Very nice, I love that trailer setup!
Wife and I have been rooftop + trailer camping for many year. It's bloody good fun. Glad to see a youngish fella out doing the same thing.👍
Thanks for the Youngish Compliment!!!
I can’t get my wife to go in the roof top tent
She bought a Caravan and that’s what she calls camping !
@@JL2OFFRD LOL yes some woman feel more at home with 4 wall, For my wife and I a rooftop tent is great. Hell in our younger days it was just a swag and not the flash ones you get today. just a folded bit of canvas. 😄🖖 mind you the trailer is her kitchen / lounge room / hot shower /. So you can have your cake and eat it. Even when rooftop tent and trailer camping.
Love your Ranger and trailer build, and this area and lake are beautiful. We have the same top case , though ours is marketed under not one, but two different names, each claiming they're the manufacturer. Such is the overland market here.
Yes I saw the boxes on your rig
So much gear is the same with different brand names in them
Roof top tents are like that
Love your hot water set up and might have to copy it !!!
nice view!!
When you mentioned about calling into the DOC office for a chat and a permit for your pooch? What requirements does a dog have to meet to be eligible for a permit? I see some DOC areas are dog on leash or dog with permit or no dogs allowed..
The Kaimanawa area is quite easy
They just ask for your details and the dogs registration chip number and address then your good to go , many areas are no dogs at all due to certain species and endangered animals being there
For some areas you have to put your dog through a Avian aversion coarse , where they put a vibrating collar on your dog and release some birds usually ducks to make sure your dog does not hunt or chase them , A slight vibrating shock is given if they do
This lasts for two years and then you have to do it again
I am yet to do this but plan to before summer , apparently it’s not as bad as it sounds
There is info on the DOC website
The permit I got lasts for three months and allows you to camp and hike in the specified area
No cost either , best to do it by email before you go
@@JL2OFFRD ok cool.! Thanks for that info.! 👍
Hi was wondering what the name of the second location where you had lunch just after locating your tire. I can't quite catch the name.
Waipakihi Road you can follow it down the side of the river where I stopped at the end for lunch by the river
Awesome thank you 👍
Lucky it still apears open
It will be for a bit longer
Working hard to keep it open
@@JL2OFFRD cheers appreciated ! Awesome footage
How do you find the permits for dogs dose it apply to service dogs
You can apply at the Department of Conservation office for the area you intend to go to
There web site will have all the numbers of the local offices and email contacts
The permit is free
I believe you will still need one for a service dog
Hope that helps
What Dash cam??
I do run a Garmin dash cam but not for filming
For filming I use a IPhone and a DJI action 2 camera
What land anchor are you running?
I wondered who would spot that , this was a prototype that was made about 20years ago in NZ, i can’t remember the brand nor is it marked with a brand , it is nice and compact and folds out for use , they are still out there so id say do a google search
