This is Robert MacIntyre’s home course and it is STUNNING!
Glencruitten Golf Course (Oban, Scotland) is one of the most scenic and beautiful courses I’ve ever played. Home of PGA Tour winner Bob McIntyre, you can see how this course has shaped the style of Golf he plays today.
As a PAR 62, Glencruitten is both fun and challenging, with tricky PAR 3s and crazy elevation changes. I loved playing here and I will most definitely be back soon!
Thank you to Knipoch House Hotel for hosting me and to Glencruitten for allowing me to film!

    I actually have these exact grips on my wedges and have found it helps a lot around the green to ensure I close the face, don’t skull it (at least less) and can be more direct with my ability to manage my distance as the wedges work everything from 120 yards in for me.

    Hi Sam, nice video, excellent quality. The course looks in beautiful condition - good that you had some sun for the Wednesday practice day. It's been a while since I've been to Carnoustie (last there in 2007 for the Open) so I'm quite envious! I hope it's going to be a good tournament. Last year the conditions down in South Wales on the Sunday (final round) for the Seniors were absolutely horrific - not even sure how the pros remained standing upright for the golf shots, the wind / rain were so severe. Hopefully this week will be nice for you. Best wishes Michael

I thought it seemed quite unique when I walked round as an Open venue, but it was great to be there even in the rain🙂. It'll always be one of the best! Enjoy the rest of the week.👍

    Sorry I disagree with rule #3. When you are in birdie range (inside 20’) you should be trying to hole the ball and have pace that gets the ball past the hole. From inside 10’ pros leave the ball short 1 out of 100 times. From 10-20’ it’s one out of 10. A ball that’s short or low has no chance of going in. Until 2 weeks ago I was in your camp, but after watching a podcast about GameForge that Matty Boom Boom posted. I realized that I was not giving most of my putts inside 20’ a chance. On these putts you should have the speed control to get the ball past the ball but leaving an easy tap in.

    • @SamKingGolf
      @SamKingGolf 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      On shorter putts, I’m reducing the size of the ‘zone’ I want to aim for. As you can see, I’m holing WAY more putts that way! However… Golf is different for everyone so I appreciate your comment! ❤️

    • @duffer0309
      @duffer0309 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SamKingGolf I agree I was in your camp it was the one thing I disagreed with Matt on. But I started keeping track of putts and I found that I was leaving 40% of my 10-20’ putts short as I was concentrating on no three putts and also realized I was missing most putts on the low side. I started trying to be a little more aggressive and playing my miss on the high side. I’m converting 2-3 more putts a round with no increase in 3 putts. But even with 3 conversions if I had one extra 3 putt, I’m still two shots ahead. For those length putts with good speed contra the circle can be moved with the front at the center of the hole. Like i said. I’ve been trying to avoid 3 putts but I’m starting to realize that it’s costing me one putts than the 3 putts I’m avoiding.

    4 x PGA winning Scott Peircy uses the 10 finger grip. Everyone on tour has played golf since they're babies. So it's irrelevant anyway. Most golf coaching rationale is based on zero data and should be ignored. I reckon 90% of AMS would be better off going 10 finger (and maybe thicker grips too). Great video

    In the 90's golf mad Hollywood producer and screenwriter Michael Laughlin wrote a book called radical golf. He stated that anyone currently shooting in the 90's , could consistently shoot in the 70's. He said play short with a 3i or 4i off the tee (now you can also of course use 3 or 4 hybrid) then avoid all hazards by playing in front of the green. Use your time to practice lag putting and get good with your wedge. He said your 3rd shot on a par 4 or your second shot on a par 3 and your 3rd and 4th shots on a par 5 were the most IMPORTANT shots for the radical golfer. Even if your 1st and 2nd shots were just functional you always left yourself with these IMPORTANT shots and most often with a short iron or wedge. Your video reminds me very much of his philosophy. 180 190 yards off the tee, then another iron , chip or pitch always giving yourself a putt for par. He said Driver off the tee and 3 or 5 wood off the fairway will send your scores soaring. So why don't hcp golfers play this way. Because they give in to urges , peer pressure and fail to maintain believe and discipline. I have noted that NR's from single digit hcp golfers come from Driver off the tee or going for the green with the second shot or first shot on a par 3 . And I've seen scratch and close to scratch golfers hit OB even on the very first tee. If this happens to them, then its more likely to happen to you.
