What Can I Find in the City? - Urban Rockhounding - Collect & Cut Landscape Rocks - CC&P Episode 20
Hi my tribe,
Did I find cool rocks? I think I did, but you should watch to tell me what you think.
These are clips of me collecting rocks in different locations, on different days. All in parking lots with rock landscape strips.
I look like an odd character recording the rocks next to my car, but I'm addicted to the rock, man. I'm now recording to share with you, and that kicked up the freak factor a bit with recording and talking.
You're all worth it though. 🫶
Join me on my inner-city journey.
Thanks, and take care.

Gorgeous 🤩
@@AncintArt2ndColony Glad you enjoyed it, and glad my mom picked it up somewhere in her travels. 🙏
Wow, that's beautiful, especially under the UV. I went to see Purple Rain with my 18 year old cousin Jill at her request. I was 27. It was rated R for a reason! 🙄😳😳 I wanted to crawl down on that sticky floor and die!!!😅😂
What a beautiful specimen. I love that.
@@JnVrockhounding Thanks. I love it also. My mom is just reminding she has rocks and asking what things are. Mom and my family all live together so I've seen the rock before but never paid attention. I thought it had been amethyst until I really looked at it. She now wants me to cut some of her pet wood. Cool mom.
@ yup
I had this in my head earlier tonight! Beautiful specimen too!
@@Betty-RockBetty Thanks and yeah, after this it was in my head all night. And it was raining here so when I woke it looked like grape cool-aid outside...nah, j/k it wasn't purple rain. 😆
greeeeeeeeeen :)
@@RHAHEHSHDHDH No better words have ever been written 😁
Wow that's a special one there, love it, that awesome inside there!
It's so special that I needed to see inside. Went to a friend's house yesterday with a lapidary shop and cut it on her saw. It's even better opened and now it's a beautiful display. That should be coming soon. Big day of editing today.
@just-one-more-rock nice, looking forward to seeing that beauty!
Some really neat rocks! Thank you for sharing Fred!!!
Hey Betty. Thank you for always watching and commenting. You're the best 🫶
@ Thanks Fred 😀
Cool rocks Fred! Thank you for sharing as always ☺️
@@LezBeRockin73 I'm glad you enjoyed and thank you for commenting as always 😊
Nice, I love urban rockhounding!! Landscape and parking lot rocks are the best! Sweet cuts, cool insides! I like how you show your finds and then cut them too in the same video!
@@CityRockhounding Yep, rocks at your fingertips when you can't get anywhere else. I trying to do the cuts in the same video of the ones found, whenever it comes together right. Thanks
Great glowz sweet color, awesome egg, love it!
Quite a glower on this one. Got a fluorescent purple calcite coming soon to a short near you. 😁
Cool cuts. Like the last one and the two others that had the round inclusions.
Thanks my friend ✌️
Fred, I think 5 and 6 are rocks with lots of feldspar crystals in them. Of course feldspar minerals makes up about 60% of the earth's crust, (I looked that up) so I'm not telling you much.😅 How's that for being helpful, huh?
I always appreciate your comments and I didn't look it up, you did, and then told me. I didn't know that so you taught me something. Sounds pretty helpful to me. Thanks buddy.
It's very cool as it is, and if you have a place in your yard to display it, I think it would be a nice landscape feature. But I'm also curious about the inside. If it looks like there might be that same botryoidal druzy inside, I'd be tempted to bust it open. If you did decide to open it, I'd open it naturally and then slab one of the smaller pieces if you really wanted slabs. If the inside is full of druzy I'd think cutting it would ruin the natural grain and shape.
@@OhioEddieBlack Those are all great things to consider. I do have a display of sorts. I bought an antique metal scale that I thought it would look great on. Kind of an old time western mining feel. I've very curious as well. I was leaning towards a cut rather than a break because I thought if it were all druzy then it's less solid, and I'd fear it breaking into small chunks. I felt like cutting it would almost be like a giant geode or Thunderegg. The one thing I know I'll be doing is getting it weighed, after that, still unsure. Thanks for your comment and welcome to Just One More Rock 😊
Wow that is beautiful under UV!!!
@@Betty-RockBetty Fantastic huh. Then you'll love the purple calcite that's coming up soon. Thanks
Really Cool Piece ! I saw the face too !
@@AncintArt2ndColony It is, and the face caught me off guard when I watched the video. I didn't see it at the time of recording. Creepy 😬
@@just-one-more-rock yup, it happens !
That looks amazing!!! Man, mother nature finds ways to make ordinary things look extraordinary:)
@@yaydadcooking I know, and it's crazy because with all the creatures of earth that see in different spectrums, and us humans would have missed this invisible beauty if we didn't figure out how to harness uv light. It's a cool rock, but it seems a shame that without uv lighting, we would never know.
That's a heckuva name for it Fred! Awesome! Love the UV. This is not a NSFW joke! Though it might sound that way to begin with... I have a friend that unsuccessfully tried to take a picture of themself in the shower. The image always came out too blurry. They have selfie steam issues.
I know. That is what it is, but yeah... trying to hit all the keywords with the title. That was funny but I know why it was always out of focus. He was in the shower, so he must have been streaming...too much water on the lens. See I just brought it back to PC 😁
@just-one-more-rock 🙄
That’s an awesome thunderegg. Nice uv!
Thanks, I had forgotten I had it. It's been in my room that's supposed to my office but it's more of a huge storage closet. It was sitting on a shelf with my uranium glass collection that I'd light up from time to time and when I came across it again, I thought you'd all like to see.
