This channel serves as our memory lane, a reminder that adventure is essential in our lives.
We are a family of three in the service. We move around a lot, but Tennessee is our home.
Inspired by our son, Max, we are passionate about storytelling based on his overland adventures on less-traveled roads wherever that next duty station will lead us.
We are less focused on monetary gains or clicks. We care more about connecting to a community of like-minded people, hoping that one day, we may share a campfire with you along the trail.
Thank you for riding along!

How we Overland Hawaii | Camp.Swim.Hike
#overland #camping #hawaii #novsight #maxdexpeditions
Cross-country trips, camping in remote locations, and exploring unmarked trails are a thing of the past now. At least for the next three years while we live in Oahu. In Hawaii, everything is just a piece of commodity, meaning everything has a price. I am not surprised since it is the most visited of the Hawaiian Islands, and business here is booming. With public access to showers and food trucks, and almost every place has a name on Google Maps, our style of overlanding here will be different from that of the mainland. That's why we did not feel the need to bring our fridge, rooftop tent, and drawer system.
For the first episode/s of our "SALTY" series, we are focusing on the North Shore of the Island. We started our day with a hike to the 'Ehukai Pillbox Trail. It was an easy hike, but it could have been better if Max had the proper trail shoes for the terrain. We just can't find the right size anywhere on the Island for now.
We will be back on the North Shore. There are still quite a few activities and places for us to experience and share. However, we might repeat camping in the same campsites since public land here is scarce. Thank you for being here! Stay wild and have fun.

I am not a mechanic or a certified automotive electrician, so this is not intended to be a how-to video. I am simply sharing my experience installing my Wolfbox G900 dash camera on a 2020 4Runner. watching here my friend
Hi how did you remove the rear view camera i was havng a hardtime do you need to slide it up?
@@cayayore-vc4oi you mean the rear view mirror? I pulled down the upper plastic and I slide it up
@ yes the rear view mirror hahaha but thank you! I will try it again
Love it ❤
Nice video! Question how much power does it drain for the 24/7 mode? Is it something to worry about?
@@jonathanmariani5627 sorry I don’t know how much power it drains. It depends on your battery and if you drive everyday you have nothing to worry about. I put mine on a smart battery charger since it’s not driven a lot lately. Take care

Great video 👍🙂
If we do have kdss, can we still use the kdss fuse slot?
You can, but I would use something least important
❤❤❤
That's absolutely awesome bro. Ang Ganda talaga ang ganyang trip mag adventure, mag camping gamit ang sariling camper car. Hope to see you upload more videos bro.
How did you get the wires through the black valence? Did you have to drill a rather large hole to get the pin connector piece through it?
@@jessehorton1100 Yes, I did. About 1/8 size hole at the back of the black trim piece
@@maxdexpeditionsthanks! I ended up doing the same, after a little trial and error with different sized bits. Kept going with the next size up, didn’t want the hole to be too large. I am at a bit of a standstill though. I think my brain is overwhelmed with all the videos I’ve watched. Any ideas on completing install without tapping into the break light? I needed to put the camera outside bc my truck came with nearly limo tint on the rear window.
@ tapping into the break light is just for the grid lines. Tbh I never used mine. I’m used to backing with just my mirrors. So I might remove the grid line wiring
Been looking at this mirror and was searching for a video that showed the install in a 4runner, thank you.
This is great. Wish you had this video years ago lol
so beautiful natur great smokey mountain
How did I miss this one! Thanks for sharing. Can’t believe how big Max is getting!
Very cool.. I love forests and mountains so I appreciate your video a lot...
New friend here from Ms.Kayak7Seas. Great visual and narration. Let's stay connected.👍👍👍
Mashallah, 👌👍
Hello my new friend, thank you for the wonderful and beautiful sharing, be successful, healthy and happy, 👍❤️💚❤️💚❤️
Beautiful family 😊❤
@@davidhubble6556 thank you 🙏
I have bought a wolfbox and am researching mounting options, you are one of the few that have chose to mount inside as opposed to out on the bottom side of the spoiler. Any issues with the interior mounting option? Issues I have read about are dark due tint and wiper not cleaning that part of the rear window (seems that would be an issue if mounted outside as well).
@@PapaJutty I have mounted rear cameras in the 4runner since I got the vehicle new. It’s all about preference and both options have advantages and disadvantages. The main Issue I had with mounting it inside is: 1. When we are fully loaded, pulling stuff out of the rear we tend to knock out the camera out of place. 2. Sometimes we sleep inside the cab and we knock out the camera when we get out And yes dirt is an issue for both options but you’ll have a smaller surface area to worry about (camera lens) when you mount it outside Because of this two points I have since moved the rear cam outside under the spoiler as I have shown at the end of the video. If I’m not camping and have no kids I’ll definitely mount mine inside. It’s just more secure and when I open the hatch the camera is still pointed where I need it to be
Hi, maxD. We are still evacuating from natural disasters, flooding by Helene and Hurricane Milton. I am doing my best to support you. I am watching the playlist moose river to start with.
@@ms.kayak7seas Don’t worry about it! I care more about you all than TH-cam! Take care of yourself first! Stay safe
If I’m gonna buy I’ll choose the magnetic charging.
I don’t know anything about expensive flashlight before watching this video. Thanks for this very informative video bro.
Great job with the install video! After you moved the rear camera to be under the spoiler and routed the cables through the boot, how did you get the red wire back inside the vehicle to connect it to a rear taillight so when you put your vehicle in reverse, the rear camera comes on and displays the parking guidelines?
@@dinopicinich Thank you. I taped the the red wire/park guide to the main cable so the end of it ended in the liner inside the cab. The main issue was, the red line was too short to tap to my left reverse light so I soldered another wire of same size and routed it from the liner through the left rear pillar.
@@maxdexpeditions would you happen to remember what gauge that red wire was that you extended?
Wow there is also seal in Hawaii 😮congrats bro you all made it to Hawaii🎉
I guess Max only loves to wear crocs.
That is one of the best memories of Max childhood ❤
Amazing adventure bro, stay safe always

Amazing drone shots in the intro! Great shots of the turtle and seal.. And flying the kite looks really fun! And sunset is of course lovely! Thanks for taking us along.
Great adventure, good shots! Thanks for sharing. Greetings with sub.
As always some great landscape photography as you headed west. Oklahoma may not be the most scenic state but still those wide open landscapes are wonderful to experience. We crossed the state east to west but not on such wild routes as you. We have never been to the States at Christmas. We could not help but notice the lights. They were very easily outdone by natures own light show.
Great experienced talaga lalo na ni Max,na e exposed nature.Advantage din pag pareho kayo mahilig sa adventure/camping, at isa pa mayron din reliable vehicle na FWD.Nice filming and narrating Chris.
Such a great and beautiful land, thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure
