Toy Caps in Hip Howitzer
Slightly modified toy gun caps used in place of hard to find percussion caps in the Muzzle Loading Hip Howitzer, a single shot 54 caliber black powder pistol. Load was light, 30 grains of 3F Olde Eynsford under a patched ball. Everything worked perfectly.

Bought one on 12/9/23 and had to send it back to CZ USA on the same day for numerous issues. There's no way it should have passed QC or when test fired! CZ did fix it, but it won't be used as my EDC.

Welcome to the party, pal. It was quick, it wasn't very scientific, and it was fun.
That striker safety spring dislodges, remove firing pin assembly to fix. Its a very light spring.
Well, after 6 plus years of this being my every day carry gun, shot a thousand + rounds a year, and I've had no issues.
My edc is p10c, only issue I've had is bullet setback , sent to cz, they polished the feed ramp for me. Not one jam after 1000 rnds.

Ok...the biggest difference is really the grip angle. I qualify Expert or Distinguished Expert every year with the Glock, but I just don't like the way it fits me. The P-10 grip angle is perfect, and the gun just flat out works.
Speaking of 100% weight retention... Wouldn't hurt to hit the gym once in a while.

I can’t think of one pistol that someone hasn’t bashed on TH-cam. I own several of guns that someone else seems to have a problem with and I’ve never experienced any of those type failures
The so called problem was actually proactively "fixed" by CZ about 5 years ago. I do have to point out, the P-10C I show in the video STILL is my every day carry sidearm. Thank you for watching!
I’ve had two malfunctions with less than a 100 rounds with my cz p10c. Failed to feed. Using white box ammo.
First thing I have to say is I am not a gunsmith nor do I play one on TV. Second thing I'd say is Winchester White Box ammo has a WELL deserved reputation for being junk ammo, BUT, the P-10C should have handled it. I highly recommend calling CZ-USA Monday morning at 1-800-944-4486 and ask the gunsmith. Have you tried any other ammo, was the pistol cleaned and properly oiled prior to use, and didja hold yer mouth right?
But what about the plunger safety being too weak any thoughts on that guys
Well, lessee, with 5 P-10s in the last 6 years, I haven't had one fail yet, and the FDE P-10C is still my EDC without issue. So my thoughts are, nope, that's not correct.

Did you guys happen to test this ammo out of a p-01? My p-01 is picky about odd shaped bullets and I've had a few rounds have issues from the short chamber.
I shoot a p10c also set mine up with a optic. Great gun. We ran this drill at 36 yards I hit 10/10 with 4 in the “A” zone in under 12 seconds. Takes a lot of practice.
Good effort guys. I was an expert shooter in the military. For longer range shooting under stress conditions, "ladder up" your shots to account for stress firing where the shots go low due to jerking the trigger/bad grip etc. This will keep more of your shots on center mass even if you are really stressed out. Hope this helps
Thank you for the constructive reply. He had only tried drawing from concealment one time prior, so we have training and equipment holes to fill, that's for certain!

Yep - he has only drawn from concealment once prior to this attempt, so we exposed some huge holes to address. Changes coming in holster and more training from a couple of experts I know.

Been there done that! Lived in AZ for 13 years. Your stance, draw stroke and grip need a lot of work just to mention a few. The both of you would be dead in a real life situation. Before worrying about a 40 yard target try fine tuning your training at 7-10 yards. Consider it constructive criticism. Based your current skill set innocent people would have been hit.

@@charlesreeves3426 that is true and one thing we discussed when we viewed the videos that he was indeed covering his hand with his muzzle when drawing. So, he will be seeing a real high speed/low drag instructor soon.

They did count all hits on the body, but you are not taken into account the situation he was in. Shooting a static target on a flat range is not comparable.

No kidding, I would never have thunk it. This is called the Eli Drill, not the lets go out and shoot up a food court so we can get the whole experience. Also, I did not come up with this Drill, it was invented on AR15.com, and I was merely showing us trying to do it so the keyboard commandos can boast of how much better they are. ;) It would probably be better done on a two way range with Simunitions, but I just can't afford that this year, maybe next.

