The tide will come in
It looks ok, but the Starlight 1 is waaay more robust in storms. I know this as I have one for storm camping. It’s never leaked…ever! All the best👍🏾🇬🇧
Looks flappy
Beautiful dartmoor 👍🌷🌹💕
Great vid, I think Hilda sounds right for your tent, robust serving wench at an Oktoberfest type of lady. I've just bought myself a similar tent, the Robens Sprinter 2, it's supposed to be able to stand up to pretty much anything the UK could throw at it. I think it's going to be the only tent I need. I have a trekking pole tent and a Cloud Peak 2 but I think a good quality robust 2 person tunnel tent is the best of both worlds to me. One day I'll retire down Dartmoor way so I'm off to watch some more of your vids. Cheers and just do what's right for you re TH-cam
@camping_guru_uk I know someone who has that tent I think @lntkernow and he is pleased with it. I've had 2 robens tents and are cracking tents. Thanks for the kind words and love the name 😆
Just started to watch the vid, looks good. Oh, you know the learning to map reading thing, well I've heard there's a little video platform thingy called TH-cam where you might find someone to teach you 😅 😂. Now to watch the rest of it. "Liked and subscribed already"
@camping_guru_uk ohhh that sounds like a hint lol . Hope you enjoy and I will be sure to check you out and follow you back a little later . 😀
Army rations , compo , I remember from my cadet days , in the 70's , issued with 1950's surplus. Mostly edible fair , especially the condensed milk tubes , but Mock Turtle soup was not worth opening ; now what the heck was Mock Turtle anyway and why did the Mod think your average soldier think Turtle was so high cuisine fair in the first place ! Nice tent , since I had a brand new Black's tent destroyed on its first use in 50 mph , at least , on Dartmoor , I really approve having a four season tent there !
@davidyendoll5903 thankyou for the nice comments. Iam off to see what mock turtle is 😄
1) You cant build this tent if you dont have solid ground like here. If you dont use pins, you are *ucked. 2) You cant make a good tension so if there is a wind, its *ucking noisy. I wanted to burn it and jump off the cliff when building it on top of Piton Des Naiges. If you like noise, stupid long setup and a chance, you will not be able to build it at all, this one is for you.
Im ready to pull the trigger on buying this tent but i really want to be able to buy the additional pole for double poling sometimes but everywhere is out of stock of the accessory. Im holding out to see if they come back in stock anywhere.
@guy35451 go for it mate ... make the leap ✨️ 😉
@@marcjeffreypresentsTrigger pulled 👍 ..Will be perfect for my needs.
@guy35451 ah mate that's awesome news. Let me know how you get on and any issues give me a shout and if I can help I'd be pleased to help
Might be glamping but it's definitely wild... btw they can keep the lions and Hyenas out but leopards are bound by nothing!! Love me a scenic poo.
@BlazeEigs 💯 mate it was the spiders I was worried about but didn't see any
Miss my land... 😢
Thanks for sharing Marc!! Looks like a spot that's right up your alley..a little bit of roughing it mixed with some modern amenities. ✌🏿💪🏿
@abrothaofacertainage4285 thanks for watch Rodney it was totally epic experience 😎
Great video sir.
@howardsblend thankyou mate hope your enjoying your holiday
great vid mate, looks like you had an amazing time, the boys will remember that holiday for the rest of their lives! looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing your pics on next camp mate, good to have you back brother

may i ask if you noticed any needle holes along the seams on your tent when it s pitched ?and if it s normal at all? bcs fabric is very thin..
@vvs3796 no mate I can't say I noticed this at all if your concerned at all try going over the seams with some seam seal just to be sure
@@marcjeffreypresentsu may want to have a better look, during the day light, whilst u r in a tent ,and when tent is under tension. Leak is not my concern. Concern is that these things fabric will start fraying and holes get bigger .
