You gotta be extremely careful doing this to your pickups cause I have messed some up doing this and they never worked when done. It's very easy to break a strand of wire on the wind if your not extremely careful. I'm not worried about noise that's not why I did mine. I'm old school I don't even use reverse wound pickups. People Crack me up all worried about a little noise you only hear when not playing lol just turn the volume down. The closer you sit facing your rig your going to get noise so just get away from it some. This mod really isn't mentioned to get rid of noise it can change things about the pickups if dine properly like the impedance levels and things.

The copper tape needs a ground wire soldered to the ground wire eyelets. You just wrapped it with the tape and no ground.

The misconception much people follow is the belief that shielding eliminate the noise in single coils, when that's a mistake. The natural hum from single coils will always be there, what shielding is intended for is to minimize the EMI (electromagnetic interferences) caused by the electric wnvironment surround you. If you want to real eliminate the single coil's natural hum the only way is to use a "dummy coil" which make your pickups work like a humbucker, nevertheless this mod will make noisy you position 2 and 4. Also keep in mind that EMI is different each time depending of the orientation you place your guitar when playing and the devices near you, this later is what much times lead people to believe the shielding is magic.

I have a set of dimarzio vintages.....i think at one time that model as well as the dp 241 were called firebird pickups ?!??! I was thinking bout buying a firebird pickup but dont want to spend the money if the vintages are close

Hi, I've seen your videos and I really like what you do. I bought a cheap guitar and I wanted to change the pickups, I want them ringing like the classic stratocaster budget 100 euros pre-cabled do you recommend them a good set also Chinese?

Our ear percieves the louder and brighter sounds as be better. But… I had the iron gear pig iron ones and I found them a bit too bright. You can turn off the treble, but if you keep touching the treble button in every situation with every amp, it means it’s too bright. Toneriders, however always have impressed me with being just bight enough without sexually assaulting my eardrums. It’s always about perspective and having a reference. That’s why it’s impossible to hoose wisely if you’re just listening to videos on youtube.

Ich würde Dir empfehlen, die BLADE Texas Standard Pro, oder die BLADE Texas Vintage zu probieren, originale gute bis sehr gute Hölzer (besser als Fender, daher resonieren die auch richtig die BLADEs), beste Verarbeitung und verjüngter Hals-Korpus-Übergang und dadurch beste Bespielbarkeit in den oberen Lagen (viel besser als Fender und diese beiden Blades kriegst Du gebraucht sehr günstig, weil der Wiederverkaufswert komischerweise relativ gering ist) und darin empfehle ich Dir entweder das Tonerider Alnico II-Blues, oder das Seymour Duncan Alnico II-Pro, oder auch sehr gut, das spiele ich selbst im Moment, das DiMarzio True Velvet, oder gebraucht die frühe Version, das DiMarzio Blue Velvet, aber das kriegst du nur gebraucht!

Dann rede auch deutsch, wenn Du Deutscher bist! Entschuldige Dich niemals ein Deutscher zu sein! Und lass ruhig die Tonerider, die klingen schon sehr edel und Glückwunsch, Du hast eine vernünftig resonierende Fender erwischt und darin klingen die Tonerider sehr passend!

First off KS you do not need to apologize for anything as I appreciate your efforts. I have watched this video several times and it seems to me that when you played the ToneRiders your were making a tiny bit better contact with 4,5,6 th strings. I am sure this was an unconscious on your part but that can make a huge difference in the sound of any given pickup. That being said the ToneRiders do seem to have a slightly fuller sound but it so hard to judge based upon any video on the web to be sure. The ArtFit sound pretty darn good to me and theses pickups could be easily tweeked to match the ToneRiders with very little effort.

I believe the article that you referred to in the beginning mentioned a couple of things that I can't tell whether or not you adhere to - namely you cannot connect the copper foil and once it's drowned around the pickup. You also must connect that copper foil to ground of the guitar so continuity is continuous throughout all ground and shielding. You do not need to do multiple layers I think that's what you're trying to do at one point in your video - little bit long so I was skipping through it. Shielding the body and the pick guard will have a greater effect than just shielding the pick up some cells. Always make sure all of your shielding and ground are connected. And one final measure which is a good rule of thumb is to get shielded wire and replace all of the wiring with shielded wire in addition to shielding the cavity and the pickups.

Da gefielen mir die Kombi Iron Pigs + Texas Loco besser. Die klingen etwas prägnanter als die Tonerider. Möglicherweise muss man bei den Tonerider mehr an Amp und sonstigen Knöpfen drehen, um die Bravheit auszugleichen.

Danke für den Test! Die Tonerider klingen wesentlich definierter und melodisch. Die anderen klingen flach, plinkig und fad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wait! There are copper single coil pickup covers. It's so ridiculous Fender and other reputable brands never made this a standard feature, but Fender didn't even make the reverse wound middle single coil standard until 1985! The other option is an active pickup module, but I'm an engineer so I design and build my own and can't speak for what is on the commercial market. I used to grimace at the thought of a battery in my guitar, then I designed my own module as an experiment and can't stand to be without them. The 60/50 cycle and other atmospheric noise never makes it beyond the battery. *Now granted I'm a metal and instrumentalist so I use mostly humbuckers, nothing sounds as good as a single coil.* Going active just makes them even better and they can be taken to a whole new level with high/low/bandpass filters. It also means a $5 no namer pickup sounds like you spent 100x that on it.

nice vid again You should try Tonerider Pure Vintage Neck and middle pickup and use a humbucker in bridge even Wilkinson one ore a tonerider I use Epiphone custom pro bridge humbucker its great worth the try you will love it..

I considered these pickups for the Tele Thinline CV 60. However I wonder if they are similar to the Fender Vintage 64. In any case, it gives a very good clean sound on the neck

Strings, type - and speakers - size and quality - will change your sound better than this will.

The Toneriders are way better. I put some guitarfetish professional vintage in my Strat and they sound absolutely amazing like the toneriders here for half the price. IJS

I have been using Hot Classics since kelvin Ho of Singapore insisted there were none better. That was 2009. He was right.

I just wired up a set of the Alnico 2 blues pickups in my Affinity Tele. Sound great so far.

Toneriders s blow them other ones into oblivion. Truly awful harsh that second set. No flow in second set but tone riders seamless.

I like my partcaster-strat a lot, but what bothers me is a weight of a whole guitar = 3,8kg. It has a really good&massive brass block and saddles, but i asuume that those 200-300g extra comes from a wooden parts. Are hevier wooden parts good or bad(cheep)?
