When the greens springs above Ashland ore was constructed, a large road cut exposed similar materials containing perfect sided quarts crystals, 10 miles up from Ashland, pull over and rock hound all you want
@@thatwaseasy4065 Hey thanks for the info. Im on the other end of the state, and Ashland is a 7 hour trip each way. That said, my brother and sister live in Ashland and my brother hounds. I'll have him check it out and report back. Maybe he'll gather some of that material and send it to me to look at on a video. I appreciate it. Thanks for sharing.
@@Betty-RockBetty There's faint banding in some of those little specimens but I didn't stay long enough to try to find the best ones. 20 minutes from parking to driving away on this trip.
@just-one-more-rock man, you guys definitely live in a beautiful area , tons of tree and loads of 🪨. Here in San antonio all the trees we have are for BBQ wood :). Luv the videos man
Lots of vesicles in those volcaic rocks there Fred. Almost as many vesicles as I have in mine. 🧀 And you got a new saw!!! Saweet!!! Is it like Aerosmith's Big 10"???😅
@@RickSmith-kp3sy 😆. Just a new tile saw, but that may add to a new dyi life for my old one. Sadly it's just Fred's 7"...blade. Get your head out of the gutter 🤣
Really cool spot with very interesting stuff. Too bad you couldn’t take some to cut. Amygdaloidal basalt can be awesome slabbed up. That one piece you asked what it was but put text over it you’re probably right. It definitely looked like calcite to me but still hard to be positive seeing something on a video like this. Next time you go out there take a little bottle of vinegar with you and put a drop on it or on the veins in that boulder. If it bubbles it’s probably calcite for sure.
@@JnVrockhounding Great advice and I never wanted this rock as much as I do now that so many say it's too bad I can't take any. Maybe I can ask for a small sample.
It was suggested I woo him with a dinner. Maybe someday but this location comes with restrictions so I try not to ask for too much. Is one little rock too much? Maybe but, maybe not. Didn't think I'd have to go on a date with this dude to get some rocks but what a guy will do to get his minerals...am i right? 😆
@@matthewcarey7323 🤣. You're thinking all angles. Thanks but the part about getting the new saw that I'm excited about, and mind you, it's just another 7" tile saw, is that i now get to take my old one apart and try to dyi it into more of a lapidary saw by gaining depth on the blade. Always trying something new.

I love those little specimens where it's still in the host rock. Fun stuff!

That bolder was epic, super cool find
Yeah, thanks. I wish I could have rolled it to see what was on the bottom. You just never know 🤔.

Very cool, maybe you need to buy the owner dinner or something in exchange for just one rock! 😅
@@matthewcarey7323 Good idea. I like the way you think 👍. Thanks
@just-one-more-rock Not just a hat rack my friend! 🤣🤣🤣 maybe they would let you replace with another rock? Have fun with the new saw!
