Is CONNECTICUT Overrated?
Connecticut sure has a polarized reputation, but we'll try to go over the pros and cons in a fair manner.

How to Fix BUFFALO's Reputation and Make it an Awesome City
มุมมอง 922ปีที่แล้ว
Buffalo gets no respect, and most people in New York and the northeast insult it endlessly. But is it really that bad? This city is definitely underrated, but it still can be improved. Here are my opinions and commentary of how this city can be better to visit and maybe even live in. I'd love to hear your opinions in the comments!

Bro got some BALLS with that opening, however you still have that ‘horrible’ retro background keyboard music that grates on my soul. 😞
Connecticut has quite a variety of areas. We lived in Stamford, CT for a while, which is NYC area, and the beaches, such as Sherwood Island been to many times, being from Westchester County, NY. My Father years ago after retiring years ago, commuted from White Plains, NY to work for about 6 years at a Locksmith store in Stamford. I had a friend up in Amenia, NY, so we often went to NW CT, such as Sharon, CT, where his closest medical facilities were. Yes, we had a friend who had a family place on Candlewood Lake. A cousin lives in New Canaan. The bigger cities are not great. New Yale, in New Haven, hasn't a great reputation, as is so with Bridgeport, Hartford, and Waterbury too. Been through there for many years on the highways, and years ago Mohegan Sun Casino, and even Foxwoods years ago, which I remember first had Bingo back around 30 years ago, when it started. I was in the USAF at Pease, AFB, Portsmouth, NH over 50 years ago, and just moved from Nashua, NH to Peekskill, NY back what we call home in a nice apt building on Fort Hill here, overlooking the Hudson, River near Route 9 and friends from our amateur radio club again. 😊
lol i live in bristol and we are getting a bit of a down town now
Norwalk, like many harbor-based industrial cities in New England waterfront cities was mostly industrial along the harbor until the last half of the 20th century. Norwalk is also known for its oyster fleet which is still in operation at Tallmadge Brothers and Copps Island/Bloom Brothers. Veterans Park on the east side of the harbor was once the town dump now a park with a marina and boat launching ramps. Further up the river on the west side of the harbor was a dumping ground for incinerated trash from the public works garbage incinerator, later turned in Oyster Shell Park. Recently a wealthy benefactor bout more than 100 acres where the Manresa Power Generation Plant stands idled years ago at the west entrance to the inner Norwalk harbor, to be converted as a non-profit for public use. These are the reasons why there isn't much harborside residential development.
Fun fact..... New York contains no National Parks. There are National Monuments.....but not Federal own parks. Love Watkins Glenn Letchworth Niagara Falls Forgot all of the Adirondacks
Painted Post represent! I don't know how anyone in their right mind could overlook Painted Post.

New Hampshire is the home of Dartmouth, i went to Yale.
The borough of Forksville, the borough of Eagles Mere, The borough of Dushore. All are remote and peaceful.
New Haven definitely has the best Popeyes and a few other Soul food joints
Visiting the missions on Christmas Day is special! The Rose Window at the San Jose Mission is a special architectural feature. The missions are the first and only World Heritage Site in Texas. I enjoy your videos.
Saranac Lake is a must! it’s right next to Lake Placid, Maybe 15 minutes apart from each other
When did you do this???!!!! Nashua has an amazing downtown loaded with restaurants and brewery. The Nashua River has a project going called the River Walk which connects with Mine Falls trails for hiking and biking and it goes all the way to Ayer MA. We also have a brand new multi story entertainment center right on Main St. we have been voted for safest city in the country. Your voting is all wrong
Nothing run down in Middletown. You should use as part of your data.... Can you walk the main street at night?
OMG what planet are you from? Not sure where you got your data but it's way off.
None of these town are small !
I went to Letchworth for a school trip in 1985 when I lived in PA. Its beautiful. I now live in Ohio and planning a trip to Niagara Fall and Letchworth.
Rhinebeck, Essex, Saratoga Springs, Westport, Chatham, Old Chatham, Bolton Landing, Ticonderoga...
