DUAL COLOR DRIVING LIGHTS | Auxbeam P4 Install & Review
In this video I'll be installing and reviewing Auxbeam's P4 Dual Color Driving lights.
Auxbeam was kind enough to reach out and ask if I wanted to check out any of their products so I took a look and was intrigued by these driving lights.
I'm a sucker for amber lights so I figured having the flexibility of both colors would ultimately make things easier.
They come with a prefabricated wiring harness that makes install and set up a breeze though I did add an additional relay so they would shut off with the cars ignition.
Installation was pretty straight forward even though on the Subaru it meant removing the bumper that actually wasn't too hard at all in my case.
The results as you can see in the video are pretty great. They are very bright so make sure to aim them properly. I look forward to seeing how they hold up over time, and I certainly feel a lot better, especially driving the van in poor conditions.

SIMPLE DUAL BATTERY SETUP | ( Auxiliary / House Battery Camper Van Overlanding)
มุมมอง 50Kปีที่แล้ว
Dual battery systems have come a long way. I've used a middle of the road setup that cost 6-700 dollars in my Subaru, an expensive set up that cost close to $1,500 and now I'll show you one of the cheaper options that cost around $400. I put this house battery setup in my buddies Chevy Express van, 'cause it gets used as a part time camper van on occasion and he wanted extra power to charge ele...

I’m like all but the Best is you Dog!!
PERFECT LINES BTW
Why not use a body filler to get rid of that dent in the fender?
@ 19:54 huge respect for that line to tie your emblems into the paint scheme!
What year Tacoma for those shocks?
Amazing video :)
Did you use circuit breakers rated for 120 amps for all 3 circuit breaker locations? Also, you have “x 2” listed in your shopping list for circuit breaker, should that be x 3? Any chance you could share the exact products or links to what battery you used, as well as the bracket that holds the battery? Thanks.
The third one will depend on the fuse box rating / what accessories will be powered through the fuse box. The amp rating should not be higher than whatever the fuse box is rated for. The battery was just picked up from a department store. The bracket was bought on eBay, it’s just a Chevy Express diesel battery mount.
Thanks. That helps a lot. I have a Chevy express, and basically trying to do the exact same thing as you did this this set up - run a 12v fridge and charge sole devices here and there. You’re video has been a great help. To confirm, the deep cycle battery should not be AGM?
Currently lifting my 97, 2in spacer lift trying to fit 28" tires under it
Great job!
Does anyone watching this see what size wire to use?
That will depend on the amps running through the wire, and the length of the wire you need to run. Look up DC wire gauge chart, there’s a lot of them out there.
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for, what kind of compressor did you use for the spraying?
Husky I think it’s a 30 gal
Great video, Thank you for this! Question, is it possible to use a Lithium battery instead of a lead-acid as the secondary battery or they both need to be the same type? Thanks again! :)
With this setup they need to be the same. To use a lithium or AGM you would want to use a DC-DC charger instead of the relay in this system.
@@DonnieDispersed Thanks Donnie! Greatly appreciated. Keep on doing great videos!
Good job.
You mention that as soon as you begin to turn the knob, you can hear the fuel running. If I lean down close, I can hear the fuel running as soon as I push the Lock lever down. Do you know if it's safe to light that way? I have been afraid to try using it because I thought it was escaping gas.
what about those who have no knowledge or experience in doing this plus no tools. I like the additional batter vs a portable battery
This a great video review! Thank you so much!
I was a live in logging site watchman. One day, I was outside, connecting my trailer batteries to a charger. I heard a stick snap. I went back inside. A full grown Mountain Lion walked by.
How big should the auxiliary battery be???
Depends on what you want to power with it
@@DonnieDispersed Laptop..phones..portable fridge for drinks???
@@jordanbey870 I would try for 100ah minimum
I set out trip wires with alarms to give me notice and also carry my "lil friend".
This might be a really basic question. But with this wiring does the battwery charge off the alternator? Im assuming the isolator makes sure its a one way system?
Both batteries charge off the alternator when the engine is running with this setup. Then the batteries are disconnected from each other when the engine is shut off.
@@DonnieDispersed Thank you so much for the reply!
Could i do this and use a 500ah lithium battery?
Lithium battery would require a dc-dc smart charger in place of the relay I used here
I followed this video and set up my batteries the same way. I think I did it correctly because it's working. One problem is, the 2 100 Ah batteries (which should hold up to 4000 Watt Hours) that I have hooked up drain so quickly even when they are full. The only thing I have plugged in to the inverter is my 2000 Watt power station, and the 2 batteries drain to zero before they are able to charge the power station to 50%. What could be causing the house batteries to drain so quickly?
I’d need more information to really help. What battery chemistry? I’m assuming lead acid if you followed this video. Did you wire the two batteries in parallel for 12v 200ah or series for 24v 100ah? I can say, that Inverters aren’t very efficient.
@@DonnieDispersed I have 2 Weize Deep Cycle AGM 12 Volt 100Ah batteries that are wired in parallel. One time, after they were fully charged, I turned off the power switch to the inverter, which means there was nothing connected to them. When I turned on the power switch again, to connect the inverter, the batteries had lost 10-20%. These are new batteries that have not been used for more than a total of 10 hours. Could they simply be defective, or could something else be wrong? Thanks, Donnie.
