Very good! But looking back, he is trying too hard to be iconic, lol! A lot of the songs sound the same! The same chords, same riffs! Dressed how he thinks a rock star dresses...
Breathtaking
Who's still listening to this classic in 2025
I played this song at my sister's funeral for 14 years ago. And I played this song at my father's funeral for 2 weeks ago.
Love the acoustic version of this song! The lyrics take front and centre, "I'm ready to grow young again" hits me every time! Bruce is a talented man
My dad was in chosen reservoir in Korea.
Esta canción la ponía yo en la pandemia
Timeless poetry. Masterpiece.
Hé is definitly thé soundtrack of m’y Life. Each day with me Since 83 ❤️
America at its best.
Brilliant. 3 months after Steven left the band 🥲
never back down
Beautiful Bruce ❤❤❤❤❤
The doctor says, "so you're a guitar player.... I don't think you're going to play the guitar anymore, son. I said, fuck that!" - Long live Petty.
I don’t know if it is the mouth organ, but this version seems to me to have a sadness and wistfulness about it. Perhaps Bruce was missing his dreaming partner. Still a very, very good song ❤❤❤❤
My first Bruce Springsteen concert was in Munich with the same band he has on this time not the original E-street band, was an live time memory I had the ticket on my wall every where I went, unfortunately I lost the ticket true my travel but not the memories ❤❤
Bruce resonates with every person on this thread because we all relate to his words in so many ways because we are middle class trying to get by and have some left over while making memories that we can keep forever.

For Ukraine, no retreat no surrender!!!
Played the cassette of this album nonstop for a year
Who the fuck is any better!!!
Listening and watching this just makes my heart ache and feel joy at the same time. What a wonderful treasure to enjoy.
So so beautiful sometimes we dream and get knocked aside then all hope of dreaming goes Been there a bunch of times but this is so good ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing! Blows you away again and again! One of the greats . Keep on rocking BOSS❤
Uma musica que sempre vai ficar guardada bem no coraçao. The BOSS
I’m always wary of artists second guessing themselves, but Bruce was on the money here - this song should always have been played this way. Sublime, and worthy of being held up as a representative of a life’s work.
Great show....3rd time...sorry always more than great.....cried at the first concert....It's Mÿ Life....
I was at this concert in Toronto, much younger then, these many years later I’m still moved by this version…I am ready to grow young again.
Bruce Springsteen = God of Music !!!
This song has to be played at my funeral.
I remember, I was there that night.
I don't know about anyone else, but that was the dopest intro I've ever heard. So genuine and so cool. What an endearing human being and amazing performer he was.
Bruce saved my life
WOW this is pretty rare video of that great song~Thank you for posting this🙏
Jersey shore guy here. This was song #1 on my playlist in my senior yr In HS, 1999. Thank you Bruce.
Damn, Bruce. You sold out to The Man. You should have served in the military to have proved your street creds. You're just another fake sell-out.
This song brings me back to my childhood to when my sister, my dad and I would just crank Bruce until basically fell asleep. This song makes me cry, and not because Iam sad it’s that I want to relive those moments.
“Now iam ready to grow young again” 😢
Such a beautiful powerful Song, perfect live Act...❤🤟
Epic Masterpiece. I wish he would play this on the 2023 tour in Germany. I love the early songs more than the newer ones.
Well, we busted out of class Had to get away from those fools We learned more from a three-minute record, baby Than we ever learned in school Tonight I hear the neighborhood drummer sound I can feel my heart begin to pound You say you're tired and you just want to close your eyes And follow your dreams down Well, we made a promise we swore we'd always remember No retreat, baby, no surrender Like soldiers in the winter's night With a vow to defend No retreat, baby, no surrender Well, now young faces grow sad and old And hearts of fire grow cold We swore blood brothers against the wind Now I'm ready to grow young again And hear your sister's voice calling us home Across the open yards Well maybe we could cut some place of our own With these drums and these guitars 'Cause we made a promise we swore we'd always remember No retreat, baby, no surrender Blood brothers in the stormy night With a vow to defend No retreat, baby, no surrender Hey La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Now on the street tonight the lights grow dim The walls of my room are closing in There's a war outside still raging You say it ain't ours anymore to win I want to sleep beneath Peaceful skies in my lover's bed With a wide open country in my eyes And these romantic dreams in my head 'Cause once we made a promise we swore we'd always remember No retreat, baby, no surrender Blood brothers in the stormy night With a vow to defend No retreat, baby, no surrender No retreat, baby, no surrender
This is heaven! I love it when he says “it’s real good to be back” and Tom means it. 🔥💔
Ain't a truer word spoken........" We learnt more from a three minute record then we ever learnt in school"
yeehah who needs edjeekashun?
Yes, this version
Benn thinking this version was from the Concert for Heroes after 9/11. I had only heard it and not seen it...the bandana gives away the Born in the USA era. Anyways, Still my favorite version.
Not too long ago Pack Up The Plantation (the full concert) was on TH-cam. If someone was able to put it on again that would be great. I used to have the video years ago and it would be great to see it again. If they were to put it on dvd I would definitely buy it.
wow incredible bruce nice work e street
He looks like Nils Lofgren there.
I just love listening to springsteens voice. The passion and love for music he gives is amazing
