2010–2023 Lexus GX 460: A Complete Reliability Guide
The second generation Lexus GX 460 was produced from 2009 to 2023. Despite undergoing two facelifts, the premium SUV only experienced external changes, while the main components such as the 1UR-FE engine and the A760F transmission remained unchanged throughout all these years. In this video review, we will discuss the reliability of the key components, including its Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) and electronics, as well as the problems of the 2nd-gen Lexus GX J150. We will find out whether it is worth buying a Lexus GX 460 in 2024. We will also answer questions about the reliability of the Lexus GX 460's suspension components and its off-road capabilities. Additionally, we will explore real fuel consumption (gas mileage) real MPG, acceleration 0-60, and durability based on the experience of current owners.

How Reliable is The Ford Fusion(2012-2020)?All the weak and strong points
มุมมอง 28K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
The second generation Ford Fusion, produced from 2012 to 2020, became an extremely popular sedan, competing with such well-known models as the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. But how reliable is it? Unfortunately, not all engines in the Ford Fusion lineup are equally durable. The 1.6 Ecoboost engine turned out to be problematic and was replaced by the more reliable 1.5 Ecoboost. Additionally, th...

มุมมอง 67K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Nissan Patrol/Armada Y62 has been in production since 2010, and updates have been limited to facelifts only. Initially, the Patrol was offered with two engine options: the 5.6 L VK56DE and VK56VD. However, in the latest facelift, the version with distributed injection was removed, and instead, a 4.0 L VQ40DE V6 engine was introduced (for the UAE market). The transmission remains unchanged, ...

How Reliable is the New 2024 Toyota Tacoma? Bye forever, durable naturally aspirated engines.
มุมมอง 36K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Toyota is deviating from its traditions, and reliable naturally aspirated engines on the new 2024 Fourth generation Tacoma are now a thing of the past. In their place comes the new turbocharged 2.4L T24A-FTS turbo I4 (TZNA40/41/45/46), along with a hybrid version, the 2.4L T24A-FTS turbo I4 (TZNH47). The question arises: how will this impact the reliability of a model that has been the epitome ...

Reliable Chevy? Assessing the Durability of the New Chevrolet Traverse 2024. Despite not getting much information about the new 2.5 LK0 engine at the third-generation Traverse presentation, it represents a part of GM's new family of turbocharged engines. So, we already know that the 2.5 LK0 will be a downsized version of the 2.7 L3B, and there's a lot to discuss here. We'll also explore the sim...
I was looking at the GX550... but the obscene cost, the turbo v6 being more complex, requiring premium and having similar fuel economy, and already being recalled in mass... I'm thinking of going for the GX460 with the bullet v8 that some people are getting over 1 million miles on.
Need to re watch. Some much good info.
I bought a 2023 Gx, last of the V8’s. Averaging 6k miles a year I plan to keep it forever.
The best engine for this car is the 2.5 in line 4 cylinder. They never should have discontinued it. My 2010 Fusion has 183,000 miles on it. Don’t listen to the dealer when they tell that you never have to change the transmission fluid. They just want you to buy another car. 😀😀😀😀
nicely done
I just bought a 2017 ford fusion se 1.5l from the dealer in August, engine had all these issues after only 2 months. The car had 102,000 miles when i bought it. I wouldnt have gotten it if i knew about these issues. So right now its currently december and im getting a new engine right now. Thankfully i got a warranty on the car when i bought it and am making small payments. New engine is going to have 40k miles so i should be good. Its a shame because i like the car but man this engine is ass. First car too so i didnt know much next car i get will be better.
yeah man those 1.5 are too weak 🤦🏻♂️
2015 ford Fusion 1.5 engine. By far one of the best cars just have to keep up with regular maintenance. 202k miles on it and still driving. Oil changes are important and A MUST. If you have an issue on this car and have the time and knowledge to fix it yourself. DO IT YOURSELF. We in December 2024.
hello! 202k miles and the same engine??
