      Hello, I made a few adjustments over time. I eventually removed the multi-water system and went for a single system with a bigger cup. The hens kept flicking the straw and it was getting into the the small cups making it difficult to get fresh water. I also made sure the bigger cup was high enough and in a place where the hens wouldn't get straw in the water. It was much better after that. These cups are larger and fill automattically when they get low. Check on Amazon. You can use a bucket with more than one cup to it also. They can easily just be plumbed in drilling a hole on the side of the bucket with the proper rubber rings to keep the water from spouting out the sides of the hole. I eventually moved the hens outside, as I needed more use of the garage area.

    SAME!! had a consult for color 2 weeks passed and instead of taking my hair highlights down 2 levels she took it down to totally stripped white my Virgin hair. Outcome dry as hell, fried hair. Condition is everything for me. It's been 1 year growing out so far and would not let bleach touch my hair again! I strongly suggest anyone having their hair dyed gets a basic understanding as it's the key words for hair stylists. I wish I could turn back the clock but for sure no matter what anyone says, I will be ignoring the "You would look ten years younger with your hair dyed." Oh and your hair grows fast. I am the same age and my hair is growing 5 inches at most in a year. I also have long hair.

      It's good for others to read the comments before going to the salon, so they get a good view of the possibilities of what can happen. Oh, the lessons we learn through these moments. Yes, I get it. For some, hair does not grow that quickly. Hang in there, you'll get your long beautiful hair back in good condition!

    I'm a big proponent of DIY. I've been cutting my own hair since covid, where I live it was costing me AU$130 (maybe US$90 or so) for a simple wash and cut so I've saved hundreds in the last four years. I don't trust hairdressers to do what i like, and at least if I get it wrong I only have myself to blame, but I'm really happy with my hair. Anyway I think your hair looks great, it's difficult to disguise the growout and I think you have done as good a job as can be done. I would be perfectly happy with that. My only question is how did you only bleach the dyed part at the back, or did you have help?

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, and great question. Be sure to watch the next video's. I agree, the salons charge a lot of money for simple wash and cut and when you do your own you are in control. I mostly trim my own hair until I need big cut and a pamper me day. For the bleach in the back I went to a supply store got good advice on bleaching myself and just bleached from the dyed part down. If you put bleach in the grey part (to feather it as the hairdresser suggests) the grey will turn yellow and really, to me, it's pointless because then you're waiting for that bleached out part (on your grey hair) to grow all out. Once you bleach out all the dye, and for me it took a couple of times to really lift the dye, then at least you're dealing with a base that can then be toned to a grey that matches. I have gone from the toner, to actual permanent dye. The toner barely lasted in the bleached out part after a couple of washes, so I used a permanent snowy grey color, which matches and works much better. Having said that, because everything has been stripped from the bleached part of my hair the color doesn't hold as long, so I put a protein solution in my hair, before colouring, so it will take the dye better. Now, the bleached part of my hair with the permanent dye holds longer, about 3 weeks, if I don't wash my hair too often and keep the water a little on the cooler side. Hope that helps to give you a gauge of what to expect. ;)

    This is what I'm trying to do. I'm not interested in lopping it off, though I have in the past. It looks great, btw and like a natural grow out as opposed to a dye job.

    • @therenaissancewoman2080

      You’re welcome 😊 It's really easy to bend to going to the salon. You think they know best or get what you're wanting. This is what happened, even after I had a thorough consultation interview. I wish I would have bleaches it out myself and sought to another route. I'm a year and half now past that time and my hair is slowly getting to what I want. Now it's just a matter of cutting out the bleach. This is easy enough to handle. Can't wait for it to be over. In the meantime I try to make the process bearable. Stay posted... new videos are coming!

