Are you guys part of a 4wd club or bunch of mates. Would be fun to tag along on a trip like this
@@chrisdearsley5096 we have a Facebook group and do a few trips together when we can We also belong to clubs and the NZ four wheel drive association Search JL2OFFRD on Facebook Insta gram and TikTok
@@JL2OFFRD Thanks for that if you could keep me in the loop for future trips that would be great. Cheers Chris
Must be magical in the snow!
@@forester_overland_nz last year I missed the good snow by two weeks !
Are you winning the battle underbody? I’m out here most weekends and she’s eating away at my new 79 weekly.
@@lukepaul2882 it’s not easy is it I have just orders another 6 litres of “Salt Shift” for the chassis washer and also there underbody chassis blaster now You have to keep at it and touch up bits as you see the paint ware thin Truck is 3 years old now so by year 5 I might be getting chassis blasted and painted
Should have left the morons there.
Should have gone to the Kauri lazy bastard
Nice job, go the 80 power house ! ❤
Just winch it from the towball, or a sling from the tow ball. Your not snatching it
Good job guys, just thought to say something for the future. Every time when i see someone pulling a bogged vehicle out in revers gear, it hurts my diffs so bad. Just look after your own truck mate always try to pull moving forward. Its much better for your diffs.
@@shadowfax49 the guy who owned the Landcruser didn’t have a rear tow point fitted ! I did tell him it wasn’t a good idea to tow in reverse and said just pull back slowly and if it doesn’t move just stop
Hahah is the guy ins the subi named Ian?
@@LosSquid yes do you know him ?
@@JL2OFFRD yea mete he use to ride with us on road bikes unfortunately he had a huge accident which I believe almost killed him! I have haven’t seen him in a couple of years now.
@@LosSquid oh so he’s taken to four wheels instead
@@JL2OFFRD hahah i think so! I’d love to bring my next gen ranger out sometime when I’m back from Aussie should have it set up decent by then for camping.
@@LosSquid that sounds good Keen to see what you do to it
Salt shift at its pleak
I just ordered more on the weekend
Been there done that, lesson learned..
Yes so did I many years ago
Now they can slap a QD in it
You sacked it 😂, At least the boys stepped up an helped...
The owner just sat there and watched as his mates did all the work ! I think he was in shock !
How do you locate these tracks?
Jump on Google and search the area you should find it
Join your local 4wd club
As a local this was hard to watch haha, good trip tho
The fark are you towing in reverse for ?????
He had no tow points on the rear I told him to go real slow and if it didn’t move just stop , definitely not recommended The Nissan had no front tow points !!!
I was gonna say the same thing. Must like his current drive line
I got an 80 very hard to beat them as they were built to last unlike anything modern
@@danielhay184 not in reverse crown wheel likes to strip teeth under load
That’s my 80 pulling it out, sent you a Facebook message mate if I could get some of the vids I didn’t see on here
You did well Ethan I have replied to your message
What motors in your 80 bro. Tough as👌
@@bobbelford5040 it’s not my 80 mines the Blue Ranger He just flagged me down to help
Pulling something that full of water in reverse.......keen. Very lucky boys there!
I honestly didn’t think it would go so easy
Mis-jugdement i reckon.. anyway lesson learn from all of us 4wd lovers..
What’s the deal with murewai beach now a days do you have to apply for a permit?
Yes you need a permit but is free and can be done on line through Auckland Council website
Oh wow!! Glad they got it out. Toyota for the win!
Overestimated his vehicle's capability I reckon.
He wasn’t really thinking !
More likely not expecting the hole. Ive done it myself. I didnt get caught though.
Great video. What front and rear bars are you running?
Thanks The front bar is MCC low loop winch bar and rear is a TJM The rear bar replaces the entire tow bar and number and gives you 50mm higher tow hitch I’d lover there front bar to but is approx $3500
awesome!
Glad to see you're able to drive pretty close to Castle Rock. When we visit the place a couple years back all gates were locked.
What are they like to be in when windy?
No problem just park with the back against the wind if you think it’s going by to be windy
What tyre pressure do you deflate to
Usually between 18-22 psi on muriwai as when the tide is out it’s a pretty hard surface You can always stop and let more out along the way
Would I be able to drive with my 2x4 on kariotahi beach?
No I wouldn’t if the tide is up a bit as it’s pretty soft sand On a very low tide maybe but I would see if others have driven down the beach first
@JL2OFFRD all good, thank you . Are the sand on Muriwai the same soft? And do I have better luck to drive there?