@vvs3796 I will take alook next time iam out. I haven't heard of this issue from anyone but that's not to say it wouldn't happen. Fingers crossed yours is OK if not give fjallraven a call iam sure they will be able to give you some sound advice my friend
Your in the wrong woods for the tunnel! Did you ever do the hammock camp in the woods I’d be keen to join you if you still wanted to brilliant video nice to see something local
@Tamarvalleyexplorer nah mate never did and tbh don't think it's really my cup of tea. I enjoy being in a tent I think lol
@@marcjeffreypresents I’ve got a hammock but I haven’t used it yet but I’m pretty happy with my tarp and bivvi bag setup and I also need to actually do some filming just havnt got the confidence 🙄
@@Tamarvalleyexplorer go for it mate its all about starting. Confidence will grow I promise
I m using same tent and backpack.. Thinking of adding a few loops for extra pegs on the fly sheet to make side panels flap less in strong winds.
@vvs3796 yes I get ya... it does look abit flappy at times. And I was wondering if if I'd set it up wrong at first . Could do with extra but I look at it this way. When the tent was designed they tried many things out before the final design. Messing about adding stuff could this mess the design up and put stress in parts that shouldn't be. I've seen so many people mess with tents thinking they are fixing a problem and then a pole snaps
Hmm, interesting.. But I still think bungee cords will work without adding too much additional tension. Only it would mean this tent needs too many stakes..@@marcjeffreypresents
Great videos bud. Hopefully ill get around to giving the walk ago at some point.
@@JesseFone go for it. It was a nice thruhike tbh
Fantastic video, well done 👍 what an adventure…
@@fog360 thankyou mate glad you enjoyed
I swear by electrolytes. Not exactly the same as a berocca. To absord water you need salt. So if walking in hot weather you will sweat out salt and then dehydrate faster. Electrolytes help prevent that.
@captainplanet1576 yeh boi this walk was so much more easier with those little fellas 😆
That was brilliant, loved seeing it from your perspective and nice to relive it. Great video buddy 🙌🏻❤️
Cheers I finally got it to work lol
Just started watching, been waiting for this ❤ had a brilliant time meht, thanks for talking me into it, where we off to next? 😂 love you bro 🙌🏻
🎉 Love watching!!
We were hiking in Snowdonia recently, following Hiiker App and got into a whole world of crap! I complained and got a full refund of the annual fee.
Nice video! I have the same one but the UN blue color. Splendid tent.
Oh I do like that colour but this offer came that I couldn't turn down so I suppose it was ment to be
Nice vid mate, that Robens tent has a similar look to my Scarp 1, seems to have plenty of porch space too. The s2s quilt looks nice and small when packed up, I'm currently using the s2s spark 2 sleeping bag, which packs to a similar size. Good idea to test your gear out first 👌 especially with a good selection of beers 😊😊 atb Paul 🙏 🏕🏕🏕😁
I've spent a few weeks in this tent and I really like it! It's a bit "advanced" to work with but once you get to know it it's very quick to put up..
Yes I totally agree. You see all these pin out points and think they all need to be pegged but as you've used it a few times you realise that you don't. The pin out points are for all the different configuration. It's actually a really good tent
Just bought one new, can't wait to receive it. I may seam seal it. I hear the fabric has 160kg breaking point so guessing the flapping isn't an issue. Bushman and Blue use theirs in storms.
Let me know how you get on... I haven't seam sealed mine and apparently I've seen them being used in some pretty narly conditions
@@marcjeffreypresents Forgot to reply, sorry! 4 mountain top wild camps later and the Abisko Lite 1 it is performing well. My only gripe really is condensation, however I think any small tent has that issue. Other than that, it has been robust. Haven't yet used it in very strong winds or sustained rain. I did seam seal it after watching one or two videos recommending it (it came with seam sealant anyway). Duly subscribed Sir.
@hedleythorne sorry for late reply. Currently at South africa airport with very little WiFi. Thanks for the comment and sub
A very enjoyable watch Jeffreys! I’m going to share this with my best mate in WA USA, I know he’ll appreciate this uh, unique (?😂) look at Dartmoor Keep it up mate I’m excited for P2 💚

I would be 110% into the Dartmoor stag doo me ansome 💚
Lol don't get carried away just yet lol
Great video, mate. Can't beat a bit of banter. 👌 I'm looking at getting the same tent, so I came across your video. I've had the Terra Nova Laser Compact 2 All Season and the Fjällräven Abisko Lite as well, but I sold them a while back. This looks like a good tent for the money. How are you finding it?