The one thing I could see on your son’s shooting that he definitely needs to fix was his grip. I couldn’t tell so much on yours as the camera angle was behind you, but your recoil control looked far better. Grip is the most important basic for shooting, because without a solid grip your rounds won’t be consistent and it takes longer to get your sights back on target. I noticed his right hand was coming off the grip each time he fired because he didn’t have it held properly, which also led to how much the gun was flipping up. Have him get the dominant hand as high & tight on the beaver tail & his non dominant hand under it to where his thumbs are on top of each other with the thumb on the non dominate hand should be just below the slide and down far enough that it should reach out to about the middle of the trigger guard. Master the grip and the trigger pull & those groupings will start getting tighter! But remember, grip is the master, sights set the pace, and the trigger is the servant! Keep up the good work of practicing and hammer home those basics before worrying about the distance at which you shoot. I look forward to seeing more of your videos to see the improvements made!
My son definitely needs work, and I am getting with a buddy of mine who is a Dept instructor and can help out.
@@armoredman we can all improve each & every time we go out & practice. One thing about shooting is it’s very easy for skills to get rusty quickly if you’re not putting in frequency on the range. But it’s awesome to see a father teaching his son! My daughter is only 5 so I have a few more years before I’ll actually take her out to start learning, but I do let her help me clean my guns (after they are broken down) after I get home from the range. It allows me to teach her about firearm safety & that guns aren’t toys. I find it better to be open & teach her at an early age because it takes the curiosity away & instills the importance of why she’s never to touch them unless it’s with me around. Parents that own guns & don’t teach their kids leave themselves vulnerable to if they accidentally find one in the house or at a friends house. Because in their minds they think they are toys & don’t under stand the danger of them. Keep up they great father son lessons & training!

Children 8 to 17 are welcome, and there is probably a 4H shooting club in your area, pistol, rifle, archery, shotgun or even muzzle loader. From what I understand is that Eli started at 40 yards, pushed a few people off to the side and told them to get down and retreat. From there he advanced roughly 10 yards and began shooting. All that was done in 15 seconds. So, the actual shooting distance was 30 yards.
Evan Marshal stated it was 43 yards and then closing. As this was an open range, (anyone could have showed up next to us at any time), we kept it static, not dynamic.
My understanding is the Eli braced on a post. Maybe the drill should include that?

@@andrewtanczyk4009 Yes and no - the Drill that has swept through the gun world started off without the brace, plus...any damn thing I leaned against out there would have been hot enough to burn.
It turns out my son's holster is REALLY tight, which we never really knew because he never drew under pressure. Now to find a new rig. On the other hand when he did take his time, he still hit 9 out of 10 at 40 yards with a SUBcompact pistol.
What kind of holster? Kydex?
Stealth gear is a good hybrid holster
@@andrewtanczyk4009 yes, the only one we could find at that time, the Muddy River tactical OWB, had no tensioning screw. Looking for an alternative.

The P10-C has been tested, tortured and used probably more than any other since it came out in 2017, i have mine for 3 years its my duty gun, i also practice with it at the range, i shot over 20k, I've never had a single malfunction.
Duty gun and only 2k over 3 years? Yikes.

I keep hitting what I aim at, so I guess I'm doing just fine. I seem to be a better shot than a lot of people, so I don't worry to much, keep scoring Expert or Distinguished Expert in my organization. ;)I will say I have been shooting with a coach and extremely experienced instructor while training to be a 4H coach, so perhaps some of it has rubbed off on me.

I just bought mine last weekend and it did jam up already. Hard jam. Had to hold slide in left hand and slam the frame with my right.
What ammo? How many rounds fired? Did it do it more than once?
@@armoredman mag tech 115gr. Only did it once and I have just @ 250 rounds through it so far. That day I had shot about 2 or 3 mags worth when it happened. Had not cleaned or oil anything, out the box condition.
Do you prefer this to the 10C? Did you replace this as your EDC? Also what's the difference between this and the 10C? I've been doing a lot of research, and I'm I've been leaning towards the 10C. But I don't know much about guns.
The S model became a part of my carry, in that if I have to use a smaller gun I can carry it and feel perfectly comfortable with it. I prefer the larger C for the few extra rounds and better grip, but I have been know to put on the High Noon SLide Guard rig for the S and walk out the door. My son liked it so much that he know has an olive drab version of his very own. The differences are all in size. The S carries 12 rounds to the C 15, the barrel is shorter, the frame is shorter. Even so I can shoot this baby just like her bigger brother. The questions start, for you, will you carry concealed or openly, and have you looked at what type of holster you want? I recommend High Noon in Florida.
@@armoredman I want to carry concealed. I have completely fallen in love with the C. Great gun. Even though the S is smaller, would I still be able to completely conceal the C without there being a print? Thanks for the reply.
@@TheMidnightMaroon Of course but you have to dress around the gun. I carry in a High Noon Stingray OWB rig, but I wear oversize baggy t-shirts with designs to break up the outline. I'm old - I don't care what I look like. :) Also, in Arizona if my concealed carry pistol becomes visible, it's no big deal, still perfectly legal. Find a holster you like and then get the KEY ingredient - a solid GUN BELT. High Noon makes the Rock Steady, wearing one right now. As for carrying a larger gun - I carried a full sized CZ SP-10 Phantom concealed for several years with a High Noon Down Under IWB rig. Note the trend...:) Find what works for you but remember the holster and belt have to work together, and you will have to modify your dress AND habits to work around it - u.e., not bending over at the waist to pick up that dropped thing, squat down and tell people you have an old back injury. ;)