Can you make a video on the 6.2 boss?
It's an interesting engine but unfortunately not in my list yet, I'll try in the future 👍🏻
I still have my 2014 Ford Fusion w/ a 2.5 Litre 4 cylinder engine.. 195,000 miles and Counting.. and Maan.. No complaints here.. Other than some Recall Repairs that are normal with any USA Car.. And Normal Maintenance.. This car has been a Warrior
Great choice 👍🏻 thx for your comment!
The only issue is with the Torque Converter….
I think emissions are the least of the owners thoughts
Great video, I have 23 GX460 and hope to keep it for many years. I do regular maintenance. So, a few things: If I understand from your video, the 1UR-FE can take higher viscosity oil 5w-20, as pointed out in the Russian GX manual, and can take 87 octane without decreasing its reliability or longevity. Which Tundra years use this engine, and is it the same engine? The Transmission replacement is expensive, so besides changing the transmission fluid every 30k? is it wise to install a Trans cooler. I don't do any heavy work or towing.
As someone who had to mind one of these for my dad all I'll say is avoid them. The cars they're fitted to are lovely in many ways but that engine is not a good one. Ours popped the head gasket. Mazda recommended replacing the whole engine at a cost of 10,000 euros and throw at least 2000 on that for labour. So we just put a bottle of that magical head gasket in a bottle stuff into it which lasted almost a year before leaking again, so a second bottle was added and served the engine til the end of its useful life just over a year after the first incident. Around that time the fuel system and injector seals had started to give trouble which caused near enough to a full 5 liters of raw diesel being dumped into the engine in the space of about 30km. The oil was changed and injectors tightened down which slowed down the problem a lot but didn't cure it. I was going at the injectors to do the seals to try get a little while more out of it but found injector 4 to be stuck solid into the head. My dad at this stage decided to just park it up altogether although it did drive for another week leaking less diesel into the sump. Eventually this just went back to dumping loads of diesel into the sump so he parked it for good. For 2ish years before this bother we had been battling dpf trouble which I sorted with a can of dpf cleaner and a decent sized bucket. The thing kept blocking due to driving it handy with the blown head gasket. Problems didn't end there, the exhaust cam shaft had started to wear but it was still running so we kept driving it for another while. For a finish, with a combination of everything above that engine had developed an occasional and very noticeable misfire. It had also developed a low oil pressure Problem near to the end of its life when cold. For 100 euros in total for the head gasket sealer and only pocket money for injector seals we got another year of driving out of it. The rest of the car never gave trouble in fairness. And was always very nice to drive. As a passenger I found it to be nice too. Just a shame the engine was such a boat anchor. 141,832km final odometer reading before it was taken away. Having said that the 2 liter and 2.5 liter petrol engines are ment to be good in these so don't let the terrible legacy of the 2.2 diesel taint your opinion of mazda
Have this car, every day thinking about selling due to enormous vibration from cylinder deactivation technology by Mazda. It started after 51000 km…. Now driving on road about 60-70km/h is always torture. Such a shame
We just bought a 2020 fusion se with the 1.5l ecoboost engine. Now I am a bit worried. Car has 64k miles but still has limited warranty on the drivetrain for another ~2 years
The coolant thing happened to my 18 fusion around 64k miles. My warranty covered full replacement. Once they put the 19 model engine in it’s been solid. General Message of this video: CHANGE YOUR OIL for your engines to last.
GX 550 is not much more fuel efficient and more complex and smaller turbocharged engine. Reliability questionable.
Couldn't care less about outdated aesthetics. If it ain't broke, don't fix the damn thing
own a 2017 with the 2.0t, bought it with 95k and approaching 120k miles, no major issues so far except purge valve, but the constant worry about coolant intrusion has made me not enjoy the car as much, add that I average 24.5 mpg, I should've been more patient and went with a hybrid model
Recalls start with the 2014 model
I have the 2013 fusion hybrid. Now needs a steering column... Does anyone have this issue? The steering wheel is not straight!!!
