it might help the belts keep cool and certainly help removes any debris, but seriously doubt it does anything to air-cool the engine considering the cylinders are water cooled. And don't worry about debris getting in, they've got a pretty decent filter at the front. great question BTW, if you notice the slats at the back of the rear cylinder's timing belt cover, that's the exhaust. if you have air going in, you gotta have air going out somewhere
@@flywheelsmotorcycles yeah the timing cover, thanks for the reply it just looks so goofy to me unlike my air cooled hyper where the covers are symmetrical
Hey man love the videos!! I have a Ducati monster 750 torn apart hasn’t started in years I lapped the valves and they seat well with no water leakage but when I put them into the shim and rockers the one side leaks and doesn’t sit far enough down in any position does this mean my shins are too big and need adjusted
a good indicator if the closing shim is too big is if there is too much drag on the camshaft when it rotates against the closing rockers. If you think the opening shims are too big you can take them out and still check the closers without the openers in. also if the opening shims are too big there won't be any clearance.
Thanks! there isn’t any clearance and it seems when I turn the crank 1 valve is always slightly open. Also bought this bike recently it’s a 2000 Ducati monster 750 bike is baby blue can’t find any other bikes like it I believe it’s Oem color but have no clue because the only other bike I’ve seen on the web is a custom build
Any chance you could list all the bling items and maybe links to where one could purchase them?
No way. That crankshaft needs a good cleaning and polishing then use a micrometer and bore gauge to get and absolute reading for oil clearance.
I love all the comments. Arm chair mechanics. You all realized this video is edited and not a how-to right?
+1 😊
Currently in my garage. 2000 VFR800 2008 AN 400 2024 DRZ 400SM I've seen two of those on your channel so far.
you lucky duck!
You forgot to put the top cam chain guide. Everything else is awsome
Don’t worry. Everything went in. Just edited the video. But well spotted
How much would it cost to have something like this done on a similar model bike like a (2003 Kawasaki KLX400SR) that would share the same parts as a (2003 DRZ400)?
TOP😊😊
thanks a bunch 🥲
So what about all the oil you got on the head gasket from when you oiled the rings?
I would think you could just buy a new top end and a ring kit and some gaskets pull the top off. Throw some cams in there clean the cylinder through the rings on the piston or maybe pull the wrist pin. Get a different jug do a big bore.
Lapping cmpd
As soon as I saw the white stuff coming out, I was thinking oh yeah, backyard mechanic just as I suspected
I also noticed the circular pattern of tightening down the case halves instead of a star pattern like how you would do lug nuts, but you know, backyard, mechanic, and all
Yep, it’s always nice to soak that head gasket with with a bunch of oil that you dumped on the rings. I’m sure that head gasket won’t slide out ever lol
I have a couple of these no chance, pulling the top end apart without yanking the engine out of the bike
subbed 👌
cheers bro!
This is ART! 😮
wow! thank you so much
Thanks!
No thank you!! believe it or not you are actually my first super thanks
Mine burns about 1/2 qt every 1000miles since new but I just switched to full synthetic seems to help a bit

I learned a lot about my new ST4 thanks to you guys! Could I contact you all by email?
of course. our website is flywheels.com.au
Loved the video! Can you drop a link to the new cylinder head? My head looks just like yours did on the exhaust side as well.
the customer bought it himself, i think it was just a random vendor on the internet who had new old stock. sorry

After seeing the New South plate I looked your shop up and we are neighbours. Now I know where to take my DR if something like that happened. Nice video!
glad you liked it, hope to see you soon
The 5th gen VFR has always been a bucket list bike for me, but for some reason I always end up with something else for the sake of convenience or what's available at the time. With a throaty pipe this is hands down one of the best sounding bikes out there- the gear driven cams just do it for me. Thank you for sharing this with us- a machine like this often transcends the sum of it's parts.
You really feel like Batman when you're riding one.
I honestly cried watching this mate especially when you started it up for the test ride it's been nearly 20 years since I remember hearing it run and I really hope the owner get to enjoy it's new life thank you so much mate
Totally agree that the ST4 and ST4s are great touring machines. Highly under rated and excellent value for money. The Corbin seat is a smart move since while adequate the factory seat isn't as good.
Amazing job is there a part two this has inspired me to get my old girl on the road 😊
