Chrysler hasn't made those 'Indy' distributors since the early '00's (2003 I think). Best thing is to just use NOS factory or remanufactured factory parts. That's an easy kit to put together. You could just clip a harness from a junkyard car and it would be better. Direct Connection used to sell just the harness. The other parts are off the shelf. One other 'small' problem I had with my 'kit' was the pickup in the dist had a small break in the winding so when it got hot it would cut out. I had to buy an OE Chrysler pickup and it was OK after that. That whole kit is sketchy.

I agree. Those Proform kits are TRASH. I had one and the ECU failed within months, the wiring harness was all thin gauge wire, and the distributor advance was the reconverted GM Delco style so there was a bunch of spark scatter. The worst part is I periodically would always have hard start conditions randomly. A couple times the ignition cut out on the highway and blew up my mufflers. I traced the cause to the large rubber connector plug on the ECU. The pins on the ECU were too small to fit snuggly and make a good contact in the rubber plug. Or rather the rubber plug receptacles were too big. The 'original' factory built kits were fine. These aftermarket ones are horrible. The most reliable ignition I ever had was a set of points. I would use an original Pertronix or some SCR box which offloads the current from the points and just uses the points as a trigger. If you keep the points as a triggering mechanism, if the 'box' or something else fails you can just switch over to points to get home. I recently got stranded because of the 'Proform'. It's not fun!

Restoration use to be fun and what only a certain amount of people did, whole industry went full tilt stupid. 😁 Been to Carlisle all truck nationals and the gathering of parts is amazing if you were looking for the needle in a Haystack. I will have to check out National Trails next year for something to do since I got rid of all my toys and old parts. Nice video!

Glad yer back! Definitely looks like a good start. Got me a 63 Belvedere hood, and a Valiant hood with a six pack scoop coming from Sled City!!! Already have one of his fiberglass front bumpers for the 63.

Nothing really wrong with the distributor, says right in the instructions to check the gap just in case. I had the same problem with a MSD distributor. And I think there made in china too.😢

I have an unrelated question about my 74 roadrunner. Can anyone tell me why the speaker holes in the back window of said roadrunner are different sizes? I'm not saying that they have been cut out, these look like factory holes but they're two different sizes.

I had a 383 Formula S Barracuda same color. To me it was ripper but even after the 440 swap with a Clay Smith 585 cam it didn't sound that cool. Best of luck with with that swoopy little fish.

Assuming it's the original front bumper, it's a 73 or 74. Those extra big bumperguards were to meet new EPA safety regulations in 73. The last of those leftover they put on they 74s. I am close to 45169
