That reminds me to ask, have you been involved with alien swarm at all? Nowadays it feels they pretend it didn’t even exist
I have no idea what alien steam is.
@chetfaliszek Alien Swarm* typo sorry Was very happy with the release, fun little game and kickstarted by programming career
Last night was fun, the variety in mvm was amazing.
Yeah the two maps we played were wildly different
Awesome to see you still playing TF2! The day it shuts down will be the day I would be bawling my eyes out about a game for the first time.
Happy zombie Thanksgiving 🦃 🧟♂️
I have no idea what specifically this is talking about, and it sounds like very specific criticism maybe only he would understand. IDK, Tim seems like a reasonable guy that would probably listen. I'd try to set up a meeting to talk with him. He's always been a more technical guy and probably wouldn't mind having lunch or something.
Can you talk about deadbolt?
Getting called "an elite" by a literal billionaire is crazy work, lol.
12:08 Get down mr. president
and now I understand the character of Doug Rattmann
Dang, I could never bring myself to get a checkmark or go on twitter at all, that must be an awful situation. I know like, all valve people had to put that notice up on their steam profiles, I guess putting explosive warnings in chat window is too coddling.
I still play it from time to time with my friends when we trow a lan party. I wish valve added workshop support for maps(community fixes would be great too), vscript and some extra fixes, the 20 years update was very minor.
You just ruined Timmy's Christmas
Can someone pls explain what 'lead' means in this context?
I honestly don't blame you for not expecting HL2: Deathmatch to have been updated and messed up the server. Literally the LAST game I would have expected to been updated lol
are you okay
IDK too obscure for me to understand. I can't tell if he's super smart or the opposite.
funny you mention not being able to disable reviews / forums on steam, because as much as they can give precious information about a game, they're also used as a vector for harassment these days. i suppose epic don't wanna deal with moderation at all?
No moderation + AAAs get to control the narrative = happy AAA happy Epic (ignore the customers... "they don't win stores" - Tim Sweeney on Epic Games Store, 2019)
idk but i have my doubts that Tim will understand the "human" stuff.
Reminds me of my childhood
they're trying to hide the fact nobody is using it.
The way you describe the Epic Games Store sounds a lot like the Dahir Insaat drive-through grocery store concept video.
ITS A FREE HOUSE TIM! it's free real estate
Why should they bother putting any human element into the storefront app if the majority of people are actively telling epic that they'll never use it because it already exist on steam and is better and that they'll never use the program anyway and that its actually verifiably true for some ungodly reason? No customer reviews is actually wild though. I swear I thought they did add them like a year or so ago
you can't even have a wishlist on FAB...
All my stuff wishlisted in the old system... i cry...
@@chetfaliszek and now Steam is delisting wishlist items for all kinds of people. What up with that?
dude you look like you have cirrhosis
a real human bean
yooman
I showed Tim this and he said you were “elite” what ever that means. I don’t think he’s gonna listen :/
If Tim is reading... Bring back Unreal Tournament. It was the showcase for the Unreal engine. Now it's Fortnite but whatever it's money. I agree on the Unreal marketplace/hub. Why make devs lives harder? It keeps them from your store Tim... except the studios that want to bother.
I still remember when they pulled the devs working on UT to work on the suddenly popular Battle Royal mode of Fornite.
Funny because I use Unreal Engine because it has actually great usability and is well designed.
The engine itself - 100%!
wait there humans in the world geesh and i though we were making gmaes for fun and giggles lol
Fabs is a step backwards
one billion dollars
W take
simply fully agree
I like the way you say humans
Fab is such ass. Epic marketplace was not great but at least you could use it with a bit of google. Stripping out so much functionality is just like... Why..
YUMINS
I've said it for years epic/Tim don't give a monkeys about real people they just care about making money and screw everything else. They used to care tho that's the worst thing, coz they wouldn't of got where they were not if they did care in the beginning.
