Debudding Goat Kids with the Express Inline Gas Dehorner
Today I will be showing you how I use the Express Inline Gas dehorner on Nigerian Dwarf Kids. I have many asking for a demo on this type of dehorner:) What I like is that this Dehorner is fueled by a butane/propane mix in a handy fuel cartridge that fits into the handle. There are No cords or bulky propane tanks required, and the assembled unit weighs just 2 pounds. The tip is thin and it has a faster and less painful burn compared to the Rhinehart X 30. This is my method of debudding/ disbudding and although I have many years' experience and some vet training, Disclaimer: I'm not a Licensed veterinarian. I'm just an experienced ADGA Plus Nigerian Dwarf Goat Breeder. I'm sharing my method which has worked many years successfully (20+) I have NEVER lost a kid due to disbudding and have never had a kid get an infected after either. Using 91% alcohol to clean is usually my go to. Just make sure to dry or let dry the alcohol before putting on the iron since it is very flammable. I hope to update the buck kids process once I get some more kids to disbud. I do not get scurs on any of my kids using this method. I hope you learn something new!
*Please note that the # of quick seconds the iron is on depends on your temperature your iron is set at. Example: If your gas is turned all the way up, to the highest point, it will be 2 seconds vs 5 seconds. Also depending on how old the kid is. Is the kid 3 days,6 days or two weeks old?! All factors will require you adjusting how long (seconds) it will take to get to the scull cleanly. Popping off the cap on the second pass and burning the horn bud top is a must with this disbudder to prevent scurs.
~Comments have been turned off due to disbudding debates. With show goats they must be disbudded to be shown. Kids are up running around after like nothing happened, nothing cruel about this process.
Thanks For Watching!

California King Snake VS Western Rattle Snake
มุมมอง 17K4 ปีที่แล้ว
It was a warm summer morning on my way out to the chicken coop to feed and water my chickens. I noticed a Western Rattle snake tail laying limp and thought that looks odd. Always in my tall boots with a snake grabber nearby I cautiously approached to see what was going on. To my surprise a small California king snake had the Western rattle snake by the front of his nose and was coiled many time...

Goat Scur -What to do when a scur comes off.
มุมมอง 2.5K6 ปีที่แล้ว
A goat scur is a small horn regrowth that grows in after dehorning. Goat Scurs are more common in bucks as many people do not know how to dehorn bucks properly. Scurs don't usually have a strong attachment like a regular horn and can be bumped off by the goats themselves. This is our Nigerian Dwarf Buck Malcolm Blue. He grows small scurs that eventually grow in towards his head. He rubs them on...

4 times the constricting power pound for pound as anything else. I'm not jealous. I'm not envious. Well sort of.

Great video! Thank you for the very helpful information. My lil lady goat, Winnifred, was improperly disbudded as a kid and had scurs growing on both sides. I didn't know they were called scurs until they started falling off! One side came off very cleanly, but the other was hanging on by a thread and was raw underneath, drawing flies to the wound. Needless to say, I am a new goat owner so I was freaking out! After watching this video and learning more about the issue, I was able to help her and get the wound cleaned up. During my cleaning of the wound, the second scur fell off (she was stressed and was fussing around a lot lol), but her wound is now clean and has a protectant spray and cream on it to keep dirt and bugs away. I feel so much better now. :)

"Still alive he's been held by the CA King for about 6 hours at this point." And that's just from the time you guys discovered them, who knows how long he was held before that. But really, how does the rattlesnake survive that long having its head and neck buried in those CA King coils and being squeezed and strangled? Man, snakes can really dish out and take punishment!

Thank you because you explained so much and calmed me right down. Duke Jackson has this "scur" I noticed it growing fast this past week. When I got him he already had been de-horned, now I know it was improperly done. Trouble is the scur broke off and is still attached. UPDATE: I poured hydrogen peroxide on it (he didn't seem to mind that at all) and in 15 min the entire scur came off. The area is red and I will keep it clean. I will update again if it does not heal quickly.

Upon going out to check the king had him half swallowed. Going back out to check he had finished the job and was back off up into the hills behind our property. You don’t want to disturb them much as they will spook and not get to eat their meal. Kings are notorious for eating other snakes. This if their job around here as we get many rattlers each year in our area. This isn’t the first time this king has swallowed a rattler just first time I filmed unfortunately at the time I didn’t plan on posting.... real video..... did happen.... all I got on film. I did verify him almost swallowed. No snakes at dusk so he finished the job & went in his way.

Lol if you’ve had any handling with these colubrids you would know it doesn’t matter the size of the rattler if the king snake is anywhere near an adult. they will squeeze it down and be fat until they can digest it completely which is why they usually hide afterwards since they are more vulnerable since they have sluggish movements when have a bigger meal in your stomach.

That Florida Realtor Hello, Make sure you get all the abscess out and flush with saline water. You can add iodine to the wash as well. You must keep the wound open to drain. If it closes it will refill. Yes, most abscesses do require an antibiotic. Bactrim or baytril are good choices. Good luck!👍🏻