When the greens springs above Ashland ore was constructed, a large road cut exposed similar materials containing perfect sided quarts crystals, 10 miles up from Ashland, pull over and rock hound all you want
@@thatwaseasy4065 Hey thanks for the info. Im on the other end of the state, and Ashland is a 7 hour trip each way. That said, my brother and sister live in Ashland and my brother hounds. I'll have him check it out and report back. Maybe he'll gather some of that material and send it to me to look at on a video. I appreciate it. Thanks for sharing.
That’s one big rock I think trying to cut it in half to see the inside and sending it to a museum would be cool or a dog rent idea and not an easy one would be to break and turn it into a bunch of sculptures but that would take ages, either way can’t wait for part two
@Bongus. I'd love to get it cut also. I'm going to join my local rockhound club to see if I can make contacts to help in that direction. I'm excited for part 2 as well. Thanks
Eye 👀 Candy 🍭 ! Absolutely Gorgeous !
@@AncintArt2ndColony Yeah, you like it? It is a wonderful piece off a beautiful boulder that is even more amazing. Thanks
@@just-one-more-rockya man ! ✅ Definitely Is it like a big plaquet ? This piece looks worked into an axe or something, but sometimes stones break just right . Some even have prefabricated cuts to make it break in such a way ! How big is the big piece of this material !?
It actually broke off while I was rolling it. It naturally broke off. The main boulder is somewhere between 150 to maybe over 300 pounds. I have no idea yet but it's huge. Check out the full video if you want to see the giant. Thanks
Interesting Stone ! Very Nice 👍
@@AncintArt2ndColony Agreed, there's calcite running through the host rock creating the "lightning" Thanks
I’ve got a set of feathers and wedges but it’s so beautiful whole! Amazing, epic find!! Great video Fred!
@@Betty-RockBetty I don't have any yet but if I split it that's how I'd do it. I'm really scared to go that route though. What of it cracked up into pieces. My dream would be to find that massive saw to cut it and would be either full of druzy aor or it's solid and takes to a wonderful polish on both halves. And even though it's my Precious, I feel like it should be somewhere that people can see it. Well see. You know what they say...If you love something, let it go. Thanks Betty
I would seek advice from the big rock collectors - cut in two alone could command recognition and worth depending on whats inside ? its your baby and its a big one that does require big attention and care and many blessings to you and the rock for the future as no matter what its been your 'precious' and now it could be more? what an exciting adventure!
@@Mummaearth Good idea. Getting this video out will at least start some conversations. I definitely don't want to make the wrong decision but I'd live to cut it. The idea of these two massive pieces faced polished seems amazing, unless it's a full of something better. Whatever the choice, my adventure is your adventure as well.
The last piece is really nice looking ! The Dark Red ♥️ ! I gotta see that one Polished Up ! 👍
@@AncintArt2ndColony Agreed, I think that one is pushing it's way to the top of my project list. The ever growing list.
@just-one-more-rock it's like a Ruby Red ! Rubellite !?
@AncintArt2ndColony or possibly garnet. Garnet can be in quartzite and I've heard we have red garnet in areas in Washington and Oregon. Maybe the mineral formation will show under magnification after polished.
What's up brother just got into rock tumbling but I mostly do gold prospecting in cabin building lol I do it all
@jeremycanterohioprospecting Jeremy I assume. Hey thanks for stopping in and dropping a comment. I'm glad you did because I'm looking to do some panning this year to see how it goes. I think I'll see if you can teach me anything since I took a look at your channel and see you got something to offer. Cool. I like building stuff as well, although I never know what I'm doing when I start. I just have an idea and run with it. I've got an outbuilding in the works structured by pallets. Free pallets saved me a lot of cash. Hope to hear from you again. Fred
What an awesome find!!! Hell yes
@@yaydadcooking It's a lifer for sure. I'd assume, never again. We were very lucky that day.
Dude! Ho leee cooowww! That thing is friggin awesome. I would live to have found that. Probably weighs close to if not more than 200 lbs. wow Fred.
It's a beast, right? I couldn't live to find that because I wouldn't even know that would exist. My mind has pondered for hours where it was formed, how many years old, how many miles traveled, how it's still in one piece and all the while spending its life being river tumbled smooth to make it just about a quarter mile from the ocean. Crazy, absolutely crazy.
😉👍
Wow ,that's pretty darn cool man.
Save it till it splits more, there could be gold in that crack tho. It's a tuff decision I bet.
@@WOODnCHROME Sometimes I look at it and think it's too cool for me to be the only one looking at it. It's nice to share.
@@WOODnCHROME Wouldn't that be a nice surprise. I've looked at it nearly every day for over a year and I still go back and forth on it. That's why I like knowing what you all think.
1st!!! I'll bet that was THE "Just One More Rock " that day Fred. What a beautiful behemoth! I'm gonna put a herniated estimate of 322.488 pounds. How'd you get it home? If in a truck, go to a truck scales with it, go home, roll it off and go back and weigh your truck or vice versa. If you've got a farm supply store nearby, they've probably got a scale capable of weighing it as well. A local rock club also might be able to help with weighing and cutting it into smaller pieces if that's what you decide to do. Or, you could do like in the Bugs Bunny cartoon and "I will hug him and pet him and name him Fred."😊 That's a beauty, eh! Praying for Angie!🙏🏼
@@RickSmith-kp3sy I'm addicted bro. I'll tell more of the story in part 2, but I still went out and looked more and my Just 1 More Rock came from a small carnelian piece. You're brilliant. Great ideas. You're not trying to be accurate with your guess, are you? Thanks for the prayers for Angie. 🫶
