Does the concrete leech and poison the fish area?
I’ve got hybrid bluegill and hybrid crappie. Around 800 bluegill, 100 crappie and 100 red ear. My pond is 1 acre. What’s the best approach to maintain
It was good fishery management information. The web has standard weight tables for each sportfish specie. Divide the weight of your fish by the standard weight X 100 this gives Relative weight.
I would like to see a video 📹 on your professional opinion on aquatic plants 🪴 for a bass pond . Such as lilly pads and ex. I'd be interested in seeing a video on the best plants for a bass pond and the worst plants to add to a new bass pond. Because I don't no much but I believe that there are a few plants u would not like to put in a pond . I think it be a great information video thanks
i built a 3 acre pond 15 years ago. i never put any fish in it other than some grass carps. ducks and geese stocked my pond for me by flying in and depositing eggs. now i have over 5 pound large mouth and 12" blue gills. have never fed them either.
I don't own a pond but I ended up on this video somehow and now I can't stop watching.
Excellent!
Thanks for your explanation I love your voice
Where did the artificial lily pads come from?
Having all my bottom up aerators going 24/7 in the extreme heat of the summer with trout, no way.
We have small lake in Florida and is filled with tilapia. Is this still the best way to stock this small lake?
Hello Josh, this stocking strategy is for new ponds that do not have any fish in them yet!
Intro is long
Agreed! We have adjusted it since this release.
Too many migrant fish
Great video. I’ve learned so much from your channel. We are starting the process of rejuvenating a one acre pond overran with 10-12” bass.
Good luck!!

Outstanding video. I have shared this. Superbly explained, along with great visuals. I'm sure many will find this helpfull. So many just dont believe me when i advise that cloudy days can have an impact. Much respect. Ty.
Thanks for watching!
Hi, I am in Brazil and have stocked a pond with largemouth. It´s came great, almost 3 years so far. Here we don´t have Blue Gill, but I´m growing Pumpkin Seed to stock the pond. Is it ok/fine as Blue Gill? Any big difference/concern? Thank you.
We got pumpkin seed here in Florida too. I’m not a biologist, but all bream (bluegill, pumpkin seed, red breast, etc.) function the same. I’d stick with the pumpkin seeds you got, shouldn’t be any different than if you were to stock it with bluegill
Great video
Do you guys have any issues with the trees along the pond? I'm planning a half acre pond about 10-15' off of a tree line for shade and have heard that big trees' roots can punch through the clay lining and create leaks/suck up water...
You can test phosphorus levels at home for next to nothing. If you have a reef tank, a pond is a walk in the park. Everything you monitor in a reef tank carries over to a pond. If you have a pond and you want quality fish, you better be a really good keeper of WATER.
That's fish habitat. Fish structure is drop offs, creek beds steep banks etc...
Music sucks
what if you know you have an abundance of bluegill and bass but they are hard as hell to catch?
do you still have to cut or remove the cattails after?
Absolutely terrific.
Do you start feeding from the time you stock a pond?
Great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I would like your sheet for length to weight ratio please. How do I get that? Another question. My PB largemouth was 26.25" long. How much should it weigh to be at 100%? I measured length, girth & got weight on this fish. But I'm curious what its weight should be? Thanks
You can find relative weight tables online by searching on Google. A 26.5” fish should be 10.5+ lbs. I’ll drop a link to a table.
extension.uga.edu/content/dam/extension-county-offices/effingham-county/anr/sportfish-management-/Relative%20Weight%20Chart.pdf
Super interesting. With bass fishing it's become a catch& release sport for the majority. Which could be hurting a lot of fisheries for big bass. What about a scenario in that pond your at now. Say you catch a 6+ pound bass & it's weight to length ratio is way under 100% do you harvest that bass to promote big bass population?
you don’t have a clue what you’re saying, with the amount of tournaments every week throughout the year thousands of Bass get killed.
I'd say that's a big stretch
What a dream.
Where do you purchase in TX ?
Hello Gene, we offer shipment anywhere in the US. Give us a call at 1-800-753-5253 if you have any other questions or would like to order!
Fertilize your pond. Lots easier and bigger impact for whole pond health
50 acre pond. Caught 100 fish between 4 anglers. 95% weighed 1.25 lbs. Sounds like we should be harvesting?
Thanks Guys!
Sar yah floating fountain Mujhe chahie I want floating fountain please rate me India
when i turn my KASCO aerator on ,the floatation part starts spionning in a circle until it actually pulls it underwater enough to change spray pattern, whats wrong?
Good advice kudos!
I would like to see a video on catfish Specifically, do they cause ponds to be muddy.
Good one 👍
"Small pond fountain" ... Just a check you may wish to do, if you can launch a boat into your "pond" it isn't small !
Are you close to Arkansas? We have a very bad erosion problem.
We do service the Arkansas area. Give us a call at 1-800-753-5253 and we will walk you through the services we offer in your area!
I have a bluegill crowded pond, exact scenario you described with every bluegill being 5” max. A few largemouth bass that are pretty skinny. The only stocker near me offers bass that are 2-3” in size, will these bass be eaten by the other bass in the pond because they’re so small? My pond is 1 acre in size.
It’s possible, but if there aren’t many bass out there then you should have some survival. They will be stocked into a system where this is already a tremendous amount of food so the odds of them getting eaten are less.
thanks for this video. Lots of useful information packed in a short video 👍
So ive read that most all of this fish food components are imported from.china and its all poisonous and tainted low-quality garbage. If you want to eat any of the fish from your pond, your gonna eat what they eat. So if these foods contain toxic yuk, whats that mean really?
Calling now for a quote.
Do you do installs
We sure do! We did the installation in this video. Give us a call for a free consultation at 800-753-5253.
we have a pond that only has large mouth in it and they are all stunted. I would like to add another species to the pond to help provide food for the bass but that could also possibly keep the bass fry in check. Would I be able to stock yellow perch into this scenario? Great content!
We added carp to our pond a few years ago to get the weed out of our pond and we think they are messing up the bluegills they are not on there beds. Any suggestions?
Catch them, carp feed of the bottom, bluegills make shelter near food, carp eats the food from bluegills's nests. There ain't no way that I know to fix that problem, but you could temporarily feed carp with some boiled grains far away from the bluegills.
What do we do if our lake has very little structure and a shad problem? Most of these shad being over 10-12 inches.
Best bet would be to rotenone it and start over. But if you don't want to do that, you're going to need some big predators. Not sure what part of us you're in or I'd say pike, but you also don't have structure you said. So if you're not too far north, get some big catfish, blues or flathead. Channels chase shad too, but only the big ones and it takes longer for them to grow.
Hello we purchased a home with a roughly 1500 square foot pond that is about 6 feet deep and approximately 3 years old. There is a lot of invertebrates and frogs. Ph is good and there is a lot of nutrition entering the pond via leaf litter in the fall. It is full of pondweed and naiad and they are growing incredibly fast. In May I have introduced eelgrass and coontail for habitat and oxygen. The pondweed and naiad are so dense we decided to get a small grass carp(knowing it may be too much later on). We also stocked one pound of fathead minnows to provide a future forage base. My wife wanted koi so we got 4 small koi. We are looking to put in an aerator in the next couple weeks before the fish load becomes too high. We are looking to add 3 dozen small bluegill fry and 1 dozen redear fry around September. Our goal is a bluegill pond. Are we on the right track?
I live in an apartment that has a half acre pond. I would catch both largemouth and bluegill. Last year a 22" small mouth appeared in the pound and now I'm not seeing any largemouths. Is it possible the smallmouth killed the largemouth bass? There are plenty of bluegill in pond.
