This channel is created to provide short and concise tutorials for simulations in fluid dynamics and heat transfer phenomena, since the process of creating the geometry (usually done in Autodesk Inventor), setting it up in Ansys Fluent, to generating visually attractive animations!
Ansys Fluent Multiphase Flow With Adaptative Mesh Refinement | Part 1: Geometry and Meshing
This video shows the geometry and meshing of an Ansys Fluent tutorial. On this tutorial a water tank, initially filled with air, will be filled with liquid water; the flow will be simulated using the VoF Multiphase Flow approach.
The idea of this project is to make two simulations, one with an static mesh, and another with an adaptative mesh, that refines itself as the simulationd advances. The objective behind this is to visualize the difference that the Automative Mesh Adaptation tool on Ansys can make on the quality of a fluid simulation.
In this first chapter, the geometry will be drawn using AutoDesk Fusion 360, and later it ill be meshed in two dimensiones using Ansys Fluent.

I am using System Coupling. But when I select one region from Strutal and one from Fluid, I only get 1 Data Transfer isntead of 2...Previously, I used to automatically get 2 Data transfers. What should I do?

I don’t understand why in the animation there is a clear separation of fluid speeds between the rotating region and the stator region, it shouldn’t be like that.

One question pls, why did you separate the boundary layer at 5:25 ? my guess is that youdon't want to apply dynamic mesh remeshing, layering and smoothing on the boundary layer zone, but only apply the remeshing on the tetrahedral/triangular cells of the fluid zone pls correct me if I am wrong Thanks!

Hi, that error usually means the mesh moved too far in one direction and it ended up collapsing. The most general advice would be to reduce the time step in half, so the mesh has more opportunities to update itself. Also, you could plot the mesh so you can see exactly what is going on. Hope that helps

What exactly does the formula you wrote in the velocity magnitude section mean?
Hi, I used that formula so the inlet velocity transitions slowly from a value of v=0 at t=0, to a value of v=v0, at a large enough value of t. If I had used a constant velocity, you would have seen the velocity transition from v=0 at t=0, to v=v0 in just a few time steps. And that wouldn't look realistic. Hope that clarifies it.

I'm working on my thesis which needs to be completed, and I'm struggling to meet the demands of my thesis supervisor who requires obtaining RPM directly from Ansys simulation. Sir, I have a question. I'm doing my project on magnetorheological shear thickening polishing for brittle materials. However, I'm doing simulations with ANSYS software for CFD, and I have obtained satisfactory results. But for solid mechanics, I want to check when cracks and fractures will occur and how the penetration of grits or abrasive particles could impact this. Could you please help me with this?

I saw that you subtracted from the small cylinder around it but in mesh when you had a cross section it seemed like the rigid body of wall is subtracted from it ? or when you moved to design modeler it counts the turbine wall and the cylinder around it one item