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Toner was used in the colouring process. The hairdresser put it on all the grey, which was discussed in the pre appointment interview NOT to do. Then she did it. The toner faded away quickly after I washed my hair multiple times to get rid of it. However, it was such a heavy colour that it left the white grey a bit dingy afterwards. It still took a while before the grey reappeared again. Check out the update video and you'll see what happened. ;)

    Hi there! New subbie here! Question, do you find that your health has changed/improved since ditching the dye? I keep hearing that it's so toxic and that it enters our blood stream and causes all sorts of imbalances. I am soon to be 51, in menopause ( no menses for 1.5 years now ) and REALLY considering going grey <3 hope to hear form you XO, Janet

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not noticed any change in my health since stopping the dye. I have a very clean diet so it could be that my system has been dealing with it without me even knowing. We often live with breakdowns in our bodies because it's been a gradual process in adapting to the invasion. We learn to live with things we shouldn't. I know many women are sensitive and surprised to realize the dye had been causing them problems all along. Tattooing has it's potential seepage dangers as well. Anything unnatural is just that and always has the potential of harming us. Some people are just more sensitive than others. If you do choose to go grey now you will still look vibrant. And you never know how your lovely locks will create a new trending look!

  • @JanetElevating
    @JanetElevating 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    you are radiant!!! i am turning 51 in a few weeks and I am really thinking about letting my greys grow out. my family (all boys) tell me not to do it because i still look young and that it may age me. they ultimately tell me if it makes happy to do it but they aren't thrilled about it. im really torn about this. a part of me feels ready to let go of the woman i once was and welcome the woman i am becoming. i have been thinking about it for a few years now but lately the pull is getting stronger.....

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Boys are fickle. Lol. But mostly I think guys do like the dye because they like so many others associate grey with aging and looking run down. It doesn't have to be that way. Us women, in our menopausal stage in life, can change that stigma of aging to death and present ourselves as vibrant, radiant women who are ready to take a new lease on life! If you've been thinking on taking the great grey leap for a while, maybe you're being nudged to release more of the beauty just waiting to bloom <3 You want to see what the bloom looks like.

  • @r4tgl
    @r4tgl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You are stunning because honestly I don't think many people can pull off gray or white hair without it aging them dramatically.

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you <3 When you look after yourself while you're still young it can hold a long time. Aging seems scary to the young, so we need to make it unscary and show a different way. When I'm out an about town I can't help but notice older women with grey hair. Mostly short grey hair. I can see their potential to look radiant if they only made an effort. Some women have natural radiant beauty and don't need any cosmetic help at all. For so many women who are devoted to dying, just so they don't look old, they would stop dying if they could just see their potential. For many women who are aging, it seems they've given up on any hope of maintaining their youthful beauty. It all begins with a smile and youthful attitude. ;)

      I've changed my shampoo and conditioner a few times so I'm not quite settled on any particular brand just yet. I do buy from the salon so I know I'm getting quality. Eventually I'll find the right brand. I think it's important to use a good conditioner to help keep it from going wild. You may consider using a hair spray to keep those unruly strands under control.

    I am 56, and I look younger in comparison to my friends (so they told me). I think it is, because I have used sunscreen regularly for 20 years and they have not. I follow your advice not to get bitter, but unlike you, I also think a sign of youth is awareness and engagement. Not to smile in every position. We older women have something to say and are giving advice. I am Genaration X.

    It is lovely to wake up to a new video from you! I am also going gray (cold turkey), and as a dietitian, i can honestly say that what we learned in school is NOT the best way to honor our bodies.... and if something has been processed or is laden with sugar, avoid avoid avoid . It makes such a difference, in joint pain (inflammation) and menopause symptoms. I have high hopes that my hair goals will be met by the time I turn 60, in 2030! Cold turkey grow-outs are not for the faint of heart, but I can see how God intended me to look starting to emerge in the mirror a little more each day. I'm thankful for his individual fingerprint on our hair patterns, and no two are ever alike! Thank you for all you do and the work and time you put into your videos.

      Thank you for your comments. Yes, the information on diet has been misled by institutions. Following calories is not the answer, rather following the nutrients is the way that leads to healing health issues and the way to the fountain of youth! For those of us who have grown out from the dyed process, through those greying years, have no clue how the pattern of grey looks. It's a bit of a surprise to see it in the fulness. We can work with what we have and have a beautiful experience through the grow out process that will last.

    Just the video I needed. Thank you for sharing your trial and error in both of your videos. You have given me some things to consider while going through this process. I was thinking about going to Sally's also and talking to someone to see if there was something I could use to help blend the colors or at least make my transition a little easier. My hair is long also and has been growing out for a year now. So I am at the point of no return as far as I am concerned. Otherwise the last year would have been all in vain. So moving forward you have given me some ideas that I hope will benefit my journey. Thank you.

