@@Mitsuraga Thank you! Definitely not trying to “compete” with them… they have an ad on the boards in Toronto 🤯 I’ve met and talked with both of them, super nice folks!
First, I want to say I love all your coverage of the league. I'm a lifelong Wings fan, but watching PWHL has gotten me even more into hockey so I love that there's a channel out here going in-depth on the league! I know the league is still figuring things out, but have you heard anything about how games will be broadcast? As a fan in Michigan, I really hope the games will still be on TH-cam! Can't wait to see our Michigan girls Keller and Girard tear it up with Boston again!
@@curseyoujordanshow She’s definitely working hard. Skating is one thing, though… coming back too early is sometimes the worst thing you can do and we don’t want to see her re-injure that knee. I’m still thinking conservatively… January?
@@gamedayhockey I'd be overjoyed with January. The language being used at the time suggested she might well still be on crutches in January, implying she'd miss the entire season outright; the fact she's not only able to walk but skate unassisted is hugely encouraging.
The only complaint I have going into this season is the mid-season break for worlds. Why is this a good idea? Can they not figure something out so these two things don't happen at the same time? Other sports do it. When we have the Olympics they are going to have 2 breaks?
I dread both the worlds and the US VS CAN competition. The latter has jumped the shark. These tournaments only serve to create injuries. The PROs ought to pass on these.
Although it probably shouldn't come as a surprise, pretty darn excited to hear the Sceptres Season Tickets have sold out already! Coca-Cola Colosseum should have quite the energy for Season 2!! Can't wait, but also encouraged to hear also how well received the new (larger) Home venues have been around the League... Montreal will be a tough game for opposing teams, as it seems to always Sell out (Especially now regularly at Place Bell). Also, Really crossing my fingers for the Sirens having a good fan turnout (now actually in the NY-Metro area)🤞 Definitely waiting w/ anticipation where the Neutral Site games will be this year (seeing as I'm in Mid-America (Kentucky) w/o a "home" team)... Curious though, in your opinion, which cities (2 or 4) whether Canadian or American, would be ideal markets for the PWHL's Future Expansion Plans???
It will be a while before that happens. But the key is that there has to be an existing girl’s and women’s hockey programs already in place. The PWHL’s raison d’être is to advance women’s hockey. So farm teams need to be established. It is not the NHL, where someone with deep pockets decides to buy a team. To be fair, interest has been greater in the Great White North. Quebec City would be a good choice. Chicago or Detroit stateside. I cannot see a western expansion for some time, because women just don’t have the luxury of free time to travel as much.
I'm ecstatic about them making Coca-Cola Colosseum their new home. I have to take the GO Train into Toronto, and with the Lakeshore West's stop at the Exhibition, the train practically pulls up to the front door.
@@stuartmehlberg808 I think Detroit would be a good guess, and I’m wondering about somewhere like Halifax or another Maritime city that would really support a team. Possibly Chicago or Buffalo for neutral-site games as well? Thanks for the comment!
@@leecox6241 I think expansion is about two-three years away. What do you mean “ don’t have time to travel?” I think western expansion is unlikely due to costs just yet, unfortunately Winnipeg is not large enough and I don’t see them stretching out to include Alberta yet.
Sara Fillier just signed with NY for one year. My expectation would be that she would play out that contract and sign elsewhere for season 3. If the hometown narrative continues, she might sign in Toronto since she is from there and already makes some money with team Canada. If she chases the money all bets would be off with the two expansion teams. For now NY is in a great spot, but they must be disapointend Fillier only signed for one year. Salaries in the PWHL are on the low-end, but the PA opted for player freedom of movement with the current CBA. Draftees can access free agency very early and choose where they want to play.