@@kevintieu5198 a 200ah 12v AGM bank wired in parallel will have an effective capacity of about 100ah (1200 watt hours). 4000watt hours would be if the bank was 200 useable amp hours wired to 24v in series. You have to cut the capacity in half, because the batteries are considered flat below 12v which happens at around 50% discharge. Sounds like you just overestimated your capacity. Also sounds like your inverter is putting a draw on the batteries even when switched off, in which case I would wire in a more positive disconnect like a cut off switch on the power wire. Though it may charge slower, I would say it’s probably more efficient to charge your bank directly via DC input. That way you will avoid the inefficiency of the inverter.
How did yoh get the front wheels to camber?
GREAT JOB! Looks terrific.
I've been living out here in the campsites for some time I don't drink or do drugs but I have found that the people that are drinking alcohol are the biggest problem out here they don't use their heads at all disruptful Behavior
Would love to know if you've observed any rust
Nice build , where can I buy a snorkel for grand vitara xl7? it has air intake in front left corner
do you know any LED lights (like fairy lights) that would connect to the fuse box, I'm looking but I only see ones with USB?
I’ve used some led strip lights that have direct DC wiring.
Why would someone get a dc to dc system. This seems much cheaper
Better batteries such as AGM or Lithium require a dc to dc charger. This works because the battery is a standard lead acid deep cycle battery. Same charging requirements as the vans starting battery so it has no issue connecting and charging in line with this relay. This battery and set up costs less but lacks some of the benefits of other batteries.
Glad ya have a gun.
I’m fixing to do this in a few days on a jeep my only concern is , does the color come out lighter that you picked out due to the white raptor liner ? I guess what I’m trying to say is did your blue come out the same as you intended? Looks great man love the old school two tone.
The tintable raptor is a sort of grey color. It’s came out close enough to the correct color that it’s hard to tell a difference but I’ve hear of people getting their tint colors a tad lighter to compensate for the grey.
many thanks for your feedback. Thanks to you i dscovered i guess the best tire for me. This apart does your viara has a OEM locking diff? or just low gears ratio and l frame chassis? Thanks!
Great video and good points ..
I have a 2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and put ona set of Trail Terrain…I am very disappointed! Use on a 4x4 Coffee land ( hillside).. NO traction but could be the AWL system on the Jeep Compass..? I also own 4x4 TRD Tacoma, and a 4x4 Tundra both with BFGs A/T…buy these instead. Here is my thoughts Trail Terrain 99% for highways and 1% light off roads.. But I lose too much traction even when dry ..worst on rainy times..
How so you charge a drill battery within this setup? Do you need a power inverter connected to the Aux battery > circut breaker? Why dont you have a DCDC Charger in this setup? Thanks for the concise video.
Wish they had these for 5 feet by 3 feet. Or just bigger sizes in general. Does anyone know where I can get these in big sheets?
These tires give Too much road noise
Don't most all-terrain tires do that?
Firearms are like a fire extinguisher. You may go your entire life without having a fire near you, but the day you do, you will be darn happy you had one at hand. We are all responsible for our own safety and protection. The police are generally just the backup plan and will be doing the paperwork to record what happened. A firearm is not a magic shield...If you own a gun, get trained on how to deploy it and how to hit your target. Do not be the person that buys a gun, shoots 1 box of ammo, and think they are prepared. It takes literally a thousand rounds to even begin to understand the safe use of a gun. Lastly, be spiritually prepared, and remind your loved ones often about how you feel about them, because even if you have a gun when trouble calls on you to respond, you may still lose that fight.
I set boobietraps💀
If you pour faster, maybe you could get the top to come off and then you'd have something else to find fault with, you clod. Maybe try using the item the way it's intended. Then you wouldn't have issues. But then you wouldn't have your video.
Maybe you should make a video and show all us clods how it’s done. 🤡
Love it I built a 2000 GV
Finally the video that simply explains all the steps. Thank you.
Exactly! I second that 😃🙌🏼🙌🏼
If my second battery will be running 1000 watts for extended periods of time, does that effect the gauge wire I should have between the starter battery and the auxiliary battery? Does that draw from the inverter/auxiliary battery work its way up to the other battery? i was going to just run an inverter from the starter battery, but seems like a high draw for such a long cable (10 feet), so I thought adding another battery might buffer this system. Am I correct in my thinking? I was going to have 00 gauge wire for 1 battery inverter setup 10 foot away, but with the extra battery I could get away with 4 gauge instead(running from battery to battery)? And then just have a couple of feet of 00 gauge from the aux battery to the inverter. Hope I explained this question well.
excellent review. thanks
I do carry when I'm out in the woods alone - which is most times I go. Like you, I have had more instrances of unpleasant people around than animals - except for one bear encounter that was very dicy. But, he walked away and I didn't have to shoot him. I usually arrive into some area early, so I'm almost always the first person there. That said, number one Action Item is to pick a good solid, safe backstop, and shoot a rapid fire barrage into it so anyone within earshot knows I'm there - and armed. A couple more times during the sday to keep them aware, and another barrage just before dark. If I hear a vehicle crunching around nearby, I sling arms so they see me if they go by. A friendly wave is exchanged and that's that. "A Strong Fence Makes Good Neighbors." 1) it's good practice, and 2) the message is obvious.
My diesel truck has two onboard batteries. How to connect the Isolator?
Wish i had used adhesion products. Especially around edges, door handle and lower body chip prone areas. Nice video
now that you brought up the part about having a gun when you are out camping hiking or just outside breathing fresh air if you're not spinning it around on your finger nobody needs to know you have it and yes things can and do happen that we have no control over and when seconds count police are minutes away if your ok with that good no one can make that decision for you I don't look for trouble and I don't want it looking for me. self awareness is your choice. just don't make my choices for me.
Will the house battery charge via the alternator when the car is on with this setup?
Yes 👍
