Great video! Thank you for the very helpful information. My lil lady goat, Winnifred, was improperly disbudded as a kid and had scurs growing on both sides. I didn't know they were called scurs until they started falling off! One side came off very cleanly, but the other was hanging on by a thread and was raw underneath, drawing flies to the wound. Needless to say, I am a new goat owner so I was freaking out! After watching this video and learning more about the issue, I was able to help her and get the wound cleaned up. During my cleaning of the wound, the second scur fell off (she was stressed and was fussing around a lot lol), but her wound is now clean and has a protectant spray and cream on it to keep dirt and bugs away. I feel so much better now. :)
Thank you because you explained so much and calmed me right down. Duke Jackson has this "scur" I noticed it growing fast this past week. When I got him he already had been de-horned, now I know it was improperly done. Trouble is the scur broke off and is still attached. UPDATE: I poured hydrogen peroxide on it (he didn't seem to mind that at all) and in 15 min the entire scur came off. The area is red and I will keep it clean. I will update again if it does not heal quickly.

My son's goat had this problem today. Thank you for the information on what to do. Your video was very informative.
By the way, your goat is just adorable!
