    Thank you so much for showing us how to pollinate specially since this is my first time collecting pollen from Stenocereus! Love the lil vacuum 🤗

      A simple small brush is all you need. 👍🏼🙃

    Do you have a link to that little vacuum? I'm trying to collect from upward facing trichocereus flowers and all other methods have failed!

      I got it like 2-3 years ago in a black Friday sale. It's no longer available, but many similar.

      Tricho flowers are huge. I use metal bowls from my dollar store. I place them under flower and shake the flower. You can collect a ton of pollen this way also. 👍🏼🌵

      @@manimalcactus the issue I'm having is the flowers are facing up and any attempt to extract pollen leads to it falling down the throat of the flower. I extract and pollinate the same flower so I can't remove it. The plants are potted but are too large to lean. I think your vacuum technique is going to do the trick!

      @@didgemonster The vacuum is definitely handy. The amount of pollen it collects is INSANE!!

    Hi, do you know the main difference between martinezii and turberi stenocerus? Thank you

    • @manimalcactus
      @manimalcactus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, they look very different. Martinezii has thick dark spines, less ribs that are more spread out and a smaller fruit and found only in Sinaloa, Mexico. It branches usually higher up. As small seedlings they look a lot like thurberi, but much different as they age.
      Thurberi has more ribs, thinner spines and more of them, more ribs, a bigger fruit up to tennis ball size. It grows different, too. It tends to more often make new branches emerge from the bottom base. And it is found throughout the Sonoran desert all the way to Sinaloa.

I will look for the correct way to import cactus into USA legally for personal collection, thanks again.