I grew up in the area (can tell you didn’t…), and my family had a cottage on Conesus. Conesus is one of the top 2-3 when it comes to fishing, nicest to own on is Keuka, Ithaca is the best of the lake towns (by far) in terms of restaurants, waterfalls and things to do. I never had much use for Seneca or Canandaigua, just blah. Skaneateles is a really nice lake, clear water for swimming (even scuba) good size and close to plenty of activities. Hemlock and Canadice are wonderful for those seeking quiet and great fishing. So my personal top 5 are Keuka, Skaneateles, Conesus, Cayuga and Hemlock, in that order.
Summer time in Erie is so fun at the Presque Isle! Winters not so much if you don't like snow.
West Haven is the birthplace of Farva from Super Troopers.
I'll stick with Smithfield Borough in Southwestern Fayette County
I’m so impressed - you actually did your research. So much better than the usual BS you see in supposedly “comparable” work on TH-cam. Keep up the excellent work.
I'm always interested in learning about New York state villages. Most folks think that New York City is just it. However, there's a lot to see and experience. It's truly amazing. Thanks for sharing this video 📸
Chambersburg should be listed, a civil war town!
You wanted comments on Torrington, Ct. and I am very happy to provide a few. Torrington has indeed been ravaged by the many closings of factories. This is 2024 and the most recent example has been the literal tearing down of a major section of the Torrington Company factory site. There had been a factory on the corner of Midgeon and Rt 4, but it is gated closed. Duc Duc had been there at one time. That area is empty save for the New Brunswick Flea Market. The factory complex however, is VERY attractive and I do wish they could make it an apartment block as it would look VERY much like a neighborhood in London England. It is all 19th Century construction and is really actually TOTALLY charming. The Tower in Town Center was housing for the elderly built in the late 1980's I want to say,.. but that is a place now that if I loved my grandmother I would NOT allow her to live there as it has been opened up to low income people, and all what that brings with it. The Plaza next door once held Stop & Shop Supermarket but that closed this Fall of 2024 due to low performance ( 'they' say ). I think too many unemployed people took it to be the 'Happen'in Place' and drove customers off. This closing isn't helpful as there are so many people who live there and WORK there, who don't drive. Now they have to figure out a way to get shopping done as they can no longer walk to a place that is close, and others need to find work somewhere. There are several run-down sections but the cost of tearing them down is prohibitive. Some sections are finally being demolished which is visually helpful. Torrington does still remain for the most part a comfortable and attractive city. Personally, I love it here. I've lived here for 35-years. The Hotchkiss-Fyler House on Main St. is part of the Historical Society. Beautiful home with tours. There are many beautiful homes on the historical registry and the whole city for the most part does still follow the style of the 19th Century, even when rebuilding is needed. We are in the N.W. part of Conn. and if one enjoys fishing, hiking and camping COME HERE!!!!! HOLY COW!!!! Many lakes, rivers and falls. Camping and hiking GALORE!!! We also have many, MANY farms with acres of pastures. You made a comment about the disjointed appearance of the town center. You have to remember that the Naugatuck river flows through the center of town. There is a major bridge there. There also had once been a huge home and land where someone of prominence lived in the 1800's. That house is no longer there but they made Coe Park town center green in its place. Towns can't simply cut down, dig up and plow away certain physical features but instead must incorporate all to the best degree possible. This town wasn't PLANNED to look the way it does, it just simply IS. And you may not realize this but the 1955 flood TOTALLY destroyed sections of Torrington, AND Winsted. I listened to what you said about Winsted ~ which actually is a lovely city. Northwestern Conn. Community College is there in the center of town. .. The flood of 1955 took out half the town. That main road through center town, once had businesses on BOTH sides of the highway... Also, regarding Winsted, Highland lake is up behind at a higher elevation I believe... close but somehow hidden in back of the town... Winsted is a lovely place to live as well. I love living here in Connecticut's N.W. Corner. Luv-luv-LOVE it. Don't you never speak bad about Torrington again, ya HEAH!!! ????