      That's great! Proceed with caution. Try a test strip first. You're in control of how this plays out. I'm glad my videos have helped you to get a perspective on what is possible and what to look out for. Good luck!

    Your hair looks the best it could possibly look during a grow out I think. I’m trying to decide how to do mine, and we have a similar pattern and hair type. I may do something similar by lightening the “old hair” as much as I can, but keep it toned through the process.

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you have long hair and want to hold onto it this process takes longer. As you can see it's a long journey that takes you into moments of wonderings and curiosities. If you bleach out the old dye be so careful not to get it into your new grey growth or it will turn yellow too. It's still a process to keep toning it as it washes out but I find I can handle it knowing there is an end to it all. Just find what will work for you ;)

    I have long hair, and am just starting to grow out my grays (which are basically white!) I’m nervous about doing too much to my new growth. Was it worth having her process some of your grown out gray? Or did it get so brassy it was just another “problem” to deal with?

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I regretted going to the salon and having this done. It's not what I asked for or was promised and assured of in the consultation. I personally would not recommend it because they can just turn and decide to do their own thing. I lost a whole year of growth. It took a long time for the toner to come out because it was so dark. Not what I asked for at all. Just hang in there with the grow out. I felt confident enough I could do a wash out bleach only on the old brown dye part, without touching the new grey. It's good for viewers to see the stages of what can happen and how things can turn bad. Lesson learned. I hope others learn from this. Just hold on and do fun undo's to help get you through the process. ;)

      I'm glad this is helpful. As we grow out our natural grey we go through the whole process of wanderings about what to do with our hair after a certain point. It is a challenge to hang in there and when you think of doing something... like what I just did, you can see the whole process. Hang in there. It does get better!

    I love your hair and was shook when you were at the salon, I just knew that's not what you were wanting. I am on my journey and am where you were when you went to the salon. You did an amazing job doing it yourself with advice from the beauty supply, great job! I am curious on the up keep since it's been a few months. I've been researching Overtone coloring conditioners. They have pastel, vibrant and extreme, I've been thinking of using all three to give some great depth, but still researching and will probably let it grow out naturally. I just have those moments of impatience and frustration. You are an absolutely beautiful, classy and inspiring woman. I've really enjoyed your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey. Hope to see another update when it all grows out, curious to see, I know it will be absolutely gorgeous!

      Yes, let it grow out naturally!! I'm still on the grow out journey, which will be another two years. My hair grows slowly. I've discovered the toner does not stay in as long as I would like. The good news is that it will all eventually be cut out. Thank you for your feedback and kind words. Stay posted another video is coming up. AND hang in there!!

    Hello, I am new to growing out my hair cold turkey, and have every intention of keeping it long. I was so happy to find your videos, but this one was tough for me. I was on my morning walk, listening and glancing down here and there. When you began the blending, I was getting anxious, and even said "noooooooooo" out loud, lol. Your authentic hair is stunning, and when I saw the bleach and color creeping up into your perfect new growth, I had a desperate desire to climb through the phone and politely request a pause button. I am so grateful that due to the magic of internet, I got to enjoy the next video where you color-corrected to a good level. It looks lovely. I also enjoy timeless fashion and femininity, and apparently keeping my hair long through this (likely due to length) 5 year transition, is not for the faint of heart. Thank you for all of these videos, and I do hope you continue to post updates. You are the closest I have found to my own style and goals, so they have been a treasure to me. Cynthia

    I cut my long hair into a bob I think it’s too much change at once. The silver plus the short hair. I also bleached my ends. I don’t know if I should continue because I feel blah

  • @MyLifeInTheDesert
    @MyLifeInTheDesert 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I use the cooling violet with volume 10 developer alone to tone the ends to match my silver grow out. However. It only lasts 3-5 days. It’s also very damaging.

    • @therenaissancewoman2080
      @therenaissancewoman2080 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      May I suggest using a permanent silver that will match your new grow out. Toners don't stay for long. That way it'll give you some time for your hair to grow out. Hang in there!
