Steamed Green bananas/Matooke cooked the traditional way (Ugandan) served with peanut sauce.
Bananas leaves used in steaming Matooke gives it a very tantalising flavour. Using banana leaves is healthy in every way. It is packed with polyphenols, which are natural antioxidants that is also found in green tea. These polyphenols battle all the free radicals in the body and prevent diseases. Banana leaf is also rich in polyphenol oxidase which is an enzyme to treat Parkinson’s disease. Banana leaves also have peculiar anti-bacterial properties that can kill germs in the food and aids proper digestion.

      @batzalmariamsrecipes.4996 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching dear. Peas vary in types and cooking times. This one I used is the most common here in UK it cooks in under 3 minutes. They're called green peas, garden peas or sweet peas. The ones we have in Uganda take a bit longer to cook, if you must use those, they must be cooked before hand.

    Nice preparation well done. When you open up the food as you did for serving, get a cover for a serving dish over the matooke, and turn the matooke over onto the serving dish cover. Then turn the matooke into the serving dish. You will have your food well placed into the serving dish and the cover well placed on top to preserve the heat in your food.

      Hey Jamaican Nana, that type of banana is eaten while still green. Matooke is what we call it locally in Uganda. Different from plantains.

      @@batzalmariamsrecipes.4996 ok got it thanks. We eat green bananas too just by boiling it or making a porridge we don’t usually mash it up It’s so interesting how different cultures take the same food and make different dishes.