Damn boy. Not true
Any modern car is going to be good as long as it doesn't have one of these low-displacement turbo engines. No matter the manufacturer, they appear to be failing prematurely across the board. The 2.5L Duratec is a very good engine.
I found a brand new unused 2023 Traverse with tne V6. I Believe that's the last version of the V6 and it's selling for $47k Canadian... which is a significant sale and I am seriously considering it, cause I don't trust Turbo 4 Cylinders. Any recommendations? Good idea? Go for a 2025? I don't care about large screens
it's a pretty good engine and a car for this price 👍🏻
I have a 2014 Fusion with the 1.5. 120k miles. I've had it for just about four years now and it hasn't been too bad. But I suspect the coolant leak of death may finally be catching up. Mazda, here I come.
My mom got 2020 traverse red line and they use it on farm that vehicle was abuse got over 130k mileage and got oil change 4 times i was the one who youtube and oil change it the 4th time because i know that oil probably running 40k lol but that vehicle never had a single problem at all a real bullet proof
that's really cool to hear! engine 3.6?
Vk56
I love my 23 CX-30 zippy and stylish comfortable riding suv , best vehicle I have bought .
TL;DR: get the 2.5L or hybrid. Change motor oil and transmission fluid more frequently
I bought a new 2024 cx5. It does not have the cylinder deactivation or the I stop lame functions.. i believe both of those ridiculous features with no doubt cause excessive carbon buildup Especially the CD. The computer is constantly shutting down 2 cylinders on a 4 cylinder engine. On and off on and off. So what Happens to all that oil just laying around during shutdown....slides right past the piston oil rings and builds up in the cylinder just to name a few problems like spark plug fouling. My friend bought the 2023 with CD and the difference of how the engine runs and performs is night and day. Mine runs soooo smooth with noticeable quick acceleration and at idle you cant feel one little miss and it is running not like the I stop version. So buy a 2024 model with a vin with an L IN THE 8TH spot on the vin Id. Or ask the stupid sales person who wont know what you are talking about.
which engine and transmission is better mazda cx5 natural aspirated or toyota rav4 natural aspirated please respond.
Don't skimp on fuel . My 2012 needs a new bank 2 catalytic converter. Too much cheap gas will now cost me $2800 for a new CC. Other than that HUGE fix that I've been putting off for almost two years , the truck is running great at 167k miles.
We had a 2015 and it was a real Turd. Traded it on on a 2020 Camry. Had nothing but problems with it. At 22k miles it had a cracked cylinder head in 3 places left us stranded. Then it never ran as good after warranty repair then all kinds of knick picky things went wrong you could no longer hook your phone up to it a part went bad in the radio FORD wanted $600 to fix. At 55k miles it had misfires and I finally said to hell with it. The 2020 Camry has been 100% better not one problem and we have had it 4 years now. What is worse ours had the supposedly bullet proof 2.5l engine. Not too bullet proof in our case and Ford would not warranty the repair they made. I will never give Ford another dime they can go out of business for all I care! We maintained it well too. Serviced transmission at 45k miles and stayed on the oil changes. Ford says the cracked head was a forge issue that got past the 3rd party that made them and Fords quality control so I guess we got one of those where quality was not job 1.
Just bought ford fusion hybrid 2016 SE 46k mileage. It took the vehicle 13 gallons for 400 miles which is equivalent to 31 mpg. Honestly, I am disappointed
i’m currently looking to get one . what years and models should i avoid ???
at the end of the video you mention the best version would be the 2.5 fwd is that the best option ? if so what year were you talking about ? thanks for you time
what about the 2.7 twin turbo v6?
2.5 fwd is a very good choice 👍🏻 choose last years of the model
@@thelonglastexpert my bad but what years would those be ? yvan’s for the help again
Wait 5 years then talk about reliability.
