Great and Wonderful (A Ted Sandquist Song)
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song
I have fond memories of this song because, as a child, it was the first one I got to sing on for the monthly Psalm of Life recordings. Yes, a children's choir sang parts of this song yet the lyrics are powerful and speaks to all nations coming before the throne of God to worship Him! (Ps 86) This is a powerful song, an exaltation of our Holy King and it does me good to sing it again! May you, also, exalt the King of the Ages and the only Holy one, as you worship today
Great and wonderful are Your deeds
O Lord, God almighty
Just and true are Your ways
O King of the ages
Who shall not fear and glorify
Who shall not fear and glorify
Who shall not fear and glorify Your name, Oh Lord
For You alone are Holy
All nations shall come and worship thee
For You alone are Holy
Your righteousness and justice Have been revealed
HOLY
All nations shall come and worship Thee
HOLY
All nations shall come and worship Thee

The Lord Will Never Leave You Alone (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 892 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written primarily out of Psalm 91, most people see this as a protection song, or one to read when trouble arises, and though i am not disputing those claims, I would like to go even a step further. I want to change our perspective from running to God when danger comes our way to making our home in the stronghold (fortress or castle or safehouse) of God. Not...
Blessed Are (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 992 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written primarily out of Matthew 5 and the Beatitudes, this song can be challenging as it shows us places where we may be falling short of some of these portions of the sermon on the mount. However, the last line of the chorus is so helpful to us when we feel inadequate, and it say "Blessed are the children of their heavenly Father who rise to the calling o...
Send Out Your Light and Truth (A Ted Sandquist and Phil Keaggy Song)
มุมมอง 1093 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written partly out of Psalm 43 where David is oppressed, depressed, distraught and questioning. He then asks God to send out His light and truth for guidance and it is a revelation to me. Darkness is fear and we are so susceptible to lies when in darkness. So when you find yourself there, in fear and darkness, pray to the God of light and truth for help and...
My Help Comes (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 893 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written out of Psalm 121, a song of ascents, this song is declaring a strong sentiment to ourselves, to others who are around us, and even to our enemies. And that sentiment is, the one in whom we trust to help us is the maker of heaven and earth! If we need help, who better to be the one who comes to our aid than the all-powerful creator God? Sing this to ...
His Song Shall Be With Me (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 944 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song This is the second song, in my last few recordings, that was written out of Psalm 42. This one, however, echoes Romans 8:15 "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.'” In this song we reject fear and cry out to A...
Blessed is the Son (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 944 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written almost exclusively out of Psalm 45, a messianic psalm that points to Christ. But the sons of Korah, the authors of this particular psalm, have an interesting theme running through this, that seems to only make sense to us on this side of Christ. There is a love-song or even ballad type of writing here. Almost like a young bride gushing over her husb...
I Think of You (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 1095 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song Written out of Psalm 42, This song is a tribute to a wonderful and all-powerful God that wants to be with each of us, individually! One of the other very unique things about this is, while we are speaking to our God in it, we also speak to ourselves too. Saying things like "take hope" and "Do not grow weary", calling our souls to worship the Lord. May you, ...

Lyrica after my thoughts on this song This song was written in China, in prayer and intercession. Written out of Acts 17, John 3:16, 1 Cor 2, and many other portions of the epistles of Paul. In its simplest form, this song is THE Gospel. Sing it over yourself, your family, unbelievers, and even creation itself! May you, also, sing the wonder and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ as you worshi...
I Worship You (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 1576 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song During worship seminars, my father used to say that worship is the only legitimate response to God moving in our lives. This song perfectly represents that quote. Worship isn't about what you want God to do in your life, Worship is about who He is, what He has already done and who we really are when we accept Him in our lives. May you, also, praise all that...

