MANIMAL CACTUS
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 16 ธ.ค. 2019
Hi, I'm Jorge Ramírez López AKA Manimal. I grow various fruit and vegetables, but I am truly obsessed with Cacti and Succulents, especially columnars. I'm Mexican-American, and Mexico has the greatest number and variety of species of cacti in the world. So, my love for cacti is in my blood! 😆
My favorite genera are Stenocereus, Pachycereus, Pilosocereus, Ferocactus, and Trichocereus. 🌵💚

Im just getting into grafting and I am using PC as my root stock and so far so good!
@@robertrosicrucion It's great and a fast grower, especially if fertilized! 👍🏼🌵
Ooh you have plumeria, too.
@D1wata Yes, I have a few. 👍🏼
Any chance I can buy a piece?
@hardshengpizi I don't have any for sale. I will in the future once it gets more pups.
Where did you get this?
@hardshengpizi Some guy in San Diego area. I got the only 2 that he had.
I want one!!!!
I can only Imagine the Age of That Monster! I can only hope to get Halfway to this Size One day.
Those really blue yuccas (?) are real pretty too 🌵🌿🪴
@@Ami-ut2us They are beautiful agaves to make Mezcal.
What a beauty! ❤🌵
Puro pito grande en Los Angeles
Those are some fatties
That was impressive. You’re right that first one is awesome
Excellent, It works!!! Thank you
Magnífico
Pentactus :) Btw good music taste
Hey bro, hit me up. Hope you still have my number. Remember, I took a pitayo a few years back over at Garvey Ranch. Jerry
I don't have your number. You got a pitayo from me, or did I get one from you?
I thought my stuff was crooked.
PC is also called Pachanot, though is a pachanoi but you know why.
@@liorsilverstein9802 Never heard it called that. I don't know why. Why?
@@manimalcactus cause it does not serve the purpose of a pachanoi, not enough amount of loids
Any chance at seeing more of those Pilosocereus f. that were damaged on the tips?
Thank you for the update!! I wasn't expecting such great growth and rooting. (I'm still a newbie lol) . When pups stall, will they ever start growing again?
@barbie_t It depends. Most of the time they'll start growing again. At times, new pups will emerge and and the stalled pups will one day start to grow again, but sometimes they won't grow.
Thank you
Great video 👍. I just recently got a big beefy queretaroensis cutting. Should I just pot it and keep it dry or maybe keep it indoors? What do you recommend?
@@buckshot9135 is it calloused over well? If so, yes, pot it up. Keep un greenhouse over winter s d rainy season.
@@manimalcactus yes,the cutting was drying for weeks and fully calloused. I'll pot it up today! Thank you 🙏
Theyre all cute and doingg their own thing
Blue is cool
Nice collection but its just unbearable watching you rip them out of their roots definitely damaging the new growth every time.
@LardoWizardo Cacti are resilient and will have much more room to grow more roots in the bigger pots.
Do all your Stenocereus Queretaroensis from your different sources taste the same, or do some stand out versus others?
@@RenSauceMan Some stand out for sure. 👍🏼
@@manimalcactus do you sell seeds of your best tasting ones?
What kind of cactuses produce arms ?
@idahabbershon9443 Arms is a term used for branches or stems in columnar cacti. New emerging "arms" are often called pups. Pups emerging from the base of the plant are referred to as basal pups.
I believe your thinking of the Saguaro cacti. Very slow growing, couple inches per decade.
Hi how much would you sell and ship your most delicate and best tasting varieties to other states or europe including S. Queretaro?
@tomreed-oe7hi Not selling cuts currently, and I can't ship to Europe. I've heard of some cuts getting to Europe from Mexico but the paperwork description indicating other contents were in the package.
Can we get an update please?
@barbie_t Will do. I'll make one tomorrow. 👍🏼👍🏼🙃🌵
@@manimalcactus awesome, thank you
What plant is that at 49 sec? That's a crazy specimen. Great job btw brother.
@henrisanchez2784 Which one? What color is it? What kind of pot is it in? You can screenshot it and circle it and send me a message on IGs. manimalpower or manimalcactus
Could you please tell me the exact name of this cactus plant?
@leemakrish7063 To the best of my knowledge and thst of some other collectors, this is a short-spined Cereus jamacaru.
Thank you for this! I hope to one day run my own shop and packaging has been on my mind! Love your collection!
@@corneliuswalrus Thank you.
Where are you growing these beauties?
@@bryanparr799 In LA County in Monterey Park, California.👍🏼
Very cool, thank you for taking the time to make this video. I see you.
Thank you. Your tip worked great!!! I used a bamboo stake because I didn't have a metal one.
most of the uprooted cacti I bought dies for no reason.
@jocelyndarum9398 If they are all dying, there's a reason. Don't water after you pot them for at least a week. Roots get damaged, and you can't have the soil drenched because it can cause rot. Don't put them directly in full sun if it's hot also. Put in a well draining substrate. Add extra pumice if needed. Try to avoid repotting in fall and winter.
So curious, did you get seeds?
🔥
Useing their own dong against them
Awesome man. Life is good! 😋
These cactus fruits look delicous im definatly gonna have to grow some soon.
I like your style dude!
That doesnt look quiet right
@@ImInsideASuperSenior What do you mean? They're successful grafts.
@@manimalcactus did it really Mix?
@ImInsideASuperSenior The Frankies Red? Only time will tell. If the stems grow bigger than the commonly thin Frankies Red, then that'll be a good sign. 👍🏼
New grower here wondering whats your favorite to start from seed?
@corneliuswalrus Favorite cactus? Any Pachycereus with big seeds. The seeds are big and seedlings start off really huge!
Would you consider selling some seeds?
@SaulSP23 You can have some. Write me on IG.
@@manimalcactus Awesome Thanks!!🙏🏽 , i just messaged you, It Means a Lot!!
How hard are the seeds in these fruits?
@@Room_for_1_more_fruit_tree Chewable. Like seseme seeds, I'd say. Unlike prickly pears fruit seeds.
Magnificent, very impressive 👏 👌 👍 hopefully in a couple of seasons, my harvest will be similar, lol.
Where are you located and how many types of pitayos you have and what colors. It’s nice that they are producing I got a few different pitayos producing but none of my pitayos de mao(griseus) are producing yet???
@albertogil9490 LA county. I have several species of Stenocereus and others.
Bro tell us what it tastes like 😅
@@Hoppy_for_life Hard to describe. Not overly sweet. Warermelon/berry-like. They taste better cold and when off older plants. I love them! I have a nostalgic connection since I'd eat them every year in Mexico when my parents would take us to Mexico.
Can I graft a small stenocereus pup on to pereskiopsis? Or are there better more reliable rootstock for that purpose you would recommend?
