One of the reasons why I use a black bat or whatever paint contrasts most with my surroundings, I can see it easier in my peripheral visions and make adjustments while watching the ball, and reminding myself to shove chin into my back shoulder a good few moments before glancing at the balls trajectory. It’s so easy to forget this fundamental part of hitting. Now as an adult switching over to slow pitch breaking bad habits is even harder. You would think a slow high arching pitch would be easier. But after 15 years of training for timing and connecting with a fast relatively straight line fastballs, sliders, and changups, hitting a 10’ high lob is like learning to hit all over again with timing and cutting your swing at the perfect time as it drops 45 degrees in the zone.

Hi. I'm a 17 year old girl playing baseball. I play as a catcher. My throw to second is okay. The ball gets there usually without a bounce but it can be pretty slow and inaccurate. I was wondering how many reps you would recommend and maybe ang other exercises that could help me improve my throw. Thank you for the video very helpful.

    • @dpbaseball

ONE MAJOR FLAW: DO NOT straighten/extend your arm BEFORE your throw the ball (i.e., during the back-motion after the hands separate). This is a biomechanical truth. This is what is causing some followers to hurt themselves. The ONLY time the throwing arm should reach a position of complete/full extension is at the point-of-release. Straightening the arm BEFORE you throw will either 1) cause your whole arm motion to be "locked" in this position and cause all the potential elasticity and kinetic power to remain "locked" as well, or 2) cause the throwing arm to bend pre-maturely, or 3) force the throwing arm to be out of timing and out of position with relation to the rest of the body. Plus, look at every baseball card/photo/video of a MLB player throwing....you will never see a straightened throwing arm during the back-motion.
