This channel rose as a necessity to share elements from my vast musical library, mostly focused on music coming from 19th and 20th centuries, as well as explaining their musical and historical context in the annexed blog. The music here comes from Mexican and Latin-American, British, Japanese and Russian among countless other sources. New music every Friday unless otherwise indicated. Thanks for watching!

Scott was a great composer, and very underated indeed. He should have had more attention than he had in his time. Although one can hear inspiration from Debussy & Strauss, he is a very original composer and very different from other british composers. Now his time has finaly come. Great to see that his works are finaly being recorded & released. ❤
can never get tired of this work - written by a young composer - full of youthful energy & optimism - already showing his deep spiritual connection to nature in all its power & beauty

"The Emperor himself is the head of the Empire, combining in Himself the rights of sovereignty, and exercises them, according to the provisions of the present Constitution"
A chance tuning into the public radio station on a Colorado trip three years ago yielded this gem. I couldn't wait to hear it back-announced to discover the title and composer, and then hear it in its entirety when I got home.
A splendid performance of a tremendous work. Thanks so much for posting!
STOP. PUTTING. ADS. IN. CLASSICAL. MUSIC. For fuck's sake. Put them in videos for the ultra serialists, but not in sublime beauty, like this piece by Mr. Delius!!!
Lived in Florida as a student for 5years. This piece always reminded me of Florida: the landscape, the swamp, the mornings, the lively days, the sunsets…
Can you go back and edit the title with a parenthetical phrase about needing to hear this. This work is incredible. Both pretty and weird at the same time.
So good to hear female composers.

Awesome, brilliant.
Hola ¿En dónde puedo conseguir las partituras?
Molto cattivo gusto e pretorio.
Ein ganz selten aufgeführtes, großartiges Werk.
Bom, estou gostando muito de ouvir Elgar, isto me deixa muito feliz com a vida.
This piece and Prokifiev’s Cantata for the 20th Anniversary of the October Revolution are so terrifying to listen to, and give you a window into what the Russian people experienced during the first half of the 20th Century.
The finale movement to this symphony is magnificent. Once memorized, it really casts its spell upon the listener. Strong basey rhythms, beautiful not over done repetitions, and dramatic flair make this a finale truly worth many repeated listenings. All of his third is quite good also. The 2nd and 3rd symphonies really boast a bigger more grand Philip Glass.
This should be the theme music for the protest against the development of our state parks!!!!!
grandiose, moving, dynamically danceable, a real hit!
Knight of Cups got me here
Kalinnikov, Suk, and Franz Schmidt are my three favorite "unknown" composers. All three deserve more recognition.
Wonderful music! this channel is a true gem!
THANK YOU for posting all this (to me) unknown music. I always avoided Bush because I am a fierce opponent of Marxism although I admit I do enjoy his gigantic Piano Concerto but I have to pretend not hear any of the words when the male choir enters - text by Randall Swingler who also provided typically crass communist texts for Advance Democracy and Ballad Of Heroes by Benjamin Britten. This piece, however, is different and oddly appealing. I might buy the CD now especially as I find the Nottingham Symphony also very enjoyable.
This is a wonderful symphony. Outstanding if I may say so. A breath of fresh air. To me, this should be played on a regular basis in all the concert halls. I have loved this symphony from the day this recording came out and have never gotten tired of it. Thank you so much for haven uploaded this magnificent symphony for all to enjoy.
I have listed to this sickened out of this world symphony like zillions of time. IT IS UNBEATABLE.
The influence of Ravel is clear, but this was less than 20 years after Ravel composed his two piano concertos.
As a transplant to Florida and resident for the last 35 years, this piece somehow conveys the natural landscapes of Florida in a way impossible with just words. When you get out into what are considered the scary wilds of Florida, even with all the mosquitos, snakes and alligators, it really is spectacularly and uniquely beautiful. He probably never experienced one, but it would have been interesting to hear Delius' musical interpretation of a hurricane. It would have ruined the mood of this piece, but, having been through a few, I wish I could point those who ask me about what they are like to something akin to this, so they could get the "feel" of those storms.
This music is a heart-on-sleeve expression of pure joy. My wife and I had the incredible good fortune to hear a live performance of this, in Prague at the National Theatre, during a brief holiday weekend trip. It was the final piece in a program of all-Czech music and it remains one of the highlight musical experiences of our lives. From its deliberate, almost pensive beginning through progressive rising waves of sound, it ended in an enormous, victorious coda that practically blew out the back wall of the theatre. To put yourself in the right mood, it's worth keeping in mind that Martinu composed this just after the end of World War One and the founding of the new nation of Czechoslovakia.
NOW THIS IS WHAT UNDERRATED STANDS FOR
Ease of pastiche quotient seems a valuable guide in any artisitc medium
20:10-22:20 says it all- rises to the top !
14:30 sounds like the Angel Dance in The Nutcracker
3:31 3:39 4:22
I discovered him only recently through my classical music radio station, and I'm so glad I did .
Great music!❤🔥
Anybody know where one can find the words?
The choral harmonies owe a lot to VW's 'Dona Nobis Pacem' and 'Sancta Civitas' yet the orchestral harmonies are distinctly Britten. It has always seemed to me to be a 'truncated' work with not very good words [let's be honest] but Op.14 can be effective live. Here, unfortunately, Hickox seems to never quite get the gist and Martyn Hill makes vibrato into advanced wobble.
You may wish to look up Auden’s poem: “Spain” published 1937 in pamphlet form to raise money for the Spanish Red Cross (legal government side) Its the origin of the lyrics.