Lyrics after my thoughts on this song It is great to celebrate our risen king, to give Him worship and praise. In fact, all worship and all praise is not more than He deserves. To You O Lord (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 2507 หลายเดือนก่อน
lyrics after my thoughts on this song I've always considered this song more hymn-like in its melody and also an intimate prayer in its lyrics. In this song we proclaim that our Lord should get all praise and glory but we also speak to our part in union with Him and our part in growing ever more like Him. The fun part about it is, it is speaking to God in the plural, as "we" and "us". Perhaps li...

Lyrics after my thoughts on this song What a great song to declare! Jesus, who came as a baby, died for our sins, then rose in victory, and now He reigns, he triumphed and WE should celebrate along with all creation! The Lord Reigns (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 1228 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song This song's message reminds me of the Christmas song, Joy to the World. For in that song, we sing that the world should rejoice for her Lord has come. This song, though not a Christmas song, is about that Lord already coming and still reigning. It is clear that we should be joyous that our God is king and that He is in charge. deep in this song is the idea ...
Sacrifice of Praise (A Ted Sandquist Song)
มุมมอง 1139 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lyrics after my thoughts on this song This song does something truly fantastic, we verbally praise the Lord with high praises during the chorus then plea with Him to help us live out praise in our lives during the verses...it is a wonder to worship to. To live out worship is just as pleasing to the Lord as expressing worship through song. May you, also, find ways to sing and live for the Lord a...

All That Are Before Thee (A Ted Sandquist Song)
I have sung this one in the silence of my heart many times over the years - often during pauses in corporate church worship. Thank you for sharing the lyrics aloud.
Sweet incense is "all-timer" for me.
Reminds me of the summer days of Celebration, early 90’s in Dryden. Mary Johnson taught a group worship dance to all. I think this was one of the songs she used.
This song was, perhaps, the least remembered "folk dance" that we did. In fact, I didn't even really remember it till I read your comment. We still sing this one at church down here in Louisville a bunch
Easter celebration, Statler Auditorium, early 90’s. I love the way music and song trigger such memories of worship. Decades old, yet current. Seems like a glimpse of the eternal. Thanks Jordan!
Tim, that very moment was very powerful to me too. We had the palm branches and walked through the isles of the Statler on Easter Sunday. I absolutely love hearing which songs impacted people through the years! Blessings on you
Beautiful. ❤ Reminds me of many worshipful Christmas seasons in Dryden, NY I still hear your mom’s voice singing this. I love the way His praise redounds between the generations. So glad I stumbled across your videos. It’s like a living “Psalm of Life” songbook.
Thanks, Tim, for the wonderful reflections and sharing these memories!
I first heard this song at Jesus '75 in Pennsylvania. I have been singing it my whole life along with Lion of Judah. Ted wrote some of my favorite songs. Thanks for sharing.
I love hearing the songs each person remembers and which one impacted them. Blessings on you and yours, Gary.
Love ir. Hallelujah ❤
Much love, John!
I love Courts of the King too!
It was, and is, a powerful album. May many blessings, from our Lord, be yours
@@JordanSandquist are you related? If so, did you grow up in Love Inn in Freeville, NY? I've just recently found the Courts of the King on Amazon and was thrilled to get it on CD! We have it on LP...I've missed the worship of the songs...so moving to me..started singing those songs in the early 1980's when we moved to a Christian community in Maryland...we sang these songs in worship... I visited Love Inn (twice) back in the early 1970's as a teenager searching for the Lord... I'm sorry I didn't recognize your name when I first saw your "Lion of Judah" video.... Thank you for sharing...🙏
Yes, I am Ted’s 3rd son and was born and raised at the Love Inn. I love hearing the stories/testimonies of people as the recount how God worked through that album and other worship songs. I wasn’t yet born in the early 70s but I love that you visited there. Dad is still writing and singing, but we moved to Louisville KY in 2001. I love posting some of his songs and the conversations like these I get to have because of doing them.
I'm going to walk up to you at heaven and let you know I heard your song
I look forward to it! I’ll be there with my dad, who wrote it, and we can celebrate together
Just listened this again and thanks so much for sharing such an anointed song. ....love it.
My pleasure! This was and is a special song for me, too. Blessings on you and yours and thanks for the comment
Jordan, thank you so much for your song w Phil Keagy! I remember fully rededicating my life to Christ October 11, 1974 after attending Backroom Chapels’ services in Stillwater, Oklahoma while beginning College at OSU. A sister in Christ took your song off the radio and we had sung that quite often, but on that night, I ran in late for one of their weeknight revival services and they were right in the middle of your song. I immediately finally surrendered fully during that song, asked for prayer to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit later after the service, which I did! I’ve never been the same. This song is my all time favorite to sing and worship on my guitar 🎸🎶. I will also ask what chords you use and will email you soon. I hope to meet you some day brother. I live in Madera California now, retired. God bless you abundantly brother. Eternally grateful for your music !😅🙌 Ken Ortloff
Jordan, sorry I mistook your having written this song. Is Ted your father? Is he still alive? Thanks for publicizing and recording the song.
@kennethortloff4986 Yes, I’m his 3rd son and he is still alive and writing music! He’s currently in central America encouraging pastors and civil leaders and spreading the good news! I love hearing your story, how the Lord apprehended you and how you are still after Him! That dad’s music was used by the Lord is such a blessing, may God bless you in new and powerful ways!
Thank you for sharing.
Praying for you, my friend
Awesome ❤
Much love, John! Thank you
Hey are your Ted’s family member?
Yes, I’m Ted’s 3rd son
Did you know there’s a Swedish version of the song (Du är min sol och min sköld)? I didn’t know it was originally written in English, given its author’s Swedish name. I understand you are Swedish-American (having Swedish ancestry). So I never reflected upon it when I heard it first time. I took for granted it was a Swedish worship song. Now I know better. Thanks for sharing it on TH-cam. It’s a very beautiful song. So special!
My great grandfather, Gunnar, moved to the US just after the turn of the century. He was born in Borås, Västra Götaland, Sweden. He wasn't a believer until he after he married a Swedish woman named Sara and the Lord apprehended him. He then helped start the "Sunday School" movement in Colorado, where adults would gather prior to church services to study scripture in an effort to live it out together. His son, Richard, then became a pastor and eventual board member of the Swedish Covenant Church at large, in which my father was raised. The story doesn't stop there, but all that to say, we love our heritage and I love to hear that some of Dad's music is being used to worship God back in Sweden! Thank you for the comment and God bless you, my friend!
@@JordanSandquist wow, great story! Yes, 1,5 million Swedes emigrated in total, many of which were Covenanters. I myself belong to a local church affiliated with both the Pentecostal Movement and the Swedish Mission Covenant Church and the Methodist church (now Equmeniakyrkan=Missionsförbundet, the Baptists and the Methodists) where once Carl Boberg was pastor. His song How Great Thou Art ( O, store Gud) was written here in town. You probably know the story since you have Swedish Covenant background. Most Americans are not aware it's Swedish, except for the Swedes in Chicago, where it was sung in Swedish...
My grandmother told me about Carl Boberg. She sang it to us in Swedish. She passed away 10 years ago in the retirement home in Chicago at the ripe old age of 104. She was a Carlson from the Youngstown Ohio area. My father was caught up in the Jesus movement out here in the states in the late 60s and his music was fundamental to many in that season. We are now part of a Spirit filled, bible believing non-denominational church where my oldest brother is the head pastor. Though we are not technically affiliated with the Covenant church, the influences and lineage is still strong with us. One day I plan on bringing my wife and 6 kids to the land of my ancestral heritage, I'd like to find out more about August (Gunnar's father) and his wife Lotta Svensdotter Sandquist.
@@JordanSandquist that’s very interesting how he got in touch with the Jesus movement, your father. It has been such a fountain of renewal to many “dead” and dry circles and denominations. It affected the whole Western World and beyond, not just America. Thank you! Some Jesus Hippies came to Stockholm and other cities in 1972, preaching and singing in the streets. They were welcomed by Lutherans and Baptists, Methodists and u name it. Lewi Pethrus invited them to his Fildadelfia church in the capitol. That had an enormous impact that he opened the church doors, cause he was an authority on spiritual matters. If he was ok with it, others followed. I have seen a picture where a long-haired Bob Weiner ( from NYC) sits at the feet of pastor Pethrus who was very old then. I had the privilege to meet Bob many years after the photo was shot, and he was not long-haired any longer and wore a suit…But praise God, he was still on fire for the Lord. He never mentioned he had been in Stockholm Philadelphia in the early 70s. I later found out. Wow, you got a legacy, bro! Jesus Movement is modern church history! I saw the Jesus Revolution movie in the beginning of this year. Man, I was totally blewn away by it. It revolved round Calvary Chapel in Southern California, with the late Chuck Smith and Lonnie Frisbee, R.I.P. I’ve attended a charismatic Lutheran free church in Kalmar where I came in touch with the Vineyards people who often came there from California to teach and preach. The Vineyard movement was a direct result of this movement I have understood. So, it has born plenty of fruit. May God direct your steps as you plan to visit the Old Country when the time is right. Hope you find out more of your family history. Actually in this age of Internet it’s much easier to do genealogical research, especially when you have Scandinavian roots. That’s because of the very detailed church records which go back to the 17th century. They’re possible to access online if they are older than 75 years. We had a State church which kept records of all people, for good and for bad. The Non-Conformists of course didn’t like the domination and control of the individuals' religious life. That’s why they broke away and sometimes even emigrated to America with its liberty, political as well as religious and civil. Gud välsigne dig och de dina! 🇸🇪( ‘God bless you and yours!’) 🇺🇸
@larsbjornland6729 dad knew Lonnie, once he left Calvary Chapel he came east to Fort Lauderdale Florida where dad visited many times. I know of Bob, of course, but I’m not sure if dad and he had their paths cross, but I’ll ask. The Lord really did and is doing wonderful things through that movement and we are thankful for the part we get to take in it! Blessings upon you and yours too! I appreciate the connection, thanks for commenting!
I was introduced to this song back in 1996, and it remains one of my favorites of all time! I can’t help the tears that come to my eyes when I think about my place in His place - a doorkeeper would be just fine!
YES! Thank you for your comment, I can feel those same tears many times when I get sing these words from scripture, blessings upon blessings be yours as you worship our Lord

