U.S. meddling in Pakistan provokes mass protest
In August 2023, The Intercept reported that it had obtained a classified Pakistani government document. The document revealed that, in a meeting held on March 7, 2022, the U.S. State Department had pressured the Pakistani government to remove Imran Khan as Pakistan’s prime minister over his neutrality on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The document, labeled “Secret,” includes an account of the meeting between State Department officials, including Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, and Asad Majeed Khan, who at the time was Pakistan’s ambassador to the U.S.
The diplomatic meeting came two weeks after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which launched as Khan was en route to Moscow, a visit that infuriated Washington.
One month after the March 7, 2022 meeting, a no-confidence vote was held in Pakistan’s Parliament, leading to Khan’s removal from power. The vote is believed to have been organized with the backing of Pakistan’s powerful military.
Pakistan’s position on the Ukraine war was quickly reversed after Imran Khan’s removal, which was followed, as promised in the meeting, by a warming between the U.S. and Pakistan.
Since Khan’s removal from power, Khan and his supporters have been engaged in a struggle with the military and its civilian allies, whom Khan claims engineered his removal from power at the request of the U.S.
The political struggle escalated on August 5, 2023, when Khan was sentenced to three years in prison on corruption charges and taken into custody for the second time since his ouster. Khan’s defenders dismiss the charges as baseless. The sentence also blocked Khan, Pakistan’s most popular politician, from contesting elections.
Since Khan’s imprisonment in August 2023, his supporters held major protests in Pakistan. The latest occurred about two weeks ago, on November 26. That protest was forcefully dispersed by Pakistan’s military.
To explore these developments, Dimitri Lascaris spoke with Amanullah Tariq. Tariq is a host on the Eon Podcast and is based in Lahore, Pakistan.

Israelis 'Flooding' Into Cyprus to 'Buy Anything In Sight'
Isn't the U.K. also in an economic shambles ? The U.S. doesn't even pretend anymore to be Western Europe's benefactor. The most unbelievable of all this ,that Western European governments let themselves be led by the nose to a disaster. It seems that their media and politicians are literally being bought by the U.S. It's the way how the U.S. also keeps its Arab military regime vassals obedient. The U.S. doesn't act any other than a protection racket. Schulz is performing an obvious theatre , Germany is a U.S. vassal state anyway, so he's doing Washington's bidding. For Washington it would be two birds with one strike if the Europeans and the Russian Federation start to bludgeon each other. Chaos and war was always very beneficial to Uncle Sam. Both worldwars made a superpower of the U.S. The revenge crazed Nazis were used to let them start a war Germany was guaranteed to lose for the second time. "Far Right"...? as if the two allowed U.S. political parties, mainly in the service of the Pentagon and CiA are not "far right"........lol....

