My favorite album. I like to call it "Beautiful Depression" because of how this album sends you in this trance when you're feeling so down.

I remember a friend of mine bringing an advance copy of SNW over to a hang we were having at my sisters in September 2006. We all just sat quietly and listened to the whole record, then spent the next two hours going back over each track and having a lively discussion. That same group saw them do two back to back nights at the House of Blues in Dallas the following year, which was a cool little bookend for the experience.

Awesome to see the kids enjoying Deftones. Always wondered why more people didn't know about em'. lol

Gore is their best album since the first four. Easily.

I was 18 when that album came out. Preordered it at my local record store. I remember the day. I walked to the record store instead of driving, came home and listened to it beginning to end on my front porch and was blown away. There’s very few days in my life that I remember in such detail.

Even though Chino spearheaded this album more than Stephen, I will say that the drumming and bass playing on this album is incredible. Abe and Sergio brought their A game.

Deftones was and never has been a fucking metal band

Oh man i hated this album. Felt like a bad break up. And the guitar tune literally pissed me.off.

L(MIRL) Is my favorite from Gore after the first minute. Actually didnt like Phantom Bride.

I hope he repented and prayed to Jesus before his death, because his mockery of Jesus in that one mask in particular was not a good thing. We will all be judged by our actions and thoughts . The moment we die we will stand before our creator and will either be in paradise , or torments . I pray he asked for forgiveness before he left this world and did not end up in hell being tormented to this very day and forever and ever .

“What we’ve come to expect from Deftones” is silly. It’s a ride, enjoy the ride.

Gore was very much too much Chino, and less Deftones, it has to be all of them. It would be the same as if their next album was too much Steph and less Deftones, especially considering how Steph was significantly excluded from Gore.

I wanna know; did he really get arrested at the end of the video? That's fucked up the way he asks them what's up and without skipping a beat they just handcuff him and throw him in the car. Didn't look like they even patted him down or mirandise him which makes me wonder if it was a real arrest or just a fake setup...

A songwriter looking up his own lyrics online is just wild to me.

Prayers/Triangles is a banger. Otherwise, this album is weak. I’m not normally that kind of guy, but Deftones died with Chi. The first three albums are epic, the first six are great; it was all downhill from there.

Every deftones album eventually grew on me fully except gore. It’s my least favorite record from them but I enjoy prayers/triangles, phantom bride, & hearts wires. Those seem to be the most cohesive /stand out to me. Ohms didn’t stand out much to me either.

I remember being a sophomore in high school and skipping my first three periods to go to Best Buy and pick up this album.

This along with the self titled album are my favorite. Side note back to school is the worst deftones song ever.

Gore was released when I was a sophomore in highschool. My closest friends and I practically made it our soundtrack for the summer and the rest of that year. Having lost those friends forever due to real dark life situations, gore holds a huge place in my heart. All I can do is reminisce when I hear most of those songs. Being a troubled kid, being high, hot summer days. It’s a 9/10 album.

I love the Gore album, but I didn't evolve with the band. I pretty much bought all of Deftones CDs around the same time (apart from Around the Fur, the self titled, and White Pony, which I already had), and listened to them in random orders.

Even their “worst” album is listenable asf to their real fans. Just not our favorite, but still good. Out of 9 original albums they made 1 that wasn’t favorable. I’d take those odds any day of the week.

I didn’t like Gore at first but it’s actually a solid album. Hearts/wires is one of my favorite Deftones songs

Per your question regarding Chino and Frank being in Seattle, the reason was the rest of the band felt they were comfortable with their parts, and so chino and frank went to Seattle to finish vocal layers, additional guitar and keys and atmosphere and frank was a big part of that record being in sequence they way it was due to then fine tuning everything so well.

Gore is actually one of my favourites. It fits somewhere between Self Titled and Koi No, but I have a messed up order. 1. ATF 2. Self Titled 3. Gore 4. Koi No 5. Diamond 6. SNW 7. White Pony 8. Ohms 9. Adrenaline

Always said gore was underrated. It took me a couple of listens but once it sunk in, I found myself playing it a lot. Hearts/wires, Rubicon, Doomed User,Phantom Bride, etc. It’s a banger.

Stephen and I think Chino were both on acid while writing Gore. That’s why he said that the writing was different. Aside from Chino and Sergio being the main ones to throw around ideas, Stephen was on a trip. That’s why it sounds that way.

Hell yeah! I was getting worried about you, my man. I will always, always list Deftones as one of my favourite bands, but none of my favourite songs are on 'Gore'. There are glimmers of greatness on the record, little snippets of sonic mastery, but they seldom if ever last for an entire track. Pittura in particular needs to be locked away along with Mein. 'Gore' for me feels like Chino kept saying "Hey, how about this..." and the rest of the band just sighed and said "Fine, whatever, hit record." It's still Deftones, just not DEFTONES, MOTHERFUCKER. P.S I genuinely laughed out loud at "I'M FUCKING HORNSWOGGLED!"

Deftones have been my favorite band since high school, but honestly they’ve had about as many duds as killer albums for awhile now. Gore was bad, and Ohms was only slightly better than that.
