Watering peanuts, the old fashioned way!
มุมมอง 5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we decided to have some fun and pull out an old traveler and an old pump motor, and water some peanuts. This used to be one of my favorite activities as a kid and it's been a while since they have run. Hearing that old motor fire up and run makes my hair stand up. Farming is a lifestyle, not a job.
Planting season is Whooping us! (Finishing 2024 Peanuts)
มุมมอง 1.2K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Thankful to the good lord above for a successful planting season so far. I know we are all pretty busy this time of year but we never need to forget to be safe. Farming is dangerous! Now that all 400 acres of corn and 750 acres of peanuts are in the ground, it's time to start on cotton. Thanks for watching!

Well we have been extremely busy trying to get some peanut seed in the ground. Thankful that everything is going smoothly so far and for the rain we’ve gotten recently. I hope everyone else’s planting season has been going smooth and everyone has been safe. This turbo-till has been a critical part of our operation this year, not sure how we would’ve done it without it. The ripper roller has als...
Trying out a New Toy! (Ripper Roller)
มุมมอง 2.8K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
We got the opportunity to try out a tool that we have been wanting to try for a while now…a ripper roller. This thing hasn’t disappointed. Although it did struggle with the grass to begin with, after we figured out what it could do it’s working wonderfully. Peanuts will be going in the ground soon so everyone stay tuned for that. I have high hopes for this year and plan on keeping the content r...

Thankfully I caught the tail end of the travellers on our farm. I'd say around 2002 is when the last one bit the dust and hasn't been used since.
We still enjoy it from time to time but there’s no doubt a pivot is the way to go!
The memories shared about the pump earned my subscription. As I’ve gotten older I have tried to pass down “stuff” and a little knowledge of the older ways but the younger ones here just don’t seem to care. Glad to see you out there keeping the old pieces going, at least every once in a while!
Also thought that was an LA accent, north central Alabama here.
What size hose is that you're using, and how long is it to run from the irrigation pump to the traveler?
Field has underground irrigation but from the irrigation riser to the traveler there’s 660 feet of 4 inch hose
@@HighCottonYT ok
That bring memories of the 70s, when I grew tobacco.

I wish I was bouncing over stumps to get paid I'm in the trenches doing sewer and water just to save up for more land to grow food my grandparents were farmers but they wanted to build on the land so up'd the property taxes and took the land and now there's a bunch of houses on so I'm trying to build it all back
And ya we ain't got nothing given to us

How about all the medical degrees for the Indians (India). Yup, I believe it's under US Cares or some such. The participants get visas to go to school and do their internship then go home. Don't feel so bad though because there's us out in YT land paying our bills and taxes on less money than you spent on fuel during the last 3 months. It's tough for you and me while the crooks in the Ivory towers live off our sweat and blood. Be safe out there and enjoy your adventures.
Agreed. Thanks for the comment!