@kiwietsbehrens muriwai is much harder at a very low tide but getting on and off the beach is soft
@@JL2OFFRD Thanks for the advice
That water crossing looked sick. Badass.
Great show from the guys on that trip
Would be awesome to get video run down of your trailer setup.
I do plan to do a run video on the truck and the trailer I’ve just been doing a few extra mods to the trailer this week including a two inch lift
Can you drop a location of where the access is from wilson road?
I can’t post a pin on here sorry If you mean off Wilson’s road end drive just past Kereta lake and the entrance to the beach track is on the right You will see a sign for the Bombing Range at the entrance
@@JL2OFFRD Cheers thanks found it
Nice video mate, I parked up next to your ranger at mitre10 albany the other day, what a cool looking rig man!
Cheers for that Shame I didn’t see you at the time
looks like somewhere to try my Outlander and its new A/T tires (only ones that fit) finally got rid of the standard street ones
Definitely worth a look
That's the Waikato river mouth, down the end there.
Yes and on the other side is the Port Waikato Sand dunes Another great place for a day trip
It was good but bloody wet!!!
I was told we are not allowed to camp there...?
You are definitely not allowed to camp at Muriwai Beach but Kariotahi has always been a camping beach There are no signs saying you can’t camp there
Sick video loved it there
It’s a wild coast line Cool place alright
@@JL2OFFRD I was with Ryan in the Triton
@@leafskating hey Levi , it was a good trip , hopefully see you on few more
@@JL2OFFRD hopefully Jules
A few mates tipped a quad bike driving up didn’t put enough weight on the front
It really is steeper than it looks on camera
Can any vehicle get thru these roads? Are the roads tassel or gravel as I don't have a 4WD I just have a standard car. Any help would be appreciated
Yes any car Can access the main dirt road The Kaimanawa wall is literally on the side of the road so easy to get to as are all the camp sites that are just located of the side of the road The quarry track is definitely 4wd only
Aww thankyou for your help also, from Taupo city is the kaimanawa far from their? I will have 3 children with me traveling and want to be Allgood going their. Want to get their before winter comes in
@@user-zb3wi9cm2s no not to far maybe 40 mins to the road itself
@JL2OFFRD thankyou so much for your info
have you used inox before? i'm wondering if inox or salt shift rust protector products are better but can't find any reviewe
No I haven’t but that’s not a bad idea As long as it’s not to runny as it would drip off the chassis
Is this stuff the same as salt away used for flushing outboards ect
@@lukepaul2882 Salt Shift do a marine version also I’ve been impressed with the way there product dissolves the salt and sand before washing away
25 :41 That's one way to flood an engine even with a snorkel. Lucky Edit: did you guys check the flow rates before going? Any idea what it was? That looks like a good 7 cumecs
The guys just jumped straight in Definitely deeper than they had thought
I like the video.Having driven this beach for over 30yrs. Driving so close to water line is actually incredibly dangerous and unpredictable. This is how many vehicles have had accidents on the beach. You should actually drive slightly further up , where the sand is still firm ,and less chance of hidden soft spots. My 2 cs Great to see you enjoying and respectful of the wonderful place cheers
Speed is the key on any part of the beach Simply most people need to just slow down because yes the sand is unpredictable
How the hell did he manage that on a straight bit of 50k rd? Also what are the red lights flashing on your rig for?
They are actually amber the filter makes them red
Ram a lamb, ram a lamb , a ding dong.

Thanks for taking care of my free horse Jules and great driving keeping them safe!
She was a pleasure to be with I’d Do it all again
That is beautiful!!! Excellent music choice...Horse POWAAAAaA!!!
awesome vlog but I'm not a fan of your low profile tyres. I'd stick to traditional rim sizes for a bigger foot print.
You would be amazed at how wide they get when they are down at 12-15 psi Ive had all different rim and tyre sizes over the years from 15” rims with 36” tyres to 17” with 33” tyres and the taller the profile the more sidewall flex you get sideways and the more unstable the vehicle becomes with low pressures We are finding these 295 33” with lower profile are working out well for both on and off-road and are certainly much wider when let down ,
What’s you rim size on the ranger? I’ve a disco in factory 19s with 255/65
@@gwilymrees8597 295/55/20 the sidewalls have some good flex when aired down
The track is way steeper than it looks. Thanks for sharing
You can never capture just how steep things are on Video Good little side track though
Still open ?
Yes currently I was there at the beginning of the year So far we are managing to keep access as long as we behave in there
@@JL2OFFRD yea bro I take out rubbish when I've been only been there once just respect what we have
