5 Things Wisdom Teaches You | Simple Retirement Living
There are so many things you learn as you age - I believe they call that wisdom.
1) You learn not to fall into the trap where you feel you have to keep up with the Joneses. That is nothing but a rat race. Chasing after things
2) You learn to be content with the simple things in life.
3) You learn to live a grateful life where you appreciate all that you have been blessed with.
4) You learn that life is just a vapor. You can’t believe you are retirement age and how fast you got there.
5) You learn that less is more; less possessions, less stress, less yard work, less upkeep, etc.
We believe a simple retired life is the best.
Thanks for joining us for Coffee Talk today ☕️

Today we talk about the three legs of the retirement stool. These are the three sources of funding for retired life. 1) Social Security is one leg of the stool. Not many people receive pensions any more so if you don't receive a pe...

Diamond Caverns is located in Cave City, Kentucky, just 8 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park. The cave was discovered when a slave saw a hole in the valley and saw the cave entrance. The next day an exploration party descended down a rope to enter the cave and explore what they found. The first person down saw calcite which looked like diamonds sparkling in the candlelight. It turned out not...

Stonehenge In Kentucky? | Kentucky’s Hidden Gem
มุมมอง 2K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
What looks like an ancient piece of history in the small town of Munfordville is actually the masterpiece of a local rock collector. It may not be a corn field, but Kentucky Stonehenge is a ‘field of dreams’ created by former Munfordville Mayor Chester Fryer. One of Chester’s daughters, Missy Fryer recalled the story her mom told at her dad’s funeral. “He said that God had spoke to him and told...