Thanks Jordan... One of his tunes I'm trying to recall was "Send Out Your Light and Truth, and Let them Lead Me Lord." I remember him playing it with Phil Keaggy (as were many of these tunes). Do you have that one?
Sure do! I’ll get that one done soon. Just recorded a different one an hour ago or so. I love getting requests
Just published “Send out Your Light and Truth” thanks again for the request! Blessings
Thanks Jordan! I was there mid-1970s when these worship songs were like God's daily manna, there in the Barn. There are a few more I'd like to hear again. Keep it up! Thanks

Thanks, John!
Thank you Jordan for this rendition of your father's song, which has been so meaningful to me. Ted's evocation of Psalm 45 inspired me as I recently translated it into the language of a people who have yet to hear it. May they also come into the Son's courts with praise and adoration.
How wonderful to hear, Ed! Blessings upon blessings on you and all that the Lord is doing through you.

Probably my favorite Ted Sandquist song. Thank you so much for posting this. Your commentary is also greatly appreciated. Cornerstone Christian Church* sang almost all Ted Sandquist music in late 80's and early 90's. Such powerful worship, in spirit and in truth. While I can't recall for sure ever personally meeting your father (though it feels like he led worship with Dennis Peacock's visit) it seems like I know him well through his music. I give thanks to God for him often. Thank you for carrying on the legacy. Praying for you, brother. *corner of Clinton and Meigs, Rochester, NY -- currently a bar, thus serving different kinds of spirits
