Haha yeah, it’s pretty sweet on Fridays! But I work 4 10-hour shifts Monday-Thursday and have to be at work by 6:45am, so my mornings are usually a little too rushed and slightly chaotic 😂

Definitely power hiked the climbs. Trail running is a lot of hiking so I made sure to practice climbing and power hiking during my training. Towards the end I was walk/jogging to service roads just because I was so tired but the last 2 miles I ran 🤘🏽 thank you! Will do 😊

This was super helpful! I have my first 1/2 marathon in August and then have my eyes set on transitioning into 50 km training to achieve this (race or personal adventure) by the end of the year! Love to hear this from another full time worker who just enjoys getting outside. I can’t always get on trail but definitely 1-2x per week.
Ahhh that’s so dope!!! Good luck on your half! The 50k is one of the most epic things I’ve ever done, 10/10 recommend! And thank you! It’s totally doable, just get on the trail when you can 🤘🏽🩷
Congrats on your ultra! What training program did you end up following?
I used a local running group’s training plan! I had 1 speed work run, 3 easy runs, and 1 long run each week for 5 total runs weekly. Loved it and never felt overtrained 🤘🏽

Hello! Our schedule varies through the year but this is our current hybrid split: Total body lift weights Monday/Wednesday/Friday for about an hour, and we run Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and occasionally Sunday. Runs are anywhere from 30 minutes long to 1.5 hours long at the moment. We are working on upping those Saturday long run miles 🤘🏽

Logan and I both wear a Garmin Forerunner 😊 love it so far but have heard great things about Coros watches!
Eating every 45 mins on a run seems wild to me but hey whatever works
It’s definitely an adjustment from road running to trail running as far as how much energy I expend. But this has made a big difference for me! Shorter runs I don’t typically eat that much, but definitely on a long run with lots of climbing it’s important to keep fueling 🤘🏽😊
It’s super normal for those who are endurance training/racing to consume calories this often.

Hi Amy. Your channel just popped up in my recommends. I signed up this morning for a local 50K ultra on a local ski hill here in British Columbia. My first ultra and first race over a HM distance. My only beef with the Salomon packs is that itchy fabric on the underside. It almost chafes at times and for me requires a short sleeve top (which in heat is not what I want 😂). When is your 50K?

What wildlife do you have? Im from the uk do it blows my mind that you guys have to worry about bears etc
Im pretty lucky, in Alabama we don’t have bears/mtn lions to worry about like you do in other states. The biggest concern for me are snakes here, but I run highly trafficked trails so not as big of a problem and they are used to people ☺️ I actually got a snake tattoo because I see them all the time running trails! They are friendly and usually just passing through, so I feel like they are my “trail spirit animal” 😂
The most dangerous animal I can encounter is a Swan 😂
