Eh. Before you ask, no I cannot currently play this work. I didn't keep it under my fingers. I learned it in my 20's. Now almost 20 years later I came across this rendition. First of all, the work is 220 years old. If you can't bring anything new to it then why perform it? Why can't you come up with a new interpretation? And why did you not repeat the exposition? This is completely outrageous. If the work says to repeat the exposition then repeat it. It's extremely disrespectful to the composer when you don't. This leaves me to say that this was extremely bland, vanilla on top of vanilla. It was unimaginative and didn't reference any emotion whatsoever. So I ask again, why perform it? Just to say you did? Anyone saying things like "oh this is the best version I've heard, it's beautiful, what a masterful player. NO. Listen to Schnabel, Serkin, Brendal, Schiff. Then come back and listen again. If you can't hear the blatant differences then .......

피아노의 성능 개량으로 폭발적인 연타가 가능해져서 이곡이 작곡되고 연주되기 시작했다는....

요즘 클래식 입문해서 친구랑 템페스트 바렌보임부터해서 여러 피아니스트들의 연주를 비교하면서 들어보고있는데요, 바렌보임 이후에 다 아 맛없다..재미없다 하면서 듣다가 지용님 연주를 들으면서 친구랑 저랑 동시에 오 맛있는데요?? 했습니다. 다른 곡 연주하시는 영상도 보고싶어지네요. 좋은 연주 감사해요

I've never played this piece this well

This more or less reinforces my belief that it's impossible to create one's ideal mood or color being able to feel it yourself in the moment. Music begins in the mind, the instrument is but one means to convey it to others. It's not always necessary for one to show it as clearly as this on the outside, but it's always ALWAYS better to feel it than not feel it. People often get so hung-up on moving towards or away from certain notes for 'proper phrasing' that they lose sight of the bigger picture - the intangibles that add color and character to a performance. That stuff tends to happen naturally when people focus on the meaning first. This is an awesome performance, and I wish the world were full of musicians like this.
