Dear comrade Marouf, I have great respect for your knowledge and I’m so glad that I can learn from you, but I have to tell you that I don’t think you understand the nature of the current war.
You are frustrated by the lack of support for the people in the west (I will from now on refer to us by what I think is the appropriate term: the colonial countries).
Our passivity is appalling, and your frustration is quite understandable, but please: don’t expect anything from us.
What you are fighting is not an other heroic war of redemption, it is the war to end 500 years of colonialism.
In the past the suffering of brown people moved the harts of parts of the population in the colonial countries, and the heroism of the warriors of the south was inspiring.
So we came up with solidarity. And aid. But while the will and effort to help was mostly genuine, the practice was still compatible with the colonial mindset:
You - weak brown people - needed us - strong, good white people - to help you, because you basically could not take care of yourselves.
And even if things sometimes changed, for the better, the colonial world system, that has gone under many names, the current being ’the rules based order’ remained.
This is different: the great eurasian war, that began in Afghanistan in 2001, has spread and slowly morphed into a general war between the colonial countries and the rest of the world. A war that you are winning.
Keep doing that! But don’t expect anything substantial of the masses colonial of the colonial countries, the fact that you simply don’t need us any more is scaring the shit out of our leaders and is making the clique of enlightened humanistic civilised progressives that in the past would have marched and protested and supported your cause utterly confused. It will probably take generations before we as a society even begin to grasp what is happening right now.
    Greetings and thanks from Sweden.

Since Dimitri is Greek, why hasn’t he reported on Greece’s role in supporting Israel’s actions, its close relationship with Netanyahu, or its trade agreements? Greece supplies Israel with goods imported from Turkey and other nations then re-sells them to Israel. Greece and Israel have strengthened diplomatic, military, and economic ties in recent years, especially under Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This partnership includes joint military exercises, the use of Greek military bases, energy cooperation, and ever increasing trade agreements.

This is such an important conversation. Thank you for bringing this excellent analysis. I find the appeal you both made to western audiences very compelling. It is time we no longer remain an audience, witness to this ongoing atrocity. There is so much to unpack, about how the west moves with devastating economic and military effectiveness, using mercenary contras as Laith called them. About how we do have power, both the power to understand what is happening, and the power to make these wars very expensive here at home, the power to stop war has always been here at home. The question is just what are we willing to do, how much are we willing to commit, do we finally see that liberation everywhere depends on courage everywhere. There is no safety but struggle. We don't get to decide what happens in other communities, but we have a clear responsibility to put an end to violent invasive reign of the us.

Laiths comment that the Russian govt would not have survived had its leadership been blown up like hezbollah I think was far fetched. We love Laith, he is great, but it seems Laith maybe if off his game today and is undergoing some issues, understandable, I hope for him the best!