@@TheMidnightMaroon It's not hopeless yet - check out the IWB rig Down Under from High Noon - I carried a CZ SP-01 Phantom concealed during AZ summers without issue.
Outssstanding! Glock fan-boys cannot accept the fact that CZ pistols have all the parts Glock lacks of from the factory, and Glock owners have to add up in parts, resulting in a more expensive pistol. The fact is, CZ handguns excel! Albeit Glock fans refuse to believe it. I own the P10-F and P10-C suppressor-ready; unblemished, nothing but praises from my personal experience.
Outside of the factory, we’ve also employed the services of an NIJ-certified independent third party to perform testing to the P-10 platform in accordance with NIJ-STD-0112.03, Autoloading Pistols. During this outside testing, P-10s of various configurations/models were subjected to extremes of temperature and environment like sand, salt water immersion and more. Another aspect was extensive rough handling and drop tests. In those tests the P-10 performed as we knew it would - experiencing no failures. The main safety systems, as you’ve mentioned in your write-up, are the trigger safety and the drop safety. Both of these mechanical safeties work to prevent the P-10 from firing without the trigger being pulled. The safety in question is a third safety, known as the ‘automatic safety.’ For the automatic safety to ever need to be employed, either the firing pin, the sear surface of the trigger bar, the trigger bar spring pin or the frame itself would have to fail. In the incredibly rare instance of one of these items failing, the role of the automatic safety is to reduce the chance of the firing pin igniting a chambered round, adding a third layer to the robust safety system within the P-10. There are many factors present in the 'testing' in question that are not able to be present in the P-10 during use in its assembled form. First and foremost, the firing pin travel exhibited in videos of these ‘tests’ is far greater than the maximum firing pin travel reached during the normal cocking/firing sequence (to the tune of 1.5x, resulting in a corresponding increase in inertia within the firing pin). Realistically and in the worst case scenario, were a failure to happen the firing pin would be falling from its pre-cocked position with far less force, allowing the automatic safety to retard its forward travel. When in the pre-cocked position, the firing pin still has 3.5mm to travel before achieving its full travel and being released by the trigger bar. A major factor in all of this is that the designers of the P-10 intended this tertiary safety to function once and as a last resort were a parts failure to have occurred, envisioning it much like an airbag in a car. During normal use of the firearm, the automatic safety never impacts the corresponding shoulder on the firing pin. As such, when called upon those two engagement surfaces are able to make positive contact, hampering the firing pin's forward progress. Subjecting the system to non-standard testing such as this will in no question create undue wear to those engagement surfaces, and the more times the test is repeated, the less chance the automatic safety will be able to perform its function in the rare instance it were needed. Fully withdrawing the firing pin to that overdrawn position will exacerbate this greatly. Like in other instances where faulty information on the internet has led folks to perform ill-advised 'testing' that ends up damaging guns
Please note this video was done in 2017 and in response to a video "test" where he said it would cause an issue. Also, you said, "The main safety systems, as you’ve mentioned in your write-up, are the trigger safety and the drop safety. Both of these mechanical safeties work to prevent the P-10 from firing without the trigger being pulled." I never once mentioned either one of these safeties. Please have the common courtesy of WATCHING the video before thinking that ME, of all people, would be attacking CZ. I've been running czfirearms.us, the Original CZ Forum for well over ten YEARS now.

You probably missed the thing that got this started way back in 2017, when a guy claimed the CZ P-10C had a fatal flaw in that the slide would hang up on the striker when it rotated in it's channel. It was utter BS and I proved here that even if it had happened, it was an easily correctable thing. The other thing is not long after I made this video, the company changed the design slightly to stop the striker from rotating at all. So a non issue became an even more non issue.

I want to try this 180 grain 9mm ammo out on Wild Boar with my Ruger pc Carbine 9mm.I have had good results on Wild Boar with 124 & 147 FMJ flat points at 50 -74 yards dropping the Boar in it's tracks.
I don't know if the maker is still around - the nes I had left I donated to a gent wanting to do testing on it as well.