Yeah, one of the things that sucks about Epic is that it's actively hostile to both users wanting to get information and users who want to leave feedback. Like every now and then Epic might do a pop-up asking me about a game I just played, and it's just a yes/no question. And the interface sucks. It just makes me want to wait for the game to release on Steam (although Steam is far from perfect especially today but it's the best launcher software). Steam reviews for example ought to be more than just a basic yes/no. And joke/meme reviews suck, and of course those are the ones that get sent to the top. But at least I can leave a review!
the cat in the background: 🧿w🧿
I'm glad other people in the industry also feel put off by Epic trying to take buying and playing games the same route as a lot of other tech. There's nothing wrong with progress, but Tim's obsession with The Metaverse has ironically led to his platforms feeling completely sterile and antisocial. EGS sucks to navigate, the amount of useful information on there is minimal, and it is full of Crypto games which currently have absolutely no appeal to anyone who isn't looking to gamble on a get rich quick scheme. Also every time I see Tim's Twitter it is because he posted something completely inane and out of touch.
RIP sketchfab
Let's be frank, though... Epic Store's users base is fake as hell... I mean, like you said, nobody buys games on the Epic Store... I have 184 games on the Epic Store, and I've bought one... I've accumulated all the others week after week because they were free, and I must have played 20 games in years... Most of the time, if I want to play something, I just open Steam (where I've bought like 260 out of 276). There is nothing appealing about the Epic Store, and even giving games away for free is not enough for me to really consider it seriously. I think a lot of people are like me.
I'm like you except I've never bought a single game and am sitting at like 300? I don't even play them on epic or intend to, I just know it costs Tim money and think that's funny.
That doesn't actually matter. The Epic Games Store makes money for Epic by being a funnel into Epic's games and removing the transaction fees which would be applied by Steam and other games.
I have a Docker container running that pings me every time it detects a new free game I don't have and sends me a link to redeem it. Lol.
@@ImaginaryComponent really? Because *by Epic's own words,* EGS has been losing money since 2019. It's gotten so bad that they're pushing the expected profit year to 2027.
Thanks for sharing, absolutely loved listening to this.
Woof, I haven't looked at fab since they changed my install to EGS and made it kind of a pain to work on the engine stuff.
I got a Fortnite ad after watching this, now that means Tim is watching!
I've seen Tim rail against people who shamed people who paid for blue checks, so I think there might have been a miscommunication somewhere on that "elite" point.
No... no. no there was not.
lol after your post on BlueSky I had a feeling there'd be a video about this. Sounds like such a pain, I'm glad I don't use Unreal for reasons like this. Epic is not a company I would want to be at the whims of for any reason.
Unreal Engine and the developer ecosystem is actually great. Unfortunately almost everything else they do is questionable.
Exactly - the actual unreal engine 5 is amazing.
So many online marketplaces in general seem to be hiding reviews, making filtering impossible, just generally getting way harder to use for actual humans trying to be informed
I have weird theory, that Valve love orange & blue colors. Here the proofs, i've noticed in Valve games: Number One: Half-Life 1 (1998). In lambda core area, there's two separate corridors, guess what colors of walls in these corridors? that's right! orange left corridor & blue right corridor. Number Two: Half-Life 2 (2004). The Gravity Gun, most of the game, since you receive this weapon, you had Orange colored Gravity Gun, but after the Citadel removed your equipment, but charge the Gravity Gun into Super Gravity Gun, which is Blue colored Gravity Gun. Number Three: ??? Number Four: Portal (2007) The Portal gun has Orange & Blue Portals. Well, that's it, folks. P.S. Please, Excuse Me for My Bad Knowledge of English Language. 😊 Valve, I love your games. Thanks to everyone who reading this. I love you too. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm glad they've backpedaled a bit regarding the Quixel stuff. The Megascans search had all these granular filters for biomes, colors, sizes, categories, etc for all the props and FAB threw all that out. Made it impossible to find any exact assets like with the old system. Not to mention the seamless integration it had for not just UE, but also Maya, Blender, Unity and other stuff. As nice as the idea is to unify it all, it totally falls apart when considering each segment of FAB had an interace and integration perfectly designed for its specific use-cases. FAB will likely never be as good as Megascans for sorting and importing Megascans assets, it will probably never be as good as Sketchfab at presenting and viewing and sharing those model viewer assets and even the Marketplace stuff is just not as good as before. Not just because it would take years to reimplement all these features to the same level and functionality, but also because by design a lot of those things probably are not going to be viable in a one-size-fits-all solution.
Yep. 100%. All of these things are not the same…
THEY REMOVED THAT??? wut da hell… that’s part of the product
They didn't think those features were important just as their Store Launcher had not even reach half the feature parity of Steam after all these years.