Mispronounced Kittaning
Thanks for making this video! I have done the D&L and Gap/C&O. You definitely have the #1 correct! Must-see highlights along the trail include: Great Falls MD, Salisbury Viaduct, Big Savage Tunnel, Ohiopyle Falls, Harper's Ferry.
As a life long CT resident, I'd say this is a pretty good overview.. Groton has perhaps one of the best municipal golf courses in the country--Shennecossett golf course. Hartford's Keney Park golf course is also a nationally ranked muni. The best pizza I've ever had is Frank Pepe's white clam pizza, in Wooster Square. Whie there are a few rough spots, New Haven is one of the most varied and interesting small cities I've ever visited. Really a great vibe..
I have a place in Geneva and I want to thank you for this video. As a transplant from NYC I will definitely recommend people watch this to get a feel of all the lakes. Thanks again!!!
Bedford
NH, New London and Hartford are crime-ridden and impoverished. Stamford and Norwalk feel like a safe #1 and #2
I've lived in New London for 11 years. I have yet to see a single robbery or crime being committed, although I am sure they happen. It has been very safe as far as I am concerned, and I live next to a park where robberies would probably happen if it were 'crime ridden'. All the people going by my house from the park have been pleasant and polite; even the school kids. Pizza isn't everything (New Haven) If I want to drive to New Haven to get some pizza I can, but I'd rather live in New London; we have pretty good pizza as well. There is also a lot to do in southeastern CT; all within 15- 20 minutes in any direction
Jim Thorpe is a great place to visit but I sometimes wonder how the people live there it seemed to be totally around tourists and there's nobody but skiers during the winter time plus there's a lot of buildings in a tight little Valley between the mountains and the river with very little places to park
Gloucester is worth the trip.
I've lived in NH for 40 years and I'd like to say there is maybe one area that classifies as a modern city and that's Manchester. Other than that, the rest are at best towns. Berlin......hahahaha......have you ever been there?
I live in Columbia and I love it. Mansfield is also very beautiful.
Missed Beaver County also .
I think Bellefonte is just pronounced Bell-Font, as someone who has gone there a few times before
Owego? Looks like a dump. Ballston Spa is a toilet bowl thats full of heroin addicts and sucks off the city of Saratoga. I cant believe the Village of Lake George doesnt get a peep out of you. If you are not familiar with the village i suggest you read up on it, look at the way the lake cuts through the Adirondacks. Tons of activities, commercial boats on the lake, a bussling strip, tons of resorts up and down the lake. Cool rental cabins, horse back riding, beaches, its all rustic and a throwback to a former time.
I farted in Torrington once in 1994 and it’s lingered ever since. Real story.
I recently moved from New Jersey to Mayfield, Pennsylvania and though it seems ok, definitely affordable for a divorced 54 year old woman, I don’t know much about it. Got any tidbits on it?
Valley Stream New York state parks
Media is a better option than West Chester in my opinion.
Great historical video but you got to remove the godawful music.
You mentioned the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, but it is part of the larger Ohio to Erie Trail, which is really a series of trails between Cincinnati (Ohio River) and Cleveland (Lake Erie). There are a few miles on the road in Amish country (with almost no traffic) but other than that, there are many lovely trails on this great route. It also goes through several small towns as well as the larger cities of Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, and Cleveland.
I agree with the list, although I take a fisherman's perspective. The only thing that I strongly disagree with is your list that includes all 18 lakes. Waneta and Lamoka would easily be #1 and #2 for me! I could put you on a 5+lb largemouth and a 20+lb muskie tomorrow if you gave me a day on Waneta!
Kitanning. KA*Tan*Ing. Mt. Carmel : Mount CarMel No emphasis on "Mel". BELL Fonte is the correct prounciation.
Skip both. Hit up Bethany, Dewy or Rehoboth Beach.
Have enjoyed riding a few on this list! We love the Genesee Riverway Trail in Rochester NY 😊
Maybe next time ask a few locals. You missed a walk outside the downtowns that make all these cities much better than your ratings. Also what happens in these cities; weekly concerts, ice arenas, pickleball courts, bike trails, hiking trails, waterway access, etc.