Pearl also enjoys seeing nice creeks on the trail. That trail looks a bit tricky. Pearl loves Dateline, then I start watching and get stuck watching wanting to know who did it. Great falls. We like to pack a lunch and eat at the falls when we hike in.
It was a great but challenging hike! Thanks for coming along! 😊
Ohh nooo im so sorry
Thankfully all is well 👍
Ouch! 😮 Stay safe girl.
Still have bruises but all is well! 👍
Oh that’s awful 😢. I hope you’re ok? I really feel for you. Praying you’re ok and not too hurt . Sending love, Michelle Xx 🌹❤️
Bruises and scrapes but nothing serious 👍
@@RetiredLovingIt I’m glad your ok 💛
Ouch well it happens to me also
Still nursing my wound & bruises 😅🤷♀️
If we don’t carry bumps and bruises, a few scars we haven’t taken advantage of life. Always get out there see what you want because the laughter and enjoyment is worth it all.
Totally agree! We’re all about living life!
I just knew this was a rib joint
They have a wide variety of items on their menu. It is one of our favorite places to eat!
. I was asked would I rather work and live a life of luxury or retire and live a simple life. I think the look on my face answered the question lol. As you get older the things you worked so hard to get when you were younger you get rid of and downsized from the big house to a cozy little house. We like being retired more than things
So true! Things don’t mean much as we age.
Going up is hard but the view is so worth it. We love hiking and waterfalls. You guys did great!1
Thanks! It was a fun day! 😊
nice one & thumbs up 👍💪💥
Thanks 😊
Love the choices that made your list ~ couldn't agree more! I'm grateful for all those things. 💚
Thanks 😊
Where is the joy? This sounds like fear fear fear.
We live a joyful life not a fearful life. We’re talking about reasons to retire as soon as you can because none of us know what tomorrow holds but we know Who holds tomorrow. We appreciate you watching 😊 Have a great week!
We 💙 your positivity! Have a great week.😊
Thanks so much! We appreciate your kind words 😃
Great talk 👍 it really is amazing when you think about how many people you know that are now gone and I’m only in my 50s
Time is not fair that’s for sure. Goes way to quickly.
Happy Father's Day Keith! I think we are still many steps behind the Joneses and that is fine!
Thanks! The Jonseses aren’t all they’re cracked up to be 😂
Indeed, I keep on telling myself to keep it simple.
Definitely a calmer less stressful life!
Content state of mind is so true. I can't imagine living off the grid but if others are happy doing that, good for them. We have to be happy with the direction our lives take us. Life is too short to not be happy with our life choices.
We wish we could’ve gotten wisdom before we got old 😅 we appreciate you watching 😊
Great video. I couldn't agree more. Our outlook, feelings and thoughts on things change as we get older. Tends to make life a lot more enjoyable and content. Steve
Wish our younger selfs could have gotten this sooner….guess why they call it wisdom
This is all so true. A simple life is so very peaceful.
Thanks for watching. We wish young people could realize this before entering the rat race of life.
🤣🤣Aches and pains come with age too, Terri and Keith! But, I guess you said good things. Time really does pass quickly and the best advice you mention is to be content! Everything else falls into place. Happy Fathers Day, Keith!
Happy Father’s Day to you as well Dave! And you’re right about the aches and pains 😅
Great advice. Lots of wisdom from you guys.
Thanks 😊
Many young people would be wise to take this advice, especially with social media (wrongly) influencing how their life should be.
Social media has definitely influenced young people and most in the wrong direction. We appreciate you watching 😊
Luckily I've never had a wallet which allowed me to keep up with the Joneses. A lesson my parents lived out as example. As a family we never went anywhere longer than a day- a day at the beach, at a park. I'm blessed to have learnt the gift of gratitude very young. You are right, there are those who will never be happy with their lot. I guess a lot has to do with upbringing and life values. My hands look like those of my mum. Oh I was very startled when I saw that.Watching a home programme the other day I just had a silent giggle at this couple who wanted 'more storage space' to put their 'things'. I'm just glad we downsized and decluttered a few years ago. Have a wonderful week. Good topic. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
We appreciate you watching Anita! There is some good things about aging 😊 we get some wisdom along the way
I enjoyed this vicarious walk with you. What a beautiful walk :)
It was definitely beautiful & a bit challenging 😊
Great hike, is it hard to find the trail again after the detour? Have you guys done Hemlock Cliffs?
No it’s not hard to find. It’s marked pretty well. We have not done Hemlock Cliffs but it is on our list. We have heard that it is beautiful.
Glad Y'all made it back. Good to see you carried water with you also. The heat is really starting to pick up and the humidity. Might want to check into a walking stick if you do many more like this. Helps with balance, twisted ankles and falls. You both have more gumption and stamina than I do for sure. Take care and thanks. Steve
We’ve talked about getting hiking sticks but just haven’t. We need to get them for sure!
Always enjoy just hearing the sound of a waterfall!! We've not had a good steady rain, so a lot of our waterfalls right now are just a trickle...maybe some heavier rains in the forecast for tomorrow.
We’re needing rain here as well. Just listening to waterfalls is so relaxing
I gage every trail, on how it compares to Rose Island’s infamous trail 3 climb. I’ll give a “75% Rose Island rating,” for a trail that’s nearly as tough. 😂
The Rose Island hill was a killer 😫
@@RetiredLovingIt It even comes with a warning label! 😃
😅
Thank-you for the tour! Had heard of Tioga Falls, but I’ve never been.
It’s beautiful once you get up the hill 😅
You guys are in pretty good shape to walk 1.9 miles up hill 🥵👊
We were panting and gasping for air but we did it 😅👍
We used live in Elkhart, IN during the 1990s and we would go here to eat a few times a year. We would always take out of town visitors here to eat. It was a lot smaller place when we first went there to eat. It always had great food. Last time we ate there was probably 2000 or 2001 then we moved away from that area. We miss it very much. Thanks for the video.
Keith was raised in Elkhart. His mother used to work there when they first opened. We have eaten there many times.
We love waterfalls! We love uphill hikes a lot less. LOL. But a beautiful waterfall can make it all worth it. Thanks for taking us along!
It was gorgeous once we got there 😊
Oh, what a beautiful hike. I love the water aspect as well. A great workout. Falls were so pretty. Thanks for sharing. 💙
It was a great hike! Thanks for coming along!
What is the toughest trail you have hiked? Ours was Rainbow Falls in Gatlinburg TN.
It looks like a beautiful trail, Terri and Keith. It's always good to start on the uphill portion. You never see "Bigfoot," but being a TH-camr's, think of the views if you did! "Dateline" if you go missing? How about the "Blair Witch Project?" 🤣🤣 Right away I thought of the 🦟🦟🦟's. They're all over up here! Beautiful waterfall. I can see it went up quite a ways. Gorgeous area and we loved coming along on the hike. As you mention going downhill may be easier, but also more danger of a fall. Thanks for bringing us along.
We appreciate you watching!
It's easy to fall into the negative side, Terri. Life quite often presents challenges. I try to do the best I can to meet them the best I can. Then let what happens happen. For the most part as I aged I found most of them weren't that terribly important in the grand scope of things. Some great advice here!
Thanks Dave! Hope you & Kathy have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Only Uncle Sam would charge a penalty for leaving your money in a savings account. That way it leaves them more to spend! 🤣🤣 Some great ideas here, Terri and Keith. Thanks for sharing the info.
Thanks & hope you have a great Father’s Day!
I'm impressed that one man could create all that by himself.
It was amazing! A true hidden gem. He definitely had talent.
Oh that's pretty cool :)
It was very cool!
Good reasons, all of them :)
Thanks 😊
Wonderful sharing here my friends keep it up all the best cheers 👍🏻👍🏻🤗🤗
Thanks so very much! We truly appreciate it! 😊
Great sharing
Thanks 😊

A topic to cover is how do you organize your accounts in retirement? Example the bucket system that you hear about but even then what comes first do you take money from your IRA and put it in your checking account every month or just how do you go about that? Does that make sense?
Makes perfect sense! We’ll add that to our list! Thanks for the suggestion!
You don't make any kind of comment about the street performers, who bring so much atmosphere to the Quarter - and perform solely for tips. This isn't Disneyland, TIP STREET PERFORMERS FOR VIDEO AND PHOTOS.
Hard to cover everything but the performers were great! And they were tipped 👍
Very interesting topic. I guess every country has it's won plan, possibilities. The main issue is- save for later. It is worth it. Have a great week. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Yes! Save for the future is a much no matter the country! Have a blessed week!
Good job with the pictures and remembering everything. Sometimes, when we can not shoot video and only take pictures, we will run an audio recorder so we know what the pictures are. Thanks! It was a beautiful cave! Have a blessed week!
Great tips 👍

West Baden springs hotel. If you haven’t been there it’s a beautiful property. West Baden and French Lick. Be careful if you’re prone to injuries at French Lick. Although the video would be interesting. Hiking lol.
Keith actually went to college at West Baden when the old hotel was a college. It’s on our list to video for our channel. It’s beautiful there! So stay tuned….it’s on the list! Thanks so much for the suggestion 😊
@@RetiredLovingIt I took a tour prior to the renovation and a tour afterwards it’s amazing. Try to go around Christmas and see how it’s decorated.