Yes mate glad you found me. Its a good tent on first impressions mate . I mean it's no hilleberg or fjallraven but it's still a budget tent really . BUT all in all its not a bad, lightweight tent
@marcjeffreypresents Thanks for the reply. That's good then. Not sure I'll miss the 4 season though 😕 as I do alot of summit camps. I'll have a think lol
@excaliber32 its deffo a tent iam happy to use in the summer but on top of a Tor on dartmoor in the winter.... um think I will use my 4 season options lol
Great vid as always mate, tent looks a belter! Vicki was telling me about the engine house the other day, might have to go up soon! Thinking I might get out and do the saints way in the next couple weeks, when’s your week off?
Surprised to be the first to comment, thanks for covering this, I have both a Rab Alpine microlight down jacket and Rab summit 600 sleeping bag, both which need washing in the next few months. I will use the Nik Wax kit for mine, I won't bother sending mine in to Rab, that's just profiteering IMHO. In terms of the Rab jacket, its pretty good, but not worth £200, I doubt your Decathlon jacket is significantly worse to be honest, Rab gear is overpriced and Decathlon do make some very competitive stuff. When I need a warmer down jacket I'll be going down (pun intended) the Decathlon route so don't feel you're missing out on much, some budget gear is excellent.
Thanks for being my first on this Topic lol. I just wanted to put an experiment out there. Like I said a £60 jacket is alot different to a £200 jacket and it's down you you if your prepared to take the risk BUT I just wanted to put something out there saying you can wash down and I hope this video helped
Nice looking tent mate, great video, may have to look in to quilts for the summer😊
Never thought I'd suit a quilt but love them for summer mate
Woohoo! Love this 😀 🏕
Thankyou young lady
I’ve just bought one of these tents My little lad is 7 and watched the solo camps wanted to camp in garden first and hopefully then we can do some wood somewhere local
It's a great tent for what it is. Hooe you have as much fun in it as I've had in mine
Nice tent ill look into it im out soon on dartmoor as its on my doorstep 😀🤟🤟
If you see Me out and about be sure to say hi 👋
@@marcjeffreypresents will do
Great little vid mate great to see the tent getting used
@davemassingham2096 top man it will get used loads
Flextail got same pillow no failures and cheaper from me 🤙
Excellent tent, I have the footprint, summer mesh inner and extra pole set and used it in all conditions and never had any issues with it. Sets up in 5-10 minutes max, and the trickiest part is switching the inners around... but that's what a garden is for.
Love this mate. I was abit concerned as thought the tent looked a little flappy but can't get it any better and just came to the conclusion it must be like that due to the thin material 😉
@@marcjeffreypresents I always try to get the vestibule end direct into wind and make full use of the vestibule protection. I'm not bothered about views and I'd rather have the security. The cross wind performance is probably the only issue I have if it changes during the night, hence why I (eventually) got the extra pole set..
@@malesu1068 so you put it sideways onto the wind ?
@@marcjeffreypresents soz, last statement didn't come out as I meant it. I put it end on into the wind,
@malesu1068 yeh mate snap that's what I thought you meant lol 😆
Have had my abisco for nearly a year now.. it's a great tent. Have deliberately taken it out in storms and blizzards and it more than coped... I noticed you got the footprint.. I wish I had ...
Yes it came with the tent . Like I said I had a total bargin but very pleased from first came
@@marcjeffreypresentsI have the footprint but I really want to leave it behind for weight savings..but.. Tents is expensive .. However add a footprint and if tent is wet, then it s already over 2kg.. and for this weight there is many cheaper good alternatives..
@vvs3796 hmmm I guess .... like what, what do you suggest and I will go buy lol
@@marcjeffreypresents I don't know of any other tents that's a 4 season, with the capabilities and quality that this tent has , that is "much cheaper" !!.. but am always ready to learn..
@littlegrandadoutdoors well if you find one let me know 😝
Great stuff! enjoy the new tent - looking at getting one myself, not cheap but looking for a keeper. atb...Sinco
Keep on looking and researching and go for the tent that suits you not cos everyone else has it. Also don't be frightend to buy secondhand. There are some absolute bargains out there..... like this one lol