What a dodge, silence speaks volumes
This guy doesn’t know the fact. He is sitting in his home and coming up with the actual number of dead people. I don’t believe him at all as he is not an investigative journalist who does his ground work. What is his bases of claim?
Even this much that they're ashamed to say yes, for me is some hope. Yet, sadly we have to go long way that they can't just say a simple "no". All Lives are equal.
Depraved NATO Delegates???
Evil society
psychopaths - all of hem
This is all sad. War it expensive. America has little to lose because they are far out here surrounded by waters. Europe is bearing the weight of all the wars in the Middle East and now eastern Europe. The world can not afford these endless war. America war industry is very violent to it's citizens as it is to the world population. A huge beneficiary of money printed in America is for the military industrial complex and tax cuts for a few predatory cooperations, while our healthcare is sending more people into poverty.
"Two dozen at the max"@ 7....is he referring to human lives or bananas..
Ukranians dont have baby hostage
This simple question is exposing all of these so-called developed country leaders. They are successful in many cases but utterly failed to ensure equal attention for all human being in this world, or to talk against Isr-@el's geno-cid-e.
And what about the 7th of october, madam ???...
The US are causing wars All over the world these world leaders should tell the American government to leave there countries out of his bull shite wars and these sanctions need to be stopped immediately as the American government are out to weaken every country they can
Great guest. Enlightening, amusing, and compelling. Fabulous choice.
Palestinians are good people. Americans and Israelis are not.
Pakistan army is a traitor and US slave in the region.
The guest is really good.
Neither matter man only money is matters for them
the way tbis guy is framing imran khan's positions is really ridiculous. not a fan of this guest
Can't answer the question.
this guy is completely full of crap. please don't buy into his nonsense against PTI
please bring in zulfi bukhari or imran riaz or someone who has actually suffered under the current regime. not this fat privileged self proclaimed "leftist". imran khan is the most selfless relentless and brave leader u will ever find. thats the guy who built 3 cancer hospitals that still treat poor people for free
THE WORLD IS WATCHING!!!!
this guy is not an honest guest. PTI never made any official claims of 300 deaths. this guy tries to think he is doing a balancing act
Guess who controls your media?
Satan's Chosen People
Good analysis. Pakistan is a weak state and has no role in global affairs like India does. It can’t even get a pipeline completed to access Iranian oil. Pakistan lacks a popular and confident leader of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto stature.
Dimitri this man seems like he is the puppet of our military establishment. If you really want to know what is going on in Pakistani ,contact generalist. Moeed Pirzada . He is in Washington DC. He has to escape from Pakistan because of the prosecution from of our military establishment. Moeed Pirzada. We also have retired military officer living in a Ontario. The generalist in Pakistan are under threat by military establishment. Look Also, Adil Raja in UK, Haider Mehdi’s perspectives in Ontario Canada
Great answers by Glenn
USA lost its brain and soul to these wicked Zionist.
What great question!
You mean Israel is bombing with the help of USA . The world can see that ISRAEL IS USA !! Asad is a doctor , had to take his deceased brothers place as ruler !! UK and USA have made sure there will never be peace in the area !! They want to kill as many of the Arab people as they can ! USA is not working in the best interest of the American people !! 🙄 TOO many kings just want to kill the peasants . Shameful behavior of leaders who know better .
👍 to the growing Partnership (Rianne Eisler) family of "resistance" in the west.👍👍 Regards, Viet vet/Ecologist VFP
You should stop this, dude. It's the world of the stronger. It has nothing to do with law and whose right or wrong 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sheik Kasimi denied an american request for St Martin's Island and started looking toward China for bangladesh's future and now Pakistan who has had good relations with China is in turmoil. Coincidence? I think not. edit: Excellent Trump imitation.
Europe is doing very well!
Love your channel!!!
We did a program about the non-existent peace dividend in February 1992 with the African American publisher of The Oakland Tribune Robert Maynard and the Russian consul general Gennady ? It was nominally a World Affairs Council of Northern California community outreach event for African Americans in the East Bay held at the Bethlehem Steel building at Lake Merritt. We had a high school Russian language class who had visited Russia with their teacher Vera Eby. A great evening.

It would be great to have a discussion about the role of Jen Stoltenberg in all of this. It seemed to me to be was one of the main cheer leaders of the war in Ukraine.
Great interview. Thx guys
In the 80's the CIA used CIA prostitute Joanne Herring to help control Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq. Do the CIA still use prostitutes to control Pakistani military-politicians?
Trump has nothing, is nothing. Putin's been egging Trump on w/nude pic's of "1st lady". Russia, all the world (Macron handshake) is mocking him/his administration. Russia, world leader's are going to force Trump/U.S. to it's knees hence Is-Not-Real. They've got more than enough to blackmail the whole lot of them.
I'm sorry to say your guest is repeating the punchlines of the military government - The number of killed in protests he has minimized, dismissed the boycott movement as ineffective, and endorsed the military narrative that they bought Khan to power when the facts speak to the contrary and in fact held his party back from gaining the full seats they won in 2018
