very helpful
Thank you so much. Jan-09-2025
You're very welcome.
Seeing the notation how to know which fret to play???
The composer will specify which frets to play if it's important, otherwise the musician will decide which frets to use.
@@yourguitarscore4601 Thanks...
How to write notation for different positions.. like second or fifth position???
I'll consider that for a future video.
Fantastic, it works pretty well. Thank you so much for your help!
Only a pleasure!
is there a way for it to automatically add the chord names above notated chords?? I type in my chords with a midi keyboard but going back in to go lead sheet notes takes so long especially when there are like 3 chords per bar???
As far as I'm aware, MS4 doesn't have that functionality, however, you could try installing a plugin that may achieve what you're looking for: musescore.org/en/project/chord-identifier-pop-jazz.
@yourguitarscore4601 thankyou so much I'll definitely give it a go
thank you
You're welcome 👍
I cannot move the arrow on top of the slash. Seems like the distance between an arrow and slash is locked. Is there a setting to allow free dragging of an arpeggio?
unfortunately, I can't see a setting for that, mine is just moveable automatically?
How to highlight the notes instead of that bar running?😢😢😢
I'm sorry, but I don't know how to do that.
I have a problem that when I use an 8 string guitar, it won't play lower than C2 even though I've changed the pitch to an A#1. Same with every string that's tuned lower than C2. It can do tunings lower than standard but once it goes lower than C2, no sound plays. This makes the open and first few frets play no sound. Why does it do that?
I'm not sure? I've never played an 8 string guitar, but shouldn't the strings be: F# B E A D G B E? I'm trying to work out where the A# comes in?
@@yourguitarscore4601Its tuned down a half step. I think I figured it out though. The vst I was using didn't have samples lower than C2, so it couldn't play the notes lower.
@@LattimoreNatalie OK, so you really like that low end :-). That would probably explain it-glad you were able to figure it out there.
Hi , I can't work out how to make the sharp symbol . Each time I am writing out ' sharp' which is really long. Also how to write a flat symbol would be useful too. Thanks
The sharp is simply a hashtag (#) on your keyboard, and a flat is a lower case 'b'.
do you know how to make it automatically uncheck the "play" button in the properties tab? it's tiresome for me trying to add chord symbols just for guidance. p.s. i have no problem with the length of your videos, it gives me a minute of peace before getting back to my infinitely accelerating rolling evening. i recommend for people who do not want peace to place their playback speed to 1.5x, 1.75x or even 2x if you're a sicko
Haha thanks my friend. There doesn't seem to be such a universal function from what I can tell, however, you can right click on the first chord of your score, click on 'select', then 'similar'. This'll highlight all chords in your score. Once they're all highlighted then you can uncheck the play box in the left sidebar and all the chords will be muted. P.S. You have a great voice, keep going brother!
omg you are the lifesaver!!!(This is the only video I could find on youtube that teaches this!!)
Always a pleasure-glad I could help!
This is most useful! Thanks!
You're very welcome!
thanks for the tutorial
You're most welcome.
Thanks! But start the video at :50 in and would be much more helpful! You could cut the video in half and just show the subject without the verbiage. Also, I came here looking for the trick to quickly adding multiple chords. That is SPACE BAR. After you've entered the first chord, space bar takes you to the next beat. Keep tapping the space bar until you get to the place you want to add the next chord. You should include that if you make another video! Again, not to be critical, thank you very much for adding this and other videos!
You're welcome
@dannyguitar5406 check out a concept called the wadsworth constant
3 minutes, you write 2 chords, if no notes, no chords,
good job!
Thank you!
Once I have the tab correct, I'd like to "save as" and write another chart of the same song with just chords (without the TAB lines)...is that possible? Thank you
I'm sure it's possible. I would just do as you said: save as, and then change only the parts you want to be different on the 2nd version?
Thank you so much!!! 😊
Only a pleasure!
1:00 text-stave text-write swing-right click-stave text properties
Thanks. Just what I was looking for. Appreciated.
Always glad to hear I could help.
did you have to input the notes for standard notation or can the software do it automatically once you've put the tab in?
The software will do it automatically, but you still have to input the correct rhythmic values in the tab. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you so much sir ❤
You're welcome my friend!
Thanks for this video - Can the diagrams that you create be saved to some type of master library so that they can be reused in other songs, i.e. so that I don't need to keep recreating the same diagrams over and over?
To be honest, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else in the comments knows the answer to this? If so share your knowledge :-). If I can find the answer, I'll let you know.
@@yourguitarscore4601Thank you. I haven't used the program but all I was able to find in the docs is that the diagrams could be saved to the palette which is hardly any kind of useful library. Another thought I had was perhaps being able to insert the diagrams into a project file in some type of organized manner, and copy from there into the project I'm working on, but that's more of a workaround and I don't even know if it's possible. But yes, please let me know if you find anything in the program that allows for it.
Thank you! Precisely what I was looking for!!! You made my day!
You are most welcome!
This shouldn't be so hard 😭
Thx! In the newest version as of 7/11/24 you may need to go to Palettes -> Add Palettes -> Fretboard diagrams
Thanks ❤
Can this be done on sibelius?
To obe honest, I don't know-I have never used Sibelius. Maybe someone else in the comments section will be able to answer this?
I looked for so long to find how to use notation software that can playback swing feel. I use Crescendo which is paid for, charges you almost as much again for each update and the kicker, CAN'T PLAY SWING FEEL!! I'm getting Musescore today and THANK YOU, you're my hero!!
Oh, I do have Guitar Pro 8 , which is great for guitars but not so good for piano/keys, it's excellent though.
Great, always good to hear a success story! You're most welcome 👍
Merci

how about harmonics? how to put the N.H. and A.H. line and make it play?
Thanks for the suggestion. I have done a video on natural harmonics (th-cam.com/video/3rpSbcuYLCI/w-d-xo.html), but not artificial harmonics. Unfortunately the playback for guitar annotations is still a little lacking in MuseScore 4. Stuff like slides, hammers/pulls, harmonics etc. I haven't been abke to get the harmonics to sound like proper harmonics (they sound a little more like a synth).
Thanks for this! Are you South African? I think I can hear it a bit in your voice :D
Haha, yes I am. Despite all of our troubles, I am still proudly South African :-)
How to make my musescore sound to be like your musescore sound when you play the tabs?
Give this tutorial a watch, you should find it very helpful: th-cam.com/video/8OxNvpD5iew/w-d-xo.html.
How do you get sharps and flats on chord symbols?
For a sharp you use a hashtag (#), for a flat you use a lower case b.
How can I add guitar bend?
@daniwest1370 I'll have to do a video on that.
@@yourguitarscore4601 Hi, could you share the link to the video on how to insert the bends?
@@fabiooliveiramusic I haven't done a vid on that yet, simply because Musescore 4 leaves a lot to be desired in that department. Unfortunately, it's still missing a lot of functionality.