I'm looking at a 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid are the transmissions in them any good or are they the same
Please do Toyota/Lexus 5.7L engine next
This is a really informative video. I’m looking into possibly buying a 2013+ Fusion and had been looking at YT videos of Fusions. YT algorithm recommended this video and I’m glad for it. Subscribed.
Should I feel bad for trading my gx460 for the 24 trd pro 4Runner ?
new 4Runner has the same platform as 24 Tacoma. Video about 24 Tacoma already on the channel, it should help you with your choice 👍🏻
Great video, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Why does the heated seats doesn't work
I own a 2015 Fusion SE Hybrid,. It has been a wonderful car. No mechanical issues
How many miles does it have now thinking about buying a 2020
Great info. Thank you!! Just hit 180k NYC miles in my 2011 GX. Occasional highway but majorly city. I accelerate hard often/always and now I know why my transmissions reverse gear failed at 160k miles. Had to replace the whole transmission and my LEXUS dealer offered zero advice or comments as to why. He only said it was “old” lol. My engine is as strong as new. Maybe stronger after years of my Italian tune ups. I drove the dealers 2023GX with only 5kmiles on it while my transmission was being replaced. I was astonished and quite pleased how similar my car old felt to the new one. Mine definitely felt better in the city as I have a MagnaFlow exhaust and OME suspension and 33” BFGs. Our roads are horrible. and my aftermarket suspension and tires really smooth out the ride. Appreciate all the advice especially as I approach 250k. Gotta change that timing chain when I get there. Thanks again!
It may be helpful to get re-geared, 33" tires are usually the limit for a stock transmission. Larger tires are harder on automatic transmissions in city traffic, a re-gear will help to ease the wear on the transmission.
@@Connor-ji5nn perhaps, but that seems a bit expensive for just “33’s” that are actually 32.7”, only 2” aprox over stock and thankfully no noticeable loss in acceleration and torque by my seat of the pants computer analysis. Also the transmission was on stock tires for over 120k miles. Unfortunately my next expense is going to be that damn valley plate gasket. I’m putting 1 gallon of coolant a week in my radiator now after years of keeping a close eye on it and having to add only about 1 gallon every few months, for the last 5 years. Thanks for the advice!
Great to know you got 180K on NYC roads; I have a 23 GX460, so hopefully, it will be long before I have any major issues. Can you tell us the cost of the new transmission from Lexus?
Hopefully yours won’t ever fail. I’m told I drive like Kojak. Lexus charged me $9,700 or 2,425 NY slices 🍕. They gave me a ‘23 GX loaner with only 4k miles and remarkably the only noticeable difference from my ‘11 was a slightly higher break pedal. Mine still feels just as solid in every other aspect. You’ll be good for years to come!
@@Damienvizuete I am hoping you are right. live in the Tri-state, so I have similar road conditions, but it is built solid, so I am not too worried about that, mainly the valley plate and transmission. Wow, $9700 that's what worries me dam expensive for trans. I assume 1/2 is labor since the reman Trans on Lexus online runs $3-4k. I had 4R, and those powertrains v6/5spd seem less prone to failure, but GX, hands down, is the nicer ride.
I also recommend High Calcium High ZDDP oil. Like liqui molly specialtec f 5w30 with oil change intervals of 8-10,000kms. Mazda genuine oil as tested follows older ford specs even in their newest engines. 180,000kms, no scoring or oil consumption at all.
Owner of a 2013 fusion here, man what a quality video, was thinking of buying a newer model fusion and this helps a ton, keep up the great work
thank you man👍🏻 any experience that you can share about your fusion?
WOW, the depth of the analysis in this video and how concise it is, is amazing to see. So well put together, excellent job! Thanks for making this video, very useful.
happy that it was useful for you man👍🏻
Switch to 5w30 after 60,000 miles.
Why? 🤔
New Gx 550 overtrail uses ekdds step up on the older kdds
I wish the previous generations were included. Was still a very good and informative video.
thank you man!
