Thanks for coming. I love having chickens too! I just did another incubation and had a successful hatch! I'll be posting that video soon.

I'm glad it inspires you! For a first time try I had pretty good success. I've just started a new incubation batch. I did a couple of things differently to make it easier. The temperature gauge that clicks the heat off is a must have. I only bought it part way through the first incubation after my temperatures spiked a few times. Scary! Almost lost all my eggs. So now, instead of having water at the bottom of the holding container, to maintain humidity, I put in a basket with some straw to make it comfortable for the chicks. I've discovered dry hatch works well, if not better. So towards the end when I have to do lockdown, then I'll increase the humidity. That's the other change I made with this incubation, I put in a container sitting above so I can easily put in water through a hose keeping a sponge or cloth wet. 65% humidity the lowest it should go during lockdown.

I seemed to have lost your last comment that came after this one. You mentioned you're thinking of starting a batch for the incubator. It's such a fun process! Watch out... you'll be hooked in no time!

@@therenaissancewoman2080 Probably so. I'm only wanting 10 more at the moment. So I'm trying not to get to carried away. Lol. I'm just hoping they're not 10 roosters. 😂

Be sure to hatch more than ten eggs incase you have some quitters. Also, if you have more roosters I would let a few grow up to maturity, find the nicest one, then keep it for the hens. If you social with him and train him he will be a wonderful rooster. They are trainable. And so funny!!!

@@therenaissancewoman2080 yeah that's what I'm thinking about I'll have enough hens for 2 rooster. My barded rock isn't nice to humans or cars. But is to all the ladies. So I try to keep him around for that reason. I have spur Mark's from the sneaky devil. Lol
